A quick read. It was not the juicy, cheating story that I expected. Rather, a story of a woman lost in the everyday routine, and struggling to find herself and happiness. Although odd, and too methodical at times, a good book about long term relationships and love.

This novel was hard to like. The main character was annoying and it was hard to feel much sympathy towards her. I feel like the quality of Paulo Coelho's work is declining. Either he is not trying as hard or..something. Disappointing! I would give just 2.5 stars if I could.

Liked, but not my favorite Coelho-still remember the impact of Alchemist; maybe first love syndrome, but very different for this author. Some parts of all of those of us in the institution of marriage in the characters and has a settling and soothing end to the story!

I love Paulo Coehlos provocative books. I was looking forward to this new story and interesting topic. It wasn't as troublesome, irritating, thought provoking, life changing as the Zair or Veronica decides to die. I enjoyed it, no more.

Good enough read. The lessons that one may learn in life can be found in various avenues, one of which being what one reads. There were numerous ideas and concepts that could be applied to various life lessons. I enjoyed the parallels made throughout the novel. Kudos Coelho!

Many people found this book to be shallow...about a shallow woman who can't appreciate a great life and a great husband she has, but i found it to be profoundly deep as expected if you understand Coelho's writing at all.

As expected, the novel deals with moral conflicts arising within and around a character... It seems the character itself could become a writer considering the way it thinks, different from any person's, excluding an author of course !!

I feel the writer has dealt with a relevant topic today because men are increasingly busy with work, but women however busy they are, juggling work and home, are designed by God to be emotional. In today's world where more money is buying comfort, luxury, high gadgets, exotic leisure and vacation gateways, there is nothing to struggle for in life after a certain stage, which was the case in yesteryear.More elaborate the communication channels, the lesser is communication and hence loneliness and boredom. The symptoms has been well projected by the author. So in a way I could relate to Linda, the protagonist. Having said that, I found certain acts by Linda too hasty and by far crossed all limits as required by a married women with a respectable job, and lovey family. I was not convinced by some acts in any way such as her impulsive behavior with Jacob in an office in the 1st meeting and the closure scene was too dramatic, far from practical. Unbelievable! We cannot surrender and close this way. It was too robotic. Real surrender should have been by talking and revealing thoughts with Jacob. Besides, the author did not give a clear messaging. Is he suggesting that let our imagination fly and we let our desires be fulfilled and our good nice husbands with welcoming hands are waiting for us at the end of it ? Also, as a piece of literature and story writing , I did not find it greatly impressive.
