This workbook/grammar review does its job well. Jane Straus has organized the material well. The practice exercises are brief and to the point, and she covers the major points--those problem points that so easily trip us up in our writing. I find the material very useful.

I was very frustrated teaching my son grammar, but he actually liked this book. The online videos are a big help also. The only complaint is that there doesn't appear to be a way to save the online tests without a membership.

I now require this book as a required review resource for new grad students. The book contains simple, straightforward, and helpful explanations of basic grammar rules as well as practical exercises. I believe Straus' book is one of the best quick-guides to grammar available.

Even a well-read person can make grammar and punctuation errors. The book is well-organized and suitable as a reference. I had questions regarding punctuation in dialog and "lie" vs. "lay". The question of whether it is property to use a conjugation of "lie" vs. "lay" was something I didn't know more than 30 years after getting a degree in English literature! This book is up on the shelf by my desk and already has a ton of yellow stickies in it.

Usually, I buy the Kindle version whenever it is available. Because I've written notes in the text and I always use The Blue Book at my desk, I opted for the print version. Before you choose between Kindle and Print, I would carefully consider how you will use the book. I'm glad I got it in print, even though that's outside my normal preference.

A must have for anyone who writes. Every grammar and punctuation is beneficial because each collection has descriptions that are a little bit different. Where one may be confusing, another can bring light.

This Blue Book is an excellent book! Its very easy to understand and can be very helpful to students from a pretty low grade through high school and beyond, depending on the student. It worth the money.

THE BLUE BOOK OF GRAMMAR AND PUNCTUATION is an essential handbook of English grammar and punctuation. I like it because the authors give specific instructions to understand each topic. The book also helps me to verify what I already know. It discusses a number of important topics. I'd love to see a chapter on CONJUNCTIONS on a future edition of the BLUE BOOK as many other recognized books do not provide such precise information on a topic as THE BLUE BOOK does.

For example, the Oxford Learner's Dictionaries list the phrase 'as well as' under Idioms whereas Merriam-Webster dictionary puts them under two parts of speech: conjunction and preposition. Collins English Dictionary simply gives some sample sentences wherein 'as well as' is used. As their descriptions are insufficient, it is very time-consuming for a teacher to convince a pupil the function of 'as well as' in certain sentences:

Example: 'David loves Anne as well as Jane.'

Can we say 'as well as' in the said sentence functions as a preposition or a conjunction? You could simply say 'It could be either.'

As such, I feel that an excellent book like THE BLUE BOOK could do better in a similar situation.

Moreover, as an English Language teacher with twenty-seven years of experience, I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves to be consistent in writing. The authors of the book have researched leading reference books on American English grammar and punctuation including The Chicago Manual of Style, The Associated Press Stylebook, Fowler's Modern English Usage, and many others. The authors give useful notes when the authorities differ.

Thank you.

Excellent brush up . When you don't use something it has no value. I needed a refresher course or reminder of writing etiquette. If we don't use it we lose it. It was imperative with some recent projects I clearly was out of practice and needed to brush up on my writing skills.

There is an 11th edition for the same price! Ugh, come on. I just bought this 10th edition, only to have a recommendation for the 11th edition pop up after the purchase. To the authors - please have your 10th edition book priced lower than your 11th edition and please mark the 10th edition's page with a note letting shoppers know that there is an 11th edition now. Thank you.

A must-have for those studying English! It provides answers for all the tricky questions that appear when we are writing: is it who or whom?, how is dialogue punctuated?, etc. It also includes a list of words that are usually misspelt. Really useful. Learners are invited to join a mailing list to receive quizzes and tips on difficult topics.
