This was just plain fun. Excellent writing, strong, smart, likable characters involved in exciting, fast-paced adventures make this a really terrific read. I am definitely indulging in more of Ms. Buroker's work!

Lindsay Buroker is one of my favorite authors. I love how her characters are developed throughout the story. They are well crafted and likable. Her writing is edited fantastically and I usually stay up late trying to finish her books. This one was the same. It made me want to go back and re read the Emperors Edge series.

I really enjoyed this series. Very good writing that kept me engaged in the story. The hints were a little too obvious, but I enjoyed getting them, so maybe that's ok. Liked the alien tech in Encrypted, but thought the blatant homosexual propaganda was distracting and trite. Glad it was not obviously continued in decrypted. Very good read.

My husband doesn't have any clean clothes to wear to work. It is Lindsay Burockers fault yet again. I have read The Emperor's Edge series 3 times. I decided to read about Rias and Tikaya in the Encrypted series. Burocker never disappoints. She is the queen of character development. Each character is so complex and well developed. They become your friends and you are sad to leave them when you are done. Being a librarian, and therefore having read so much, I am rarely surprised in a plot. Buroker manages to take the reader places they didn't expect to go. Never do you read along thinking "ok, here is the part of the literary formula where...(fill in the blank). What a refreshing joy. I want more adventures with my new friends (and the EE friends).

Takaya is sort of a history and language buff who helps save the president while they were are war. She deciphered communications sent by the enemy. Her life should have been safe, as well as her family.Tak But...it isn't. She's kidnapped and thrown in a cell with a strange neighbor.
Enter Rias. He turns out to be a military genius who refused to help the empire destroy the islands Takaya lives on. He has been removed from service and placed on an island for criminals. The two of them begin a journey that will take them from one end of the world back to the island Takaya is from.
Follow their trail from ice covered mountains to beautiful beaches. He uses amazing talents to create designs used to keep them along alive. Although her family wishes him gone, she has fallen head over heels and cannot live without him.
This is a creative love story with mind reading and other mystical connotations included. It's a wonderful series with the right amount of mystery and suspense.

Quite typical e-book fare. The characters are under-developed, the action is overstated and the romantic situations are aimed at teenagers. But it is fun and light reading and provides filler reading between consuming real novels.

This was a well written series set in an intriguing world. Overall the concept was interesting. I didn't like Tikaya at all, so I didn't really bond with the story and ended up skimming about 60 percent. I think someone who likes a lot of background detail and a female character with a lot of innocence to her would enjoy the series more.
