I love the book more. A deeper more intimate view of the characters. The story is intriguing and unique. Four viewpoints alternating masterfully makes the space opera/dystopian novel truly amazing.

Fantastic read that ends with a huge plot twist! If you've seen the tv show then don't let that stop you from reading. The plot line was totally different and it was super cool to learn more in depth of your favourite characters. Would defiantly recommend.

After watching the first season of the TV show, I thought I would already know where this book was going and how it would get there. However, and as always, the book is very different from the show and although they are different, I enjoyed them both, albeit for different reasons. The book gives much more insight to life on the ship which I found helpful in explaining some of the characters' actions both in the book and show. I really enjoyed reading this book and learning about the post-apocalyptic world Kass Morgan created.

The only reason I am reading the books is because I am a huge fan of the show. The book is slow and lacks depth in areas. It is very predictable at times. I still enjoy the plot and characters. I also thoroughly enjoy how Kass Morgan uses flashbacks to give readers more insight into the characters.

Interesting, very different from the tv show. Not as many twisted, suspenseful turns as the show has. But still a good book. I'm a fan of the character Belllamy so that was an very high bonus for me :)

Great Book. Very entertaining. Quick and easy read. The TV series doesn't follow the book faithfully, but the essence is true to the story. This makes it more interesting to me to both read the book and watch the series. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

This book was really well written it gave great insight to the characters and was very entertaining however I feel that there was not much suspense and although interesting things happened in the book it was not particularly eventful.

I was expecting something similar to the show on the CW, but was pressed with something else entirely. That was fine at first, until I continued reading and found no riveting plot or dynamic characters. It's all kind of poorly written. Especially the characters. That said, I still plan on reading the rest of the series (because I'm a closure freak).

I've loved the television version of The 100 ever since it premiered. Finally decided to read the books. Enjoyed how different the book was including all the new characters. Can't wait to read book number two!

Love this series.
I am reading them after having binge-watched the first 2 seasons of the CW show on Netflix.
Wish the show included the Glass storyline as I think it is very emotionally gripping & sad/painful while being hopeful at the same time.
Bellamy's original storyline so far is MUCH more descriptive of his reasons for being so protective of Octavia. The broken/damaged/terrified aspect of their mother explains their relationship much more fully & adds a lot of depth to both characters.
Clarke's lab discovery is heartbreaking & uncomfotable & probably too horrible for TV entertainment so I get not including this one, but it does lend a hand in understanding Clarke's internal struggle, almost self-loathing.
If you like the show you'll be sucked right onto the books. The character development is so much better.

Some very cheesy teenage romance u have to sift through, but the main story and twist kept me reading. From the gasps and shock I went through reading I can say it's almost as good as the show so far.

I'm absolutely in love with all the main characters, some more then others. It's a easy read and I didn't get bored at all. Only thing I wish it didn't end with a many huge cliffhangers! Seriously I understand you have to have a dramatic ending and have the need to read the next book, but holy crap!!!! I'm really looking forward to next one! :)

This was really engaging! I missed the tv show and usually enjoy the books better anyway. The idea of a return to earth after a cataclysm is frightening at best. The author did a great job. I can't wait for more.

I read this after viewing the season premier; then, of course, I had to compare it to the book. I also pre-ordered the next book. Oh, I liked the book better than the TV version. I'm still going to watch the TV series.

The book was a little more juvenile than I expected it to be after watching the show and admiring it for the intelligence in character development. For what it was, it was well-written, but left more to be desired.

Wanted to see what the books are like after watching the TV show. Lots of changes but enjoyed the backstory. Not as good as the show. Surprised they only got to a certain point in the story by the end of book one.

The 100 is the story of four teens living on a spaceship high above earth. But 100 delinquents remaining in containment are about to be sent to earth. The first in decades, why because Earth is Earth anymore its a nuclear wasted planet that humans escaped many years ago. But supplies are running low on the ship, and air isn't going to last much longer. So they've decided the lucky 100 wont be put to death just yet they can be used to test Earth and see if it'll be safe for the rest of the colony to go back home. The book is told in four point of views: Clarke, Wells, Bellamy, and Glass. All convicted for various reasons except for Bellamy who just wants to be with his sister to protect her like he's always done. Most of the story is in italicized flashbacks.

The Good
Normally I despise a lot of flashbacks in books but in this one its needed. Without it you wouldn't know things about your main characters, why they are convicted, personal past information, etc. Character development with the four main ones was ok I mean more could've been done but with it being the first book I'm crossing my fingers and hoping it gets better.
"We don’t get a lot of story time on Walden. There aren’t many books, so I used to make up fairy tales for Octavia when she was little. Her favorite was about an enchanted trash can." -Bellamy from Kass Morgan’s The 100.

The Bad
Since it was split into four point of views I often got irritated and wanted to be back on Earth and not on the ship. I mean sure the ship points were nice cause then you get to keep up with what's going on the ship as well as Earth but I thought what was happening on Earth was a bit more interesting that and the character Glass was not my favorite...
Though I enjoyed the flashbacks I wish that more was put into the current things that were happing. It was more rushed and not as detailed as the flashbacks were. Also 95 other delinquent teens had little to no character development so when mentioned you either forgot about them and/or didn't care due to them obviously not going to be important within the series.

Brief Thoughts
Though The 100 had its up and downs for me I will definitely be picking up the second book once its out and I'm actually looking forward to the TV show that will be coming soon January 2014 on The CW.
Updating: I don't care for the tv show and probably wont continue with the series just since im worried the authors going to try and mimic it to fit the show...
