Little Broken Things had me hooked from the first chapter. Liz, the mother, Quinn and Nora the daughters, are part of a wealthy estranged family. The arrival of the little girl Lucy starts to bring these women together. The mystery, secrets and lies start to unravel. This book and characters were well written and my heart broke for little Lucy.

I received an advanced copy of this book from the Great Thoughts Great Readers Ninja Review Team in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.
I mostly enjoyed this book but found parts of it confusing and parts of it really disturbing. I loved the matriarch of the family. She was by far my favorite character. I also liked the first half of the book more than the second half. I’m not sure why that was but the ending dragged a bit for me.
All in all, this was a good read with lots of action and suspense.

A story of a dysfunctional family filled with past secrets that eventually come to light as the story progresses. Fast paced and filled with complex characters, I found the story to be overall well done, but there were a few holes in the plot and unbelievable moments. Written in different view points, the story flows right along and although the twist wasn’t hard to figure out, I still enjoyed the book.

I received an Advance Review Copy of this book. All Opinions are my Own.
This book has been compared to Big Little Lies, but I think it stands all on its own. I love stories with strong characters and plot lines, and this one did not disappoint. Quinn was a great main character, and her relationship with Nora really sucked me in from the beginning. Definitely recommend this for readers who like the slow burn mystery genre!

I received an advanced review copy of this book from The Great Thoughts Ninja Review Team. All opinions are my own. I have to be honest that in the beginning this book dragged for me. I couldn't get into it and I couldn't get to that point where you can't stop reading until the very end. But I stuck with it and I am so glad that I did. This little sleeper of a book that started out as a snooze for me turned fabulous. It's a strong plot with engaging characters that you become emotionally involved with and yes I reached that point where I didn't want to stop reading until the very last page. Well done. Very well done Nicole. So yes definitely pick this one and plan to be as pleasantly surprised as I was. Happy reading!

I have always enjoyed anything by Nicole Baart and she just keeps getting better and better. Little Broken Thing was a page turner, without some of the offensive language and content found in other similar authors works. I will ready anything she writes!

I eagerly bought this book after reading another one of Nicole Baart's novels, and I wasn't disappointed. It's a gripping tale of secrets. real life gritty family situations, and also restoration. I would recommend this book for those looking for a suspenseful story that doesn't brush over messy family dynamics, but instead dives right into them.

I really struggled with this book. By the blurb it sounded like something I would love. I mean it had for fans of Liane Moriarty in it. I should know by now to ignore those sorts of comparisons. I found this to be slow and it didn’t hook me at all. I didn’t love the characters although I did kind of like Quinn. I would have wanted more of a story around her and her life. The mystery or whatever you want to call it in the book wasn’t great. I wound up heavy skimming to just see what happened. I think I might be the odd one out on this book though. Others seem to like it a lot more.

This story started out well, grabbing my interest immediately, but went downhill from there. :(
I have something for you reads the text message Quinn Cruz receives from her older sister Nora. Nora’s “something” is more shocking than Quinn could have ever imagined: a little girl, cowering, wide-eyed, and tight-lipped. Nora hands her over to Quinn with instructions to keep her safe, and not to utter a word about the child to anyone.
As I’ve stated, Little Broken Things grabbed me initially, but didn’t hold the suspense and intrigue it began with. The story seemed to wander without knowing exactly where it wanted to land. However, a story can usually be saved if you give me a big surprise twist. The twist here didn’t do anything for me and once it was revealed, was almost passed over. It felt rushed and over too quickly. I think too much time was spent on other points and not on closing what should have been the big focus of the book.
Little Broken Things was done well enough that I finished it. I’m glad I read it, but it didn’t leave a lasting impression and I would hesitate before reading another book by this author.
