I bought this book because of the author not really knowing what to expect because I had never read a shifter story. Menage really isn't my thing either, but I was pleasantly surprised by this. I have even re-read this book.

I like to read shifter stories, and because there are so few in regular fantasy I tend to shop in the Romance section quite a bit (where there are a lot of these stories). Most aren't that long, they build quickly, resolve in a few pages and almost follow a formula.
This is not one of those!
This is a nice, long, well developed story with several turns, twists, ups and downs, as it fully develops each of its characters and introduces you to them in great detail (and yes it has nice sex scenes in it too if that's what you want, several even!)
All in all this was a great read, I didn't digest it in just an hour or two, it took longer, it is a full length novel. I'm glad I bought and read it, and I highly recommend it.
I will definitely read more of this author's works, I hope she tells some more stories about the people in this town, and the ones in this book.

Besides Maya Banks, Cherise Sinclair is one of my favorite authors. Action packed, hot alpha males, and steamy romance. The fact that it is a stand alone book, makes for perfect reading. Now starting the second book. Absolutely loved it.

Wow.........Wow (double wow)! I love Cherise Sinclair books and was surpised by this one. I was not expecting a story with shape shifters and this is not at all like her usual books but oh boy, I am so glad she wrote it. Cherise Sinclair fans know that she can write a story that sweeps you up and makes you never want to put it down and always leaves you wishing for more. You never want her stories to end. She does it again with this book. I really hope this turns into a series, there are so many characters that I would love to read stories about. Get it now and start reading you will not be disappointed.

I have read other books by Cherise Sinclair, but none that got to me as much as this one. I REALLY liked this heroine, and that made up for a little bit of the lighter characterization of the heroes. I also enjoyed her take on shape shifters and where they come from. There was at least one character who is an obvious candidate for hero of a second book set in this world, and I would love to see another novel in this setting.

Victoria is a Marine involved in Special Operations who gets drawn into a world she never could have imagined when she tries to rescue a young shifter who was kidnapped by criminals who wanted to experiment on him. To find answers, she travels to his hometown and finds not one, but two, handsome shifters who want to show her more about their world.
Sinclair wrote one of my all-time favorite series. I enjoyed this book, but it was no match for “Shadowlands.” The pacing seemed a bit off – the story almost dragging in places. Part of this could have been everything she had to do to set up the world. That said, it was entertaining. Victoria is tough and resourceful. Her actions don’t always ring completely true to what we’ve been given to understand about her character, but she’s also under some stress that most of us will probably never experience. I was worried about not enjoying the whole “brothers share a mate” plot, but it was handled really well and there was nothing that really turned me off about it.

I'm normally not into shape-shifter storylines, but I'm a huge Cherise Sinclair fan so I decided to give this one a try. I was instantly pulled into the story and could not put it down! Wonderful characters, beautifully flowing storyline, unpredictable, this is a book you don't want to miss!

What I enjoyed most about this book was the sense of community and depth of character development of not only the principals but the supporting cast as well. I could "see" the town, the mountains and the interiors of the businesses in my mind's eye, and have re-read this book just to take another "look" around!
I also loved that the lead males were predatory and not tame "let's discuss this over wine and cheese" metrosexuals. There are plenty of books like that, and plenty of men like that in the real world. I don't want to read about the real world - I want hot sweeping fantasy fiction that leaves me grinning from ear to ear and whispering, "Oh yeah..."
Keep up the good work Cherise. I can't wait for the next one!

If you love paranormal reading with a plot, well-written characters, a love story and some sizzling hot sex, give this story and author a chance by reading Hour of the Lion. It is worth every single cent and it is priced under $5, well worth it given its length. This story does not short change, abruptly end or leave you feeling that a sequel is on the way. (we've all read at least one of those) There are additional stories to come but you don't know that based on the storyline or ending. Warning: This shifter, paranormal, ménage-themed book has strong sexual content that may stretch the boundaries of some people. This book is not about BDSM per se, but there is some element of it. The emotion in this story will not leave you untouched.
This is truly one of my favorite paranormal, romance, BDSM authors.

I really went back and forth about reading this book. I am a huge fan of her Masters of the Shadowlands series and wasnt sure how I would like her delving into another genre! But she did it and quite wonderfully. The thing I love about her writing style is that it's not all wham bam, but don't get me wrong her books are HOT like fire!!! The character development is marvelous, the story grabs you within the first few pages and at the end you are left wanting more.
I do hope there is more to come from this wonderful community of shifters!

I love everything that Cherise Sinclair writes, and this book is no exception. Alhtough different than her normal BDSM genre of books, this book still has her signature style of strong plot and outstanding character development. Reading this book is like opening a door into another world, stepping through and living through the words. Even though she has positioned this as a stand alone title, I hope she continues this as a series and brings us another Cold Creek Shifter book.

Great story with a great heroine. One of the few true kick-ass heroines who can take care of herself -- strong yet vulnerable. The heroes were also wonderful. Not usually into M-F-M love stories but the author made it work. Highly recommended.

You can always rely on Sinclair for a great read; good characters, good writing, a solid storyline and some steamy sex. I had read her Shadowlands ones before this. Her ability to move into the paranormal side of things was a pleasant surprise. Loved it!

I love Cherise Sinclair and this is the only reason I read a shape shifter book. Well, I fell hook, line and sinker! I loved this book series. Victoria sees a young boy die, before he dies Lachlan asks that she go to Cold Creek and tell his grandfather he has died. With only his name and the name of the town, she goes to Cold Creek, an isolated out of the way town.
She falls for two litter mates Alec and Calum. She falls in love Alec and Calum and they have increasing feelings towards her. Vicki shocks herself at the strong maternal feelings she has towards Calum's daughter. Alec and Calum want Vicki and their desires come across clearly.
There are intense feelings of loyalty in this town. They are not only isolated but unknown to the outside world and they want it to stay that way.
The chemistry between the men and Vicki is amazing and the sex scenes, per the normal Cherise, are steamy!! Looking forward to more in this series! Cherise has made me into a shape shifter fan!

I love the book. I am addicted to Cherise Sinclair's work, all of her books are wonderful!
I recommend this book for anyone needing an escape from reality. The erotica is written in such a way that makes you look up over your book to make sure no one is watching you squirm in your seat. This is a "Holy &$:@" kind of read. If your single, purchase batteries before reading. If you are married, warn your hubby.

This is a different story from the author's usual theme. I liked it, a lot. There's a different twist from most shifter stories. It had me intrigued, also had me laughing & crying. I look forward to reading more of her books.

I actually enjoyed reading this book (well parts at least) until I got to about the 75%-ish, then I got annoyed and just started skimming through the end of the book.
A couple things that really aggravated me throughout this book:
1. I don't like cheating in my books. And although Victoria and Alec technically weren't together, it still grossed me out that he had just slept with 2 other women before he took Victoria up and boinked her brains out.
2. I have no clue what animal the main characters in this book are. One minute there's a panther, then the next a cougar, then a mountain lion. It almost seemed as if the author couldn't remember what animal she had the characters.
3. Victoria was a kick ass character, until the end of the book. Then it seemed as if throughout this journey of Victoria trying to adjust to new changes in her life the author just stripped her of her identity and left her a whiny woman (eh). I mean the Victoria that we got at the beginning of the book wouldn't have ran away because the men she loved didn't believe her. She would've put her foot down and demanded they listen to her. But no, instead she goes, kills the bad guy and then runs away.
4. Why the heck didn't she make the men get down on their knees and apologize for accusing her of betraying them and basically turning their backs on her? Instead she lets them get away with a generic "Once we pulled our heads out of our asses we realized you were right". SERIOUSLY? Ugh!

Victoria Morgan may not have been at full strength but she wasn't exactly helpless. Finding herself in a basement with what appears to be a former Marine torturing a teenage boy didn't make her happy. Through skill and dumb luck, Vicki is able to free herself and the teen, Lachlan. Unfortunately, Lachlan is hurt worse than she thought and dies before help comes. Before he dies though, Lachlan makes her promise to visit his grandfather in Cold Creek.
While on the surface this seems like an easy task, it isn't. Lachlan wasn't just a teenage boy. He shifted into a mountain lion! Vicki couldn't believe her eyes and wouldn't have believed it if she hadn't seen it. The other problem is the Marine's employer is a mob boss and has a lot of power. Vicki isn't looking to get herself killed and if they find her they will. She's also promised not to tell anyone about people being able to shift into animals. Without Lachlan's name or his grandfather's name and only a town's name to go on, Vicki's going to have to really work to locate Lachlan's grandfather!
Her introduction to Cold Creek isn't her finest hour either. She's caught by the local sheriff, Alec McGregor, going through a window into the house she's getting ready to rent. Good thing the realtor showed up before she was locked up. The sheriff's kind of cute and Vicki could be interested.
Thinking finding a job at the local bar might get her the information she needs to locate Lachlan's grandfather seems like a good idea. Calum, Alec's brother and owner of the bar, doesn't usually hire humans. They aren't able to deal with a drunk were plus some of the older weres didn't like humans. Yet, Vicki has already proved she's capable to handling herself when she helped removed a drunk trucker that was threatening his teenage daughter.
Humans usually don't smell desirable to weres, so why does Vicki smell so good to Alec and Calum? Vicki is also seeing a small creature living in the tree in front of her rental house. What is going on? With Lachlan dead, will the man in the suit and the former Marine give up trying to capture a were or has their hunt just started?
Ms Sinclair is well known for her BDSM stories. If that is what you are looking for, don't get this book. This book has little to no BDSM in it, no fetish clubs and no familiar characters. What this story does have is awesome characters, gripping emotions and a bunch of hot shifters.
These characters are terrific. Vicki has been in Iraq and works as a spy. She has no close friends or family and lives to serve her country. She doesn't see her life ever changing and figures she'll die in the line of duty. She is capable of protecting herself and able to make decisions quickly. Calum runs the region where he lives. He was once married but his life mate died. He has a 13 year old daughter who he spoils. Calum is use to being in charge and expects his orders to be followed. Alec is Calum's littermate but much more laid back. He doesn't mind following Calum's orders but he's got his own power which can make him very dangerous if you get on his wrong side.
The world that this story is set into is ours. The thought is the shifters live outside large cities and pretty much keep to themselves. No one knows that they are around and they will kill to keep their secret. Birth rates are very low and each new were is a welcomed addition. Gatherings are held each month for single weres to meet up and have as much sex as they can in hopes of a pregnancy. Littermates sharing a life mate is not uncommon and is usually expected.
One of Ms Sinclair's signature trademarks in stories is the intense emotions. This story is no different. You find yourself wrapped up in Vicki's struggles between her loyalties to the organization she works for and her increasing feelings towards Alec and Calum. Vicki shocks herself at the strong maternal feelings she has towards Calum's daughter. Alec and Calum want Vicki, separately and together, and their strong desires come across without question. Vicki's confusion on how she could have sex with two men comes across just as strong.
Though a vastly different genre, Ms Sinclair shows her mastery in story telling with this outstanding and excellent story. She's able to take three strong characters and have them mesh into a single unit, though not until working through lots of issues and problems. Even secondary characters draw readers interest until you can't help but want more books.
I can't praise this book enough. I started it after work and couldn't put it down until I finished it, even though that was well after when I normally went to sleep. Though completely different from her other stories, this one is in a class of its own.
If you like shifters, intense and intriguing stories and a happy ending, take a change and read this one. For Ms Sinclair's regular fans who don't read shifter stories, give this one a chance. You won't be sorry!

I really enjoyed the Hour of the Lion. The storyline was interesting and kept my attention. The characters had depth and I was glad the main female character, Victoria, was likeable and complex without being annoying or clingy. This book had everything I like in a shapeshifter story - adventure, suspense, and steamy romance.
