Ellie and Sebastian are friends that have made a bond that if either one has anything happen the other one will do anything to rescue them. They are seniors with life ahead of them. They have lived in the Arc since the asteroids destroyed Earth. The monitors show the devistation out side at all times. Children grow up and their world expands and life gets in the way of reality
This book is fun and still a fascinating story. I would recommend. This to anyone who likes a great book. I'm reviewing this as Arc book if you would like to leave you opinion use the reviews. If you want to read free first contact the authors and ask to join their teams. You get to give your opinion, read free, and read first. It can be exiting and you can apply to any author you like. The new ones need feed back the worst so are easier to join the team. I find it worth it and is such fun for a book addict like me.

This doesn't happen often but I really struggled to get through this book. I kept waiting for the excitement to build but it never happened. It was just too slow paced for me I guess. It has ruined my desire to continue reading the series. It might be great to someone else but for me it was just okay...

I was pleasantly surprised with the story line. Since there are so many distopian novels written over the past few years, they all seam the same. This goes along similar lines but the characters are likable and the have been a few things that were not expected either. My only suggestion is to double check spelling during the editing and the phrasing of the sentencing. There were a few minor glitches that are and can be easily over looked, but this series would be nice to see in paperback. I am looking forward to the fourth book already.

Probably fine for young readers, but for this 30-something, it felt a bit drawn out. There was a nice twist at the end. I considered continuing the series, but when I found out there are 4+ books, I decided I wasn't interested enough to make the commitmet.

This is a post-apocalypse, living-in-a-bomb-shelter novel with an interesting twist. From time to time, seemingly random people disappear from this small community never to be seen or heard from again. They are the "Tainted" and, although we never really understand what that means exactly or what happens to those who are tainted, it casts an ominous shadow over the novel.

A sense of unease permeates the story. You might be tainted. Someone you know might be tainted. The people in this shelter live every day with this mysterious thing hanging over their heads. This is quite effective in setting the mood.

Less effective is the language of the novel. Occasionally a word or phrase will be a bit ... clunky. Not necessarily incorrect, but distracting. Words that don't quite fit, tenses that don't quite match. Things like "I rub at my eyes tiredly," or "the look I saw on his face makes me hesitate."

Finally the ending was a bit of a let down. We are left with more unanswered questions than we had at the beginning. We don't really understand what's different about the "Tainted," but we get a glimpse of how things are way different than anyone expected. The mystery deepens, setting up the second book in the series.

First off, let me say that I genuinely liked this book. I found the story compelling, and it always drew me on to read "just one more chapter". I think the premise was interesting, even though it's not vastly different from many other dystopias out there. I also liked how Elle (the heroine) was not a stereotypical female action hero -- she has a lot of weaknesses, but she is willing to fight for the ones she loves. Honestly, she reminds me a lot of Lena from Delirium, except that she isn't as annoying as Lena. Fortunately.

There are two reasons why I didn't give this book the full five stars. Firstly, I felt that the editing was perhaps not the best. There were a few run-on sentences, and the writing felt clunky at times. Secondly, you would have thought that, having grown up in the ARC, Elle would have gotten used to it, and not be so sensitive to the feeling of being underground. Despite this, she feels constricted a lot, and has trouble going into small spaces. The fact that she's not comfortable with the only life she's ever known seems unlikely to me.

My verdict? Take a chance and download this book. If you read it and you find that it's not for you, then no harm done. If you like it, buy the next one. As for me, Talented (book 2) is the next thing on my wish list.

I absolutely enjoyed this book from start to finish. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first set it. Tainted is full of secrets and is really gripping. I’m a massive fan of books that make you question everything and this book is one of those. There is so much going on for the characters and it’s a weird situation that they are all in. I was really smitten with Sebastian from the very start. He is fully mysterious and even at the end, I’m still wanting to find out more about him. It doesn’t end in a happily ever after as it’s only book 1 but it’s left me wanting a lot more from this series. Can’t wait to read the next instalment.

I actually read this in the Fractured world's series box set.
WOW! Hooked from the start. Absolutely riveting. I wanted more and knew it was going to end before I got answers. However, it was so well written, I want more and will grab the next book Talented. You know the phrase "Curiosity killed the cat?" Nope, it sends you somewhere new and exciting in search of the boy she only just discovered she loves before he’s taken.

Tainted was a very interesting read. I loved the concept of the survivors of an asteroid strike being huddled together in a bunker. Every year, people in the bunker are tested for sickness, those that are found to be positive for this 'taint' disappear and are never seen again. Elle loses her best friend through the test and now she'll stop at nothing to get him back.

I enjoyed tainted. It reminded me of some of the books by HM Hoover and Monica Hughes (though written for an older audience) and I had a great time trying to work out what the 'taint'. I will admit that the reason for the taint was not what I had considered, so I give the writer lots of kudos for that.

I thought the main character had great potential despite her disinclination to actively find stuff out until the last 3rd of the book. Some of the secondary characters needed more expansion but I do accept that we are in the head of a teenager.

My main issue with the book involved the romance(s). Yep...love triangle off the starboard bow.. And like most triangles, it seems written just because the writer wanted one. The romance is the weakest part of the book and I didn't think it was needed.

All in all, a great read and I am definitely getting the sequel.

This book was interesting. Was going in circles really. Kinda confusing some because you have to really pay attention to figure out what is happening. Elle and her friends seem like idiots when it comes to the surface. And what is up with Ryan? 13 years older than Elle and she is 17 either he is the guy that saved her when she was 2 or family somehow or he has a thing for a very young Elle. He seems creepy but hot.
