I really thought a book was included with this purchase, but it's not. Since that is the case, I believe this is overpriced! I bought this so my 1st grader could read along...and it could help with her reading skills, but I guess not. My bad.

Junie B. is heading to Hawaii on vacation, and she's keeping a photo journal to bring back to her first grade class.

This started out a bit oddly, with the author adding dialogue for Junie B.'s toys, which is a gimmick I hadn't run into previously in this series.

The story got better once the family arrived in Hawaii, and I liked the fact that in spite of her mishaps, Junie B. really does have a lot of fun on her trip.

There were some genuinely laugh-out-loud jokes in here for me and for the Kiddo. He appreciated the setting, having read several other book that took place in Hawaii.

My granddaughter has just finished kindergarten and has really gotten into reading chapter books. After much research and careful consideration, I picked her a Junie B. Jones book - even though I know that Junie often uses incorrect grammar and is not on her best behavior. In other words, she acts like a real kid. It was a great choice. It has wonderful teaching moments in it- which my daughter does when she lets my granddaughter to to her. My granddaughter LOVES Junie B. and has literally devoured these books - checking others out from the library. I highly recommend them for girls just beginning chapter books.

Junie B. Jones is an irrespressible young girl (around seven years old?) who sees the world in her own special way. Continually getting in trouble and constantly feeling awkward, Junie forges ahead and takes her chances, facing life with a heart-winning combination of clumsiness and bravado. Here, Junie and her family go to Hawaii for a week, with predictably chaotic results.

The actual time spent in Hawaii is kind of brief -- the first half of the book is taken up with Junie's classroom hijinks before the vacation begins... But it's her entertaining, malaprop-laced internal monologue that matters most, not the actual plot. It's hard not to identify with and root for this little gal -- fans of Ramona The Pest and Harriet The Spy will a kindred spirit here with the bold, goofy Junie B.

Recommended! You'll want to read all her other books as well.

For fans of America's funniest first grader-this book is a must read! My kids and I have been reading Junie B. for a few years now, and we eagerly await each new release. Aloha Ha-Ha does not disappoint. The best parts, as always, involve conversations with Junie B.'s elephant, Philip Johnny Bob, and a brand new Hawaiian Barbie that Junie B. names Delores. The captions on her "photo journal" for Mr. Scary cracked my kids up. My 7 year old daughter and her friends just started a summer book club, and this was their first selection. READ IT NOW and LAUGH YOUR HEAD OFF!

Have you read Junie B Jones? I just purchased the box set and began reading them to my kindergartener. I was horrified from the beginning at the very attitude and rude, ignorant spirit of Junie B Jones. She hates her name, the bus, the people on it, the teacher and her new school. What a negative thing to meet someone on the bus and instantly HATE them. Is this the kind of human interactions that we should be teaching our children? She yells, throws fits and generally has attitude about everything. The grammer is written from a 6 year old's perspective, which does nothing to educate our children about the way things should be phrased. This is not the picture of kindergarten, nor the worldview that I would suggest to my children or anyone else's for that matter. After 4 chapters, the entire series is in the trash as a waste of money. Think twice about what you are reading to your impressionable young children (or letting them read for themselves!)

My daughter is in grade 3 and she absolutely loves this series! She laughs as she reads the books over and over. It doesn't take her long to finish the book either, but because of this book series she spends a lot more time reading which makes this mama very happy!

Junie B., First Grader: Aloha-ha-ha hits home again with the 26th book of the chapter book series. In this book, Junie B. continues with her bit of awkwardness and sassy ways as she heads to Hawaii with her mom, dad, and friends. Junie B's teacher, Mr. Scary gives Junie B. a camera with an assignment to make an official photo journal while she is in Hawaii. Junie B. wants to make her pictures look exciting so she can bring them back to school for show-and-tell, but finds herself looking stupid. How will her photo journal end up? Can Junie B. have a turn of luck?

I read this book to my little sister and we both laughed all the way through. Although some may find Junie B's antics bratty, we give it two thumbs up for the excitement and comedy all the way to the end.

For whatever reason, this book and all of the Junie B. Books cannot be used with the Kindle Text to Speech function. the store should advise customers of this - as I would not have purchased these books.
