Looks just as I would imagine the original and had all of the advertisements in it as well. As always this story is a masterclass in crime fiction. Cannot wait for the movie and because of how this looked also bought the similar edition of And Then There Were None!

I love Murder on the Orient Express, but this text is difficult to read...screwy printing. I am going to have to re-order a readable text. I haven't read it in years, but I always watch the movies on this book. I think the story is immensely interesting, as one sees the huge moral dilemma Hercule is facing.

This is a well written, very enjoyable novel. It is classic Agatha Christie. There are no vulgarities and a good deal of gentle humor packaged within a mystery novel.

Although I have read Agathie Christie in the past, I had never read this fine novel. Like other reviewers I decided to read it at this time prior to the release of the newest version of the movie. I had seen the 1974 movie as a youth and therefore had an idea of the story prior to reading this fine novel. This did not really diminish my enjoyment of the reading experience.

I read this novel on Kindle while listening to an audiobook version, narrated by Dan Stevens. Mister Stevens' performance was excellent. However I am very glad I read the novel at the same time, due to a good deal of foreign names and words.

In summary, I completely enjoyed this fine novel. I read an Agatha Christie novel every few months and will continue to do so. Thank You...

So this was the second Agatha Christie book that I read. And I read it immediatly following A Poirot Christmas. As much as I liked this one (probably more than the first), I think that it was a bad idea to read them back-to-back. Roger Ackroyd was very interesting and engaging, but even with that, I still got a little bored by the end. Luckily, she redeemed herself with the ending because it was an awesome twist that I didn't see coming, even though I tried really hard to think of all possibilities and reasons.
The sister, Caroline, was a very funny supporting character in this novel. And Poirot seems to never disappoint.
So I do highly recommend this book, but I feel like since it was so similar to A Poirot Christmas, that I should have read something else in between.
I don't know HOW Christie thinks of such clever twists and turns!

The one best novels with Hercule Poirot in it. Surprise ending that I didn't see coming. As a side note the movie is AWESOME! Just about any book that Agatha Christie and Poirot is the main character is a good read. By the way the person who playes of role of Poirot helped Christie write several of the novels that he is featured in.

Hard to discuss this book without spoilers - I'm not sure I really liked the twist at the end, but I don't think it hurt my enjoyment enough to drop it by a star. The clues were there, although I do think that (at least) one aspect of the murderer's plan seemed to rely on chance to a degree that was a bit hard for me to swallow. Nonetheless, there was a lot of depth to this mystery and it was a pleasure to watch Poirot unravel it all.

A classic tale from a master storyteller. You think you know how it will end, but you don't. Poriot mysteries are always fun in my book, and although my favorite is The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, this one is right up there as a fast-paced, fun character study whodunnit. You won't be disappointed.

Simply another wonderful novel by Ms. Christie. As I have written numerous times, any inspiring mystery novelist should pick up her books and study her techniques: Character development, plot structure, atmosphere, etc... "The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd" would be a perfect place to start. Simply marvelous.

An absolute classic. I confess, I saw the movie first, but that didn't detract from my enjoyment of this novel. True, I saw the film 30 years before I read the book, but that actually made the novel all the better, as I could assign the actors to their roles, which attests to how good the movie version was. At the time, I was impressed by Albert Finney's performance as Poirot (having read many of the books in high school), and impressed by the all-star cast. But, years later, reading the novel felt fresh and something to looked forward to, rather than "Oh, I've seen it". Christie at the top of her game.

I bought this book to read on vacation and hadn’t opened it prior to the trip. Once opened it’s obvious that this is was not professionally published - no publisher info anywhere. The authors name isn’t even on the cover or binding. Paragraphs are incorrectly spaced, words are conjoined without proper spacing, conversations run together, words are seemingly replaced at random, no page numbering, and about half way through the spacing shifts from double to single. As far as I can tell - but have no way of knowing without ordering a real copy - the story is as it should be. Someone definitely attempted to copy the book word for word in a Word doc. and published a bound copy. Complete generic rip-off.

good read, and dagnabit, I was fooled into thinking the red herring was the killer, again, though the language and old words are difficult for the modern reader, if you read enough of her books you can catch on to, Agatha Christie is a great writer and if I have time I will read all of her books and short stories

This story starts slowly but before long you are drawn into the question of who killed Roger Ackroyd and how does everything and everyone connect up? Little by little the narrator, the good doctor-his neighbor, and then Monsieur Poirot himself lead you along the path to the solution of the mystery. A grand adventure is had along the way.

Excellence from Agatha Christie, it's what we expect, and she delivers in this twisty, page turning, mystery plot! Read it before you go see the new movie release, it will enhance your experience, absolutely!

Whenever I read an Agatha Christie novel I feel as if I’ve gone home. From page one, I’m sucked in. Of course, anyone who knows anything about this story knows who the identity of the murderer. It’s the ride aka the tale that Agatha spins to get you there. That’s why I read her novels over and over again.

I enjoy watching films based on Agatha Christie mysteries as they tend to be fun as I try to figure out who is the murderer. However, this is only the 2nd book of hers I've read and I found both of them confusing with the large cast of characters that populate the stories. To the very end of Murder of the Orient Express, I was grappling with trying to remember whose who. Story was also not all that interesting to me. Sorry Agatha, but I'll stick to the films.

Is this a bootleg? It looks like someone printed it in their basement. The words are tiny. I thought I was buying a real book. I am not sure what this is, but it is terrible. I meant to return it but lost track of time. Don't waste your money.

I remember reading this story many years ago and, still, I could not figure out who done the deed. I’ve always liked Agatha Christie’s writing style and her quirky cast of characters, especially Hercule Poirot. It is a classic. If you’ve never read it, you are in for quite a treat.

I like Agatha Christie’s novels and read a number of them, specially the Hercules Pairot ones. Her stories are brilliant and felt a bit let down by this book. I felt that this mystery was a little slow and felt a bit dragged at times. The ending was brilliant and a total surprise.

This classic mystery was relaxing to read while still challenging to the mind. Twists and turns in the plot are vital and prolific, and the denouement is, as always with this author, unexpected. I highly recommend re-visiting this novel.

The ending makes it worthwhile but overall I had a hard time reading. It was slow moving for me and at times I was rather bored. One shouldn't be bored when reading mystery. However, Im glad I finished it because I enjoyed the ending a lot

I love the way Agatha Christie writes. The flow of dialogue, the slow unveiling of clues as she walks us through the investigation. I always find myself drawn into the world she creates, and I find her stories difficult to put down.

This is a well-crafted mystery and it just deepened my desire to read more novels by Agatha Christie. Quite simply, this was a fun and enjoyable murder mystery without gory details and sexual content. Christie's books are classy and cool.

i am finding Agatha Christie becomes very repetitive. I've been reading her mysteries for some time and perhaps with extended exposure to them have come to realize that the stories are somewhat padded with repetitive thoughts of the characters and dialogue. It has become distracting. I still enjoy her books, though.

Probably my favorite film version. Some found the unusual moustache for Poirot distracting. I quickly got used to it and like that Brannagh decided to take a different approach to the style. I loved the cast, found the changes in the plot worked very well.

I've never read Agatha Christy - embarrassed to say - but I'm glad I did. Obviously it's a bit of a time warp in terms of dialect but after getting used to this, the book is definitely fun to read with a great ending. I should have seen it coming but I think I've been conditioned by Hollywood. Anyway, I don't want to talk much about what happens at the end so enough said.

Christy does a great job of keeping you guessing, never really giving you the full picture until the last few chapters. Oh, and it must be said, this is really a quick read and in my opinion should be called a "short story." And I swear, the Parker Brothers must've read this short story and immediately created the game Clue - who killed so and so in the parlor!

Bottom line: would I recommend it? Yep. It's quick, fun a great change of pace from the novels of today.

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd was written and published in 1926, so I don't think there is any fear of descriptive graphic violence or sexual content being a problem. Agatha christie was a master weaver of suspense and enjoyed the art of Writing. This is a good story and should be pleasing to people of intellect. If your penchant is towards vulgar humor, graphic violence or crude behavior, STAY AWAY FROM THIS BOOK.

Agatha Christie at her matchless best. As usual, the murderer is revealed in the final chapter. If you read carefully, however, you strongly suspect who it is before the end. Poirot is seen in a new situation in this book. He has retired to the country to grow his "marrows." Good read.

Nice and entertaining read. A classic mistery novel and a must-read for lovers of the genre. At the end I felt it lacked a bit of complexity in the development of the characters, but I think that's the style of Poirot's novels and if you're looking for deeper psychological stories you should look somewhere else. I was looking for something easy to read while waiting at a line in the bank and situations like that, and I wasn't disappointed. I recommend it.

Again, as I mentioned in one of my other reviews, I had a little trouble following the attribution to some characters in their conversations. Found myself having to go back a few paragraphs to find the proper attributions..

I have yet to be disappointed by Agatha Christie and would recommend this to anyone who has enjoyed her work. Most chapters keep the ball rolling and provide us with bits and pieces of information about the events that took place. Wide variety of characters prevents things from getting stale too quickly.

Who murdered Roger Ackroyd? What color were Ralph Paton's boots? Who left the silver table open?Who moved the chair? Who opened the window? Where did the piece of chambric come from? And...who is telling the truth???

First published in the UK in 1929 and features the "retired" Belgian detective, the famous Hercule Poirot. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd was renown for it's controversial ending twist, apparently unique for its time. You will need a scorecard to keep track of the characters, their alibis and potential motives but all in all it is another Top Ten Agatha Christie novel.

I will never get bored reading Agatha Christie, per se, and more so the murder in Orient Express. It is indeed a classic, from start to end, pure deduction by the famous Poirot. After all these decades, it is still a great novel to read and enjoy.

Murder on the Orient Express, one of Agatha Christie's mysteries featuring Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, is one of my very favorite of hers. If you have not seen the movie based on this book, sit back and be prepared to be surprised. If you have seen the movie but not read the book, I recommend you do so. It's even better than the film! Murder on the Orient Express showcases some of Christie's best writing, plot, and characters.

Treat yourself!

Unfortunately, I didn’t read the book consistently over a few days. So, I often lost the thread. So many characters. Anyway, an entertaining read. I hadn’t read any Agatha Christie before, though I’ve seen most if not all of the PBS Poirot episodes

A delightful read as famous detective, Hercule Poirot, solves a mystery on a train, The Orient Express. Each character comes alive with Poirot's interviews and although the clues are right in front of you, only Poirot can put them all together. A classic by Agatha Christie

This product was printed when I ordered it and shipped quickly. However, the font was tiny (~8 point) and the margins huge, making for a visually difficult read. There were also wordssmashedtogether in unpredictableways, also making it difficult to read. No page numbers was annoying, since I like to check back in with previous clues when I'm reading a murder mystery like this one.

This is one of the best Agatha Christie’s books, so it’s a classic, and you should definitety read it. It’s difficult to talk about it without giving any undesirable spoiler. What I could say it’s that the victim is a very despicable person, and many would have reasons to kill him. Besides, after the murder, the train is caught in a blizzard, so it remains stopped during many hours. Due to this fact, Poirot doesn’t have any means to investigate the veracity of the information that the passangers tell him, so he has to trust only on his own instincts to discover the truth.
