This book is just ok...written as more of a documentary. There is very little character dialogue, and the story just kept repeating itself. Glad it was free.
I recommend The Big Sky, by A. B. Guthrie, if you are interested in a mountain man story. Would love to add it to my Kindle collection, but only available in paperback.

When a writer pens numerous novels on the same subject, it feels like the pages are loaded with the same filler as the previous book. Names change, ending varies, especially with this book, but much of what you read differs little from the first book. Guess it is time for me to change genres.

This book was interesting. It is the first mountain man book I've read other than real history. I was surprised they didn't mention eating beaver tail, or cougar. The story line held up good thru the whole story. Donald Geer
