Jim Rickards provides another prescient look into the future of our monetary system. The last 30 pages or so are especially helpful as I have read those several times. Excellent job of breaking down the problems of our monetary and fiscal policy, and realistic enough not to try and sell us any false hope. There is no fix. Only steps you can take to prepare for the inevitable collapse. Excellent and enjoyable read.

A little technical in some pages but an EXCELLENT informative eye-opener! Definitely something everyone that can read should try to tackle because of the incredible information, exposure of corruption and ways to protect ourselves and/or prevent for the future. This book will knock you into next Sunday.

If you really want too know what's happening around the world and why this is the book. James pulls back the curtain and let's you see what's really going on. I highly recommend it to anyone who really wants to understand international finance and how to prepare for the future.

This book, takes Currency Wars, his previous work, to a conclusion. Reading it made my head hurt. It is a scholarly work, with facts that support his view.
It's is a peek at what's coming and it isn't pretty.
There are only a few truly gifted people in this space, and he's tops. I've re-read and send a copy to all my skeptical friends to see how they can poke holes in his point of view.
It's going on now, and gave me the impression that I have 3-5 years max before USD and our un-payable debt comes home to roost, and with it disruption.
His take on the next "reserve currency" is so logical and compelling it is hard to ignore.
If you're a US citizen, you would take heed to his point of fact based view. He's giving us a heads up on how to position ourselves to come out a bit bloody but in good form from the other end.
The headache part is really understanding the analysis part of his view. If you're looking for the "Dummies Guide to Surviving the end of the US hegemony as the reserve currency" this book isn't for you. This has to be read, it's an intelligent and scholarly work and the audience has to measure up. You're taking an advanced class in monetary theory. You'll get out what you put in, and at time may have to refer to either his previous work for context or works of others, like Stockman to gain the most.
This is "black swan" event driven, nor "Trends Journal" prognostications, although I give a tip of the hat to "Trends" because he saw this; Rickards just puts it 3D/HD crystal clarity, how and a timeline based on expertise, facts and scientific principals.

Does a very good job of explaining the complex financial system and the ephemeral role of fiat currency. His analysis and conclusions are quite controversial...but sadly believable in this age of runaway deficits and loose monetary policies.

Great analysis of the complexities and vulnerabilities of the global financial system, presented in an engaging style. Gripping and not dry. However, Rickards misses big on the recent strength of the dollar. While that's a big fault, the book is worth reading and thought provoking.

Well written and thoroughly documented. The scenario is quite scary, and most people wouldn't have the means to use the protective measures recommended. However, solutions are provided in the book for those who can take advantage of them. I hope this never happens, but with the immense debt of our country and the ease of printing money, there probably isn't much chance.

Unexciting but important information explained very well for the general reader. The writer walks a fine line between explanations that are too simple on one hand to learn much, and too detailed and complex to understand on the other. There is much more practical information here than you will find in a typical college economics textbook.

I had worried that the book would contain wild speculation and fear-mongering. That was not the case. Instead, Mr. Rickards is a serious author who obviously knows his subject well. Although the reading was at times a labor I found it worthwhile to slog through even the most dense parts of this book. He provides insights that I hadn't encountered anywhere else and answered questions such as "why to the central bankers want to increase inflation?" I'd rate he book timely and important to your financial survival.

It's coming ---24 trillion is the tipping point--are you prepared? Obama is screwing the last holdout keeping the Dollar as the Worlds reserve currency for crude oil--Saudi Arabia--with the Iran debacle --an excellent book trying to tell the truth no politician will tell!!

He has captured the mindset of Asians. Having lived in Asia for over 5 years, I realize that sometimes other countries get a superficial idea of what success is and how it is achieved. There is more to success than infrastructure and facilities. Success in America is sometimes perceived as it is displayed in movies which is misleading to other cultures.

Most informative on the history of money. But, this book shows us their is a very very serious concern for the people who have their savings in a currency that has lost a major part of it's value. The writer gives good advice on what we should do. The future is here.

We are navigating uncharted waters, but based on historical information it is quite likely that hard times are ahead of us. I personally believe that inflation will come hard on us in the not too distant future, but at the same time we must be humble enough to understand and acknowledge that it is impossible to know for sure what the economy will bring us in the next few years.

This book had been recommended to me and lived up to my expectations. As with many financial books books, there are sections that get dry and tedious, but overall, it kept my interest and explained some complex things in an understandable way.

This book very revealing as to how shaky the financial system is in the world and particularly in the U. S. Every one who cares about their investments and the financial health of our nation should read this. Our government is failing us and selling us down the river in my estimation.

Very informative. With this book, I learned a lot about international money systems. I believe I am now much better prepared to watch for signs of likely changing world events and what I should do about them. He uses a lot of words that are beyond my high school educated mind (I don't like to go to the dictionary every 5 minutes) but I understood the general concepts. I am definitely glad I purchased this book.

Author has an outstanding knowledge of the financial system. A little difficulty in communicating the whole picture to me, but the section on why the FEDERAL RESERVE BANK, itself a creation of and for the big banks, wants inflation, with all of the detailed reasoning and ramifications, is worth the price of the book.

No doubt you've read doom and gloom predictions regarding what can go wrong in today's economy. This is a compelling, incisive look at the risks run by current policies that have a long-term track record of causing upheaval.

The Author does a good job of explaining the complex concepts of global monetary policy. Its a bit of history mixes with current conditions and the policies that got us all from there to here. It covers interesting concepts about gold whether on a gold standard or not, gold is considered as money by people and countries and may be the key to restoring confidence if it is lost.

The author described / listed quite a few interesting details about the modern global money system. The best part of the book.

On the other hand he went on and on about the gold standard of money and how we should go back to it. Showing that he too doesn't really understand what money fundamentaly is either.

Jim Rickards does a great job explaining the implications of our current economic reality and what led us here. He thoroughly covers world economics and the complex inter-relationships between countries, world banks and the various asset classes.

Since 2011's Currency Wars Rickards had been a voice in the darkness to help understand the issues that are ongoing in our finically markets. With The Death of Money he has delivered a tour de force follow up.

A brilliant man and a brilliant expression of his lifes study of the financial system.
I have no doubt that I will see Financial Armageddon for the FIAT money system in my lifetime after reading this book.
A confirmation of everything I have been seeing and thinking for the last 10 years!

The research which went into the writing of this book is impressive indeed.
I may not agree with all of the authors sense of impending doom, but this book makes for great conversation and lively debates amongst my group of financial types.

Provoking reading. Can America really be in the same predicament as Greece? If you read this it appears that all China would have to do is call in the debt that America owes to bring down our country!! The five investments the writer finally recommends to protect your wealth are, in the main, totally impractical for a typical investor.

Great book, worthwhile reading, just like his previous book, Currency Wars. Rickards points out how the world's central banks, which now all issue fiat currency, are trapped, where they likely will not be able to find an exit before they blow up the world's financial system.

It seems clear that the Federal Reserve is the biggest threat to our liberty and financial well being, and should be abolished. The Fed is something like the Soviet Politburo, a group of (mostly) men sitting around a table who have the conceit that they are smart enough to determine what the 'right' quantity and price of money should be, much like the Communists in earlier years would try to figure out how much corn the Russian farmers should grow, or the number of cars to be produced. The very idea that 12 Fed Governors can determine this for a $15 trillion economy where > 300 million people make billions of financial decisions each day is preposterous. The Fed's 'debt based' monetary system, by design, must be expanded each year or it will implode, and with required expansion comes inflation. So the Fed sucks the wealth out of working people and savers, transferring that wealth to the banks and the government, both of which get to borrow at subsidized (low) interest rates.

I suspect Rickards is right that this isn't likely to end well. Take his advice, and put some of your net worth into real money: gold.

All he writes about appears to be happening before our eyes, and the consequences seem unavoidable as Rickards details. His explanations of how the fed, treasury, BIS, and soverign funds operate is the best by far I have ever read. Reads like a real life thriller that was hard to put down.

Ominous yet informative. Take his advice or don't, but it's impossible not to dismiss his ideals, connections made, and linkages discovered throughout the book that could result in a metaphorical "avalanche" on the world's international monetary system as it exists today. Also fascinating to read about certain historical empires and their downfalls, or major monetary mistakes. Great read.
