Patricia Briggs is one of my favorite authors. I love this series, as well as the main character Mercy Thompson. She's a tough, smart, strong woman who doesn't take anyones crap. I love the side series to this as well the Alpha and Omega series. Great love stories as well with werewolves, vampires, fae, and magic.

The short stories nicely fill in the gaps between books and gives more background on certain characters. A very enjoyable read. I think out of the whole book there might have only been 1 story that was just so-so. The rest of them made me want more!

Awesome shorts from my favorite fictional world. I especially loved the opportunity to learn the history of Bran and Samuel. Answered a lot of questions. When re-reading the other books Mercy's world, these stories gave a delightful new light to various characters' personalities, without (at least for me) taking away any of the heart of the series. I've always wanted to know more about Bran and Ariana. And now that I do, I'm happy Bran hasn't lost the mystery or "awe"-factor which makes him what he is to our beloved werewolves, and Mercy.
Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson: Homecoming :: Murder of Crows (The Twenty-Sided Sorceress Book 2) :: Dragon Bones (Hurog Duology Book 1) :: Masques (Sianim Book 1) :: A suspense horror mystery (World's Scariest Places Book 2)

Excellent set of short stories, four of which are new, and the rest wonderful old favorites nicely collected together. I particularly adored the first story "Silver", and it's semi-conclusion toward the end of the collection, an out-take about Samuel and Ariana. I also loved the Adam out-take. The new Mercy ghost story was just plain FUN. Also any story with Asil in it is welcomed! And Ben's story ROCKED - coming from a similar nerd world myself, I could definitely relate (though we have quite a lot of women who do wonderful work in my world, but Ben is... Ben - not a big fan of the feminine). A couple of the stories caused me to pull up the novels that preceded the short story or out-take to remind me of the events, which I found very fun. I loved how Ms. Briggs carefully described when each short story occurred (between which novels) and added author comments for each. These stories round out the Mercy Universe wonderfully and make it even better than it already was. Highly recommended if you are a Mercy and Alpha/Omega dedicated fan like I am! Oh and did I forget to mention how well written the stories are too? Now I just have to wait until March 2015 for the next Alpha/Omega novel to be published... Open...Open...Open... :D

Big fan of Patricia Briggs.....especially her Mercy Thompson and Anna & Charles stories. Even tho I have some of the short stories in other books, I am always anxious to read any new material I can get my hands on!!! Even so, I would say that you would already need to be a fan to really enjoy this book, but if you were looking for something new.....it would draw you right in.

Loved this book. Screw the haters. It doesnt matter if a couple of stories are repeats. PB's body of work is well worth reading multiple times because it is just so good. Waiting for a made for tv series.

Beautiful collection of stories from the Mercedes Thompson universe. I was hesitant to purchase this book as many of the reviews were negative, but I am so glad I got it! Briggs' writing is as intriguing and wonderful as ever. While I think there is only one or two? stories that specifically feature Mercy and Adam, this is not a drawback in any way. Instead, we get to learn more about Samuel, Ariana, Bran, Thomas Hao, Warren, Kyle, Ben, etc. Fantastic book! Definitely worth a read.

This book fills in feelings and thoughts that pop into an saved reader while reading a Mercy Thompson book. Also has a story that quickly catches the reader into the Alpha and Omega series. It's a perfect addition to Patricia Briggs fans. Looking forward to another possible collection that has snippets that did not make it into the books.

These short insights of Patricia Briggs actually define each character explicitly. You come to know them better and finally figure out how she ( Patricia) comes to know them so well. Their stories explain the behind the scene s and the support teams mind set. Everyone is to protect someone else. A very good book to read.

Great to reread the reprinted stories and even better to be able to read the new ones. I almost the link between Thomas in the short story and his reappearance in Frost Burned. He sounds like a very interesting character. I'd like to hear more about him. Maybe he could use Mercy's help with a problem in San Francisco, one of my very favorite cities.

I love the Mercy Thompson world, and all the characters who inhabit it. These short stories fill in some "unknowns" about various characters, which add to the depth of World Ms. Briggs has constructed.
As with all good Series writers, you just wish the next book in the series was on its way to you. These short stories may make it easier to patiently wait for that next volume. I know for me, reading these short works, made me reread a couple of the previous books in the series.

Great stories by Ms. Briggs. the stores filled in more of the background and character-context of the Mercy Thompson series. I like the fact that the author framed the stories and warned of "spoilers" in the series flow. The comments on her writing style were interesting, as well, describing the techniques that work for her. All the stories were a pleasure to read.

Anything that Patricia Briggs writes is fabulous, and this collection is a perfect example. She draws you into the stories, no matter how short, and makes you a party of Mercy's world. Amazing, delightful, delicious - I wish she could publish a new book every day. I would buy every single one and read until dawn...

Excellent, as always. Enjoyed all of the fill in the gap stories, both new and those that were repeats. Enjoyed reading the repeats just as much this time as the first time. And there were enough new stories to keep it from feeling like just a rehash. Still left me hungry for the next full Mercy Thompson novel.

Great stories that help you know secondary characters, and even primary characters, better. Well written, well balanced, entertaining stories with good character development despite the brevity of being short stories. Once again, Briggs delivers when I need a taste of Mercy's world.

This compilation of short stories is nice because it puts all the short stories from the Mercy Thompson and Alpha and Omega books together plus it includes never before seen glimpses in to other character's lives. Also it includes the story of Bran becoming a were wolf. Definite do not miss book!!!

I like everything Patricia Briggs writes. Her characters are very good and although she writes in a fantasy world she doesn't get too carried away with super villains and underdog heroes. This book of short novellas adds dimension to her other books, but can be read as a stand alone.

I enjoyed most of the stories except the three last ones. They had the usual depth Patricia Briggs infuses in her writing but my personal opinion would be that they were too short. They did accomplish two things: explain and round Mercy's world and characters and leave you wanting for more.

I THOUROUGHLY ENJOYED THIS VIEW INTO THE WORLDS OF PATRICIA BRIGGS, IT ANSWERED SOME OF THE QUESTIONS I HAD ABOUT BRAN AND HIS FAMILY EARLY DAYS,AND THEN INTRODUCED A FEW NEW AND OLD FRIENDS.

I have read all of Patricia Briggs books over the years and thoroughly enjoyed them. I was reluctant to try this book of short stories because her books were so completely perfect as published. Well, I was wrong. I should have had faith that Ms. Briggs just made all the books even better because of these finishing touches.

Love the short stories especially between Ariana and Samuel and some further explanation of the werewolf history In Mercy Thompson and Alpha and Omega series. Would advice everyone to complete reading all books before reading this book.

Love Patricia Briggs, however these stories didn't have a lot to do with Mercy Thompson, I would have liked to hear more of Bran and Samuel's story and more stories to do directly with Mercy. Loved the Asil story and Bens story was the best.

I love EVERYTHING PB writes!!!! Mercy is one of my favorite characters of all time. These books just flow. There is a cadence and a magic that envelopes you as you read. You are absorbed in Mercy's world... and you never want to leave!

I love this author and these stories are totally awesome, fills in a lot of blanks from her books. Seems she just keeps getting better and better. She communicates the emotions of her characters in heart warming (or wrenching) ways that made me laugh & cry.

Great collection of stories reminding me of all the books in this series. My only complaint is that I want more of Mercy. A lot of insight to many characters and their lives that impacted Marcus life would have loved if you added Stephens story as well.

Patricia Briggs has created a wonderful new fantasy world with realistic characters who struggle with issues that face all of us at one time or another (except for the Fae and Werewolves!). I love this series and can't wait to see where it goes.

I think Patricia Briggs is one of the best writers I have ever read. These stories are great and gives you the information needed to see the characters in their true form. It finishes the stories in the rest of the books. Thanks for a great book.

Disclosure: I like Patricia Briggs' writing. I really like her speculative take on magic and the supernatural in modern American. And I really, really like her werewolf stories.
OK - what can I say about this fantastic collection of superlative short stories that would convince somebody to buy them, and then buy every book in the series? How about, "these would be the best entertainment dollars you've ever spent?"

You lose with any book by Patricia Briggs. I had read a few of these before but this was good as a collection and she identifys where in the series each story belongs. The stories fill in some blanks and expand on Mercy's circle of friends.

This collection of short stories felt like a coming home of sorts and catching up with beloved characters and some new ones as well. So good to read about Asil, Bran, Warren, Charles, Adam and of course Mercy. Definitely worth reading!

Even though this book had some previously published shorts, the new ones were more than worth the money! I really enjoyed the author's explanation of each piece, and I was intrigued by each story, and wished they were whole stand alone novels of their own. Definitely money well spent.

I really enjoyed these stories. It gave me glimpses of other characters lives, histories, thoughts. I would have preferred a full length novel, but I take what I can get, so...thank you Patricia Briggs. Your words and worlds enchant me.

Loved it. Loved them all. Just wish it was longer. If you've read all the books and have to wait until March 2016 for the next mercy book, this might hold u over a bit. Make sure you've read them all, or spoilers.

I love the world of Mercy Thompson and Patricia Briggs never disappoints and did not in her short stories. It was nice having characters who aren't usually the center of the story become the center of the story and getting to know them better.

SO SO SO GOOD! It gives answer to questions readers have had for years and then MAKES YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE! So well put together. Lovely insight into her process and how Alpha and Omega came to me. RECCOMEND!!!

This collection of short stories delighted me with each turn of the page. I found new characters and am now going to read each series written by Ms. Briggs. I've only read Alpha & Omega and Mercy series completely to date and am so happy to have more wonderful stories in my future.
