I cannot say enough good things about this book. After a few days my husband said, "whatever you've been doing the last several days, I love it. Keep doing it!" After three days! This book is good to read at any stage of marriage; I've been married for about 1.5 years. I've had some "ah-ha" moments when my girlfriends complain about certain attributes of their husbands and now I can trace back to the wives' behavioral choices. This is a great tool for when girlfriends ask for advice. I love this book!

This book has helped my marriage! Being my first marriage, and without much relationship knowledge, this humorous book did a great job of helping me understand my husband, and improving myself as a wife.

Even though I read the book "The Total Woman" back in the 80's a wife tends to forget while life gets in the way. Julie's book is so readable that I have not put it down the last 3 days and finished it in less that 48 hours. I would suggest that you also have a journal or composition notebook with you when you read the book if you are sincerely wanting to improve your marriage and what woman isn't? Not only are you given the 8 A's to learn and apply she also adds in advanced training and multiples scenarios which you will easily identify with. This book should be given to every bride at a shower and sisters for their birthday or anniversarys. You will get much out of it, becoming closer to your Creator, as well as being the best wife you can be!!!

I've been married for 14 Wonderful Years and have a great marriage. Wife School added so much more to an already happy marriage. I believe I can always learn something so I didn't mind reading especially since the Kindle version was free to the store Prime members. This book is so good I'm going to buy the paper copy to keep on hand.

These principles took my good marriage to fabulous. It made me realize so much about myself and that I can't change my husband, only myself. And when I make the changes in myself my husband responds in amazing ways and everyone is happy. Love this book, easy read and I think every wife needs to read it and then read it again!

So very practical and helpful for all stages of marriage. The power of the Holy Spirit in us allows us to live beyond what we could ever hope for and Wife School gives the tools to be successful in marriage. Big A+!

I actually borrowed this book from a neighbor just to critique and to add to my many marriage self help books. I loved it. I rate it as a book on marriage that actually works. Ladies this is a must buy. It is written as a story which really helps the medicine go down if you get my drift! Julie Gordon must write from her own experiences. I could see myself in so many pages as you will also. Don't hesitate, run and order it, if you really want a better marriage for you and your husband!

The good:
This book provides invaluable advice. That is the bottom line. It is scriptural - we as human beings created in God's image are called to humble ourselves, and lift others. Wives are no different. In a Christian marriage, the husband is the head of the family, and the wife is the neck. The husband is as Lord (Sarah, in fact, called her husband as such) and the wife is as church. The only thing we can control is our own attitudes and behavior. The advice given on this book, The lessons are invaluable and timeless. This is not a fad book.
The bad:
That being said, (and as a former atheist) I can see why some women are scandalized by the content of this book. ( Overlook his faults ?? Pretend like my needs are met when they most clearly are not?? Tend to his ego?? Outrageous!) The advice given in this book goes against the very core of what women are preached to,what they are taught. Women we see on tv, the women in our lives, our friends, relatives, women we respect and look up to - women of the world - it's a very different attitude and norm. Women are taught to "think of ME and MY desires, put MYSELF first, don't put up with what I disagree with". Christ was the literal total opposite of that, He put himself last to the point of dying for sinners. The content of this book is a tough truth to hear. Some can't handle the truth. And It's sad.
It's sad because although the advice doesn't apply only to Christian marriage, people who find the book offensive will not heed the advice. All men do love to be appreciated, well spoken of, respected, admired and pampered by their wives. What man doesn't love it when his wife makes his favorite meal? It's a shame that many marriages will not benefit from this book.
The ugly:
The book was kind of hokey at times, but I chose to overlook that. I found Jessica's constant pop culture references immensely annoying and unwitty, as if the writer was trying to make her more hip, but she instead just sounds out of tune. Like when an upper middle class soccer mom makes an embarrassing attempt to express herself using "gangsta " lexicon and tells her teenaged child to "get jiggy with it, dawg". No.. just no. Stop. It's unnecessary, it adds nothing to the character and even less to the story. I agree with another reader that it dates the book - in the future it will distract the reader from the point. Without all the pop culture references, the book would have a more timeless and classic effect.
Ladies: read it anyway.
Also ugly the fact I don't have a happys granting genie, but I suppose this detail could not be helped.
Oh and one more thing - there was a reviewer who thought Jessica was over the top selfish - um.... that was the point. Making Jessica subtly selfish would not have had the same effect.
We are all subtly selfish at times - this is just as bad if not worse . While being subtly selfish it's easier to excuse and rationalize the selfishness.
For example, I make my husband's favorite meal rather scarcely because it just takes forever, and its kind of a hassle. That in itself is subtly selfish because I'm thinking of ME and MY convenience. But it's easy to justify.
I don't believe this book will create battered wives, primarily because the author specifically mentions several times throughout the book that the techniques do not apply to cases of abuse and addictions.
All in all this book should be read by anyone in a relationship. I'll be giving it as gifts to ladies getting married, it's truly invaluable. I would encourage the author write more books pertaining to housewives' issues, such as parenting (she's a mom of six, I think), homemaking, etc.
