I am giving this book four stars and debated about giving it a fifth, but the actual storytelling didn't justify a fifth star, in my opinion. The plot is extremely creative and unique, most of the characters have a decent amount of depth, the action is quick and ongoing. Unfortunately, for me, there was something undefinable missing. It did not hold my attention as much as I expected it to, nor did the ending really develop completely.

It is a good book and well worth reading. I simply think Mr. Dayle is capable of even more and I look forward to another book from him.

By the first third of the book you understand there has seldom been a literary adventure protagonist that had the nativity and stupidity of Jake our hero here.Too bad because the idea of a cruise ship surviving the end of the world had real possibilities. Unfortunately all you really get in the plot is Jake surpassing each idiotic move with one even more unbelievable. Throw in a cast of characters that do not resemble anyone you have ever known and the possible interesting twist on survivor scenarios gets completely ruined.

I enjoyed this book quite a bit. The setting was unique for an "end of the world" story, which was nice, and I found the writing both easy to follow and engaging. I only gave 4 out of 5 stars because I felt the ending was a little abrupt. I would definitely read more by this author.

This novel keeps you awake rushing throughout the entire book to get to the conclusion. I recommend this novel to everyone whether you like this genre or not. It has something for each reader that you will wish it was longer so we could see how the survivors continue their lives and if they'll find more survivors out there somewhere. I truly enjoyed this novel and can't wait to read more of Harry Dayle novels. Relax and enjoy this novel if you can because I was on edge of my seat most of the time, relaxed, not! Great read!

I absolutely hated this book! Captain of ship crazy tries to kill 3 rd Officer. 3rd officer kills Captain. Very depressed & stupid over his having to do so. 2nd officer dead from SHTF METOR that destroys most of humans on earth. Mutiny by some dip stick passengers wanting to take over ship. Captain Jake kisses behind and let's them help run ship harassing crew. Captain Jake goes against his security chief saying no gun kiss behind & talk, gets people killed, allows 1 crew member that was taken to be reason for his cowardly actions. Should have killed ring leaders, armed his security there by saving problems all the way around. THE AUTHOR HAS DONE A TERRIFIC JOB IN STIRRING UP A READERS EMOTIONS.

A decent premise but the execution fell flat. From the beginning there was no expectation of hope so to me that was the end of the story. Where can you go with a story that has no where to go? The characters....meh...didn't care about a single one of them. The hero was so ...unhero...sorry it just didn't do it for me. Your mileage may vary.

Don't read this book expecting heroics of the sort that you might find in other sci-fi/end of the world novels. It is an easy way to pass some time, but it is not going to be a read that will hang with you afterwards. Some will say the main character is more realistic, but if I want true realism I won't be reading sci-fi.

This is an excellent series. It brings in new characters as you read through the book and brings in new twists and turns. I am looking forward to reading the last installment as soon as it comes out. I stayed up late just to finish the 2nd book... didn't want to put it down!!

While the basic story line is slightly plausible, the main character, Jake Noah is probably the worst lead ever in a series. In the first book alone, he faints twice and pees himself once. He is so anti gun that he almost starts crying every time he sees one. He seems to have the common sense of a gnat, and that's not being very fair to gnats in general to say that, yet some how he managed to make first officer on a cruise ship, and after the catastrophe became the captain, which is even scarier. Nobody in their right mind would want to be on anything with him in charge. The writing is good enough to keep things flowing along, even with the glaring improbabilities. I am half way through the second book, and I bought the series, so I am going to try to tough my way through to the end.
