I really like Johanna Linsey's older books - this one was funny and very warm and loving.
The characters were so vivid - you could just imagine being there.

i have almost all of Johanna Lindsey's books and I reread them - especially the older ones.
I like her style of writing - she was one of the first author's I started reading.

I have read most of her historical romances and was very suprised by the whole new world she invented for this futuristic book. As a sci-fi fan and romance reader, this book wa the first I had ever rad that combined the genres.
The Power of a Soft Warrior (True Woman) - Fierce Women :: Choque de Reyes (Spanish Edition) :: The Complete Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner :: Pooh's Honey Trouble (Disney Winnie the Pooh) :: When Women Were Warriors Book II - A Journey of the Heart

This is one of my favorite books from Johana Lindsey but this is just because of the amusing content and the smex may be influential lol. Challen is a burly sex man that has the sarcastic macho thing that I love in books XD call it personal preference in fantasy land. Its a advanced smexy book so I do highly recommend it even though Challen has as much development as a brick.

Warrior's Woman was absolutely ridiculous and I loved it! Tedra works security, at least until her planet is taken over, and women are being taken as slaves. She has connections and she uses that to head off-planet and to find a planet of warriors to help her fight and take her planet back. However, her computer, Martha, has some other plans once Tedra lands and comes face to face with Challen, the biggest man she's ever seen.

Like I said, Warrior's Woman is 100% ridiculous, and not because there's interplanetary travel and planets of warriors and all that. It's just so over the top and bizarre. Martha is a computer that can think, and she's the bane of Tedra's existence even if she is quite useful. Martha really thinks Tedra needs to get laid, so she abandons Tedra on this new planet, hoping Challen will fill that need. Well, Tedra is immediately struck by lust, so she doesn't really mind being captured. But Tedra is not willing to be an obedient slave, which is basically what women are on this planet. She will fight for her freedom, but she also honors the terms of her defeat.

Challen is of course an alpha male. He's even an alpha male who must have the heroine despite her protests. However, Tedra refuses to be raped and she says this many times. She also points out that she's willing and quite enjoys "sharing sex" with Challen. She even takes things into her own hands at times, while still pointing out that she's not his property and will be heading back to her ship ASAP. I really appreciated that the author covered the issue of consent because I was quite worried about it at first. So, yay!

Warrior's Woman was also really fun and funny. Challen simply doesn't believe that Tedra is from another planet despite everything that she tells him. It's funny how he takes everything she says and makes it sounds utterly unbelievable, even though it's all true. It's just strange compared to his planet. And of course, the completely over-the-top everything had me laughing at times.

Warrior's Woman was just a fun read. It's not the greatest Romance that I've read. It certainly has its issues, but I had so much fun reading it that I couldn't help but love it!

I have read several of Johanna Lindsey's Regency Romances and was surprised to find a book from her in the fantasy/science fiction section of the library so decided to give it a go.

The story started describing Tedra, the heroine, in her rented apartment, and from the first page we are well aware she's in a different world - a world of technology, labour-saving devices and computers on a planet with no natural vegetation and where people aren't "born", they are created via IVF and incubated through artificial wombs. Tedra is a Sec 1 which is a member of the security forces and she's proud of her skills.

When the government is taken over by a man working in concert with a warrior tribe of people from another planet, Tedra realises she has to leave and escape as Sec 1 women are being enslaved by the warriors and carried off to their planet. Although when she meets one of these people she actually finds him rather attractive, she manages to disable him and escape with her computer, Martha, and a robot, Corth.

Much is made of the fact Tedra hasn't been "breached", i.e. is a virgin, and she legally has to give up her virgin status by her 25th birthday (in just a year's time). She has nothing against it, is just waiting for the right man - who hasn't yet shown up.

Tedra travels a long way and eventually Martha decides they have found a good planet for her to start her experience as a trader of goods. Tedra is transported (in a rather Star-Trek manner) to the planet surface and immediately runs into Challen, a very tall warrior who she finds instantly appealing. The rest of the story is about their culture clashes and his apparent refusal to believe that she is actually from another planet. They have multiple clashes of wills with Challen thinking she should submit to his authority and Tedra being reluctant to do so. Their relationship appears to be cemented through sex and eventually he and some of his warriors help her wage war against the coup leader on her planet so that it is all fixed again. She returns to Challen's planet to live there as his wife.

It's a nicely-written story with amusing dialogue, a light touch and a lot of fun. Nothing too taxing for the brain but an enjoyable way to while away an afternoon.

In the future on a distant planet, Tedra must flee her world when it is taken over by an evil dictator and his army of warriors. Her ship, piloted by her clever computer, lands on the warrior's home planet, where she intends to recruit her own army. She finds Challen, a leader of his city, and quickly discovers that this world is not one to accept women in such a strong position. Furious over this predicament, she challenges the warrior to show him her skills, but eventually loses to him. The price for losing the challenge is for Tedra to become subservient to him in "the place where he sleeps" for 30 days. Honorbound, she agrees, never realizing the bliss that this warrior would give her. Now she has only to remain his servant, build an army, and rescue her home planet.
This is a neat departure for Lindsey. This sci-fi romance is fast-paced, exciting, and very humorous. Other than Tedra's occasional chattiness, she was a likable character: strong, independent, and enterprising. Challen was, of course, perfectly formed, strong and tender, although rather chauvinistic which was understandable regarding his setting. A very enjoyable read.

The thing I like most about Johanna Lindsey's books is that it hooks you in right from the start and keeps you there. A regular hook, line, and sinker. This book is no exception. Lindsey give us what most romance authors rarely succeed in doing. A heroine that is able to defend and fight for herself while still maintaining the air of feminity.
Tedra De Arr, a fearless Sec 1 out in space trying to find help for her captive home planet, Krystan. Unfortunately good help is hard to find, especially if you're facing the barbaric Sha-Ka'ari. But then she stumbles onto a planet that has men as barbaric and handsome as the Sha-Ka'ari.
Challen Ly-San-Ter has no idea how to make of Tedra as she appears on his planet like magic. When their pride clashes and challenges are issued Tedra losses to the fight, therefore letting Challen to claim her for a month.
For one month they are together... oh the troubles and victories they both come upon. This book is a hilarious riot with the everloving Mock II computer Martha at Tedra side, and the barbaric Challen Ly-San-Ter. He must perform his duties, he must issue punishments, but he must also give into the love that he knows that he feels for his Chemar.
Even though this is a science fiction/fantasy/romance, it's worth every minute you take to read this. High Recommended.
