The Shell Collector: Stories

One of the best short story collections I've read. Sometimes Doerr becomes a little too enamored with word-play, but that's probably because he's so great at it. That would be my only complaint. Which should speak highly of him.

Again, within a few pages, entire worlds are created and populated with deep, rich and oh so real characters that we live, breathe and ache with as they go through their lives. I have one more book of his to read and I dread being finished.

Prose written in silk guided by a master artist hand. I was delighted by this collection of short stories purchased on a whim. It's been a long time since I have been moved by simple prose so beautifully written. He writes the English language in a perfect pitch.

Doerr takes the reader to his world of descriptive wonder - every page has a line that could be a quote - sit back and relax -you will most likely want to go back and read thru some of these stories a second time just for the sheer enjoyment of the read

Anythony Doerr is a well publicized author. The book cover is flawless, the print inside adequate for the reader of any age. Doerr's collection of award wining short stories amaze the reader. Very evocative and powerful writing. In the classical sense, the author uses his art to mirror American society as well as newly immigrated Americans. His stories of nature and struggle are excellent.
