Well defined characters with a great storyline. This is the first book that I read from a male author and I give Eddie great kudos! This book kept me hooked from the very beginning to the very end. Like I said this is the first book that I read from Eddie Cleveland, however, it will definitely not be the last! I will absolutely add Eddie to my must read author's list!

Great story about second chances and the results of being a wounded Veteran. The results of war and the damage it does outside and inside the Veteran's body and the impact it has on family members as well. More stories about what war does to the human needs to be heard. Thanks Eddie it was awesome , this is my first book from this author and it will definitely not be my last. Thanks BONBON

Decent story. Characters were pretty good, and the story was good. I would have liked to see more of his actual recovery process, both physical and mental. Glossed over much too quickly. It was also completely left out about if they did, or didn't tell the boy about his father and his reaction. Could not believe it wasn't mentioned again. While it wasn't a bad book it certainly needs work.

I loved reading Lauren and Mack's story. He left her with a broken heart and a child that he had no clue existed until an injury forced him back into her area and her life. Watching the chemistry rebuild between these two was a story that I loved to read, especially when Mack stepped up to help Lauren with their out of control child.

A Military Second Chance Romance
American Bad Boy is the debut novel by Eddie Cleveland. It follows Mack and Lauren on their journey from teenage lovers to reconnecting after Mack returns from war and being apart for ten years.
The story is an easy read. Interesting in that it deals with Mack’s PTSD and the demons he carries with him from war. I enjoyed how the author shows the trials and tribulations that veterans go through, how they deal and how they try to cope.
I found it refreshing to read a military romance from a former military man. Just made me stop and think about what he was writing and he’s experiences while at war.
It’s a good debut from Eddie Cleveland, but I felt that some improvements could be made.
For example, even though I enjoyed the foundation of this story, there were a few things that confused me. I didn’t see it as an inter-racial story at all. The only indication was very lightly skimmed within the story and other than a reference here or there about caramel colored skin and another when Lauren entered the police station and her thoughts were of how she would be perceived as “just another black woman picking up her son,” it kind of threw me off a little. I didn’t get that impression from the story that he was white and she was black until that moment in the police station, and then it wasn’t really referred to again in any detail.
I thought the character development was good but could improve a little with more back story on how they shaped their lives in the ten years they were apart. I just thought there were a few things missing in the story plot to connect the circumstances to where they were ten years later when they reconnect.
And once they do reconnect I felt it was almost too easy. I would have like to see more angst and tension between Mack and Lauren while they were reconnecting. I felt Lauren gave in to Mack almost too easily.
Apart from a few issues for me as a reader, I thought the overall story a good debut by Eddie Cleveland. I will definitely be looking forward to more from this author.

Not only does this book have a phenomenal cover, it is an amazing story. We take Veterans for granted and they do not get everything that they deserve to receive for fighting and protecting our freedom. PTSD and Veterans suicide is real. This is about heroism, love and finally asking for the help that is so needed but very hard to accept and overcome.

I just finished reading American Bad Boy and couldn't put it down until I finished it. My heart went out to Mack and Lauren. It is true what they people say about "soul-felt love", it transcends time and space to bring lovers back to where they belong in each others arms.

I really enjoyed this book! I was glad when Mack came to acknowledge he had PTSD before his dreams took him to a place of no return. Lauren standing by him helped also. Chris really needed him too. He and Lauren deserved their happy ending with their little family. I hope we get a story about Chelsea and Cameron! Hope to see more from this new author.

What an awesome story of life, love, disaster, heartache and fighting for recovery. This is a wonderful story of our Vet's their horrific events of war and the remnants that remained (PTSD) with them and their families.
An amazing first book by Author Eddie Cleveland that I would recommend to anyone age 18+, due to the language and sexual content.

I really liked this story. It touches on a touchy subject of PTSD that I don't know much about. But the story itself caused so many different feelings. It had me smiling, had my cheeks flushed, my heart blooming and quite a few tears to be honest. But that was expected.
I really enjoyed the story and I was so pleased that it ended in a HEA.

What was Mack thinking? He broke her heart and only seemed to be thinking of himself. She moves on and has a secret. Just seeing him again is hard for her. Should she guard her heart or give into a second chance at love? Her son just tugs at your heart. You will have to read it to find out.

What a wonderful story with just the right amount of heat. There were a lot of topics covered in one book, could have been just a good with maybe one or two less main topics. The military theme was strong and told from different perspective. For a debut novel Eddie Cleveland knocked my socks off. Can't wait to read his next book! ?

Mack and Lauren were high school sweethearts. Their dream of a future torn apart when Mack joined the military. Now years later he is back. Can anything happen between them after everything that has happened? I enjoyed this second chance book of courage, forgiveness and forever love.

I never realized the extinct that PTSD has on our vets. It not only affects the vet but radiates out to the people closest to them which Eddie weaves a complete story of realization, denial, acceptance of help and finally healing. I can see another story of Chelsea and Cameron brewing. I can't wait to read that one.

What happens when you leave your first love behind to pursue your dreams at West Point? What happens when you return a war hero with a few missing parts? Can Lauren and Mack reunite and rekindle? Can Mack figure out that PTSD isn't the end all be all? Asking for help is OK and doesn't make you weak!

I thought Mack was very swoon-worthy!! He was definitely a man! I love reading male romance authors, the misunderstandings are never drawn out, men are so much more to the point! With that, the book had a lot crammed in, but Eddie did great getting it all in there. Was a great book!

Wow! Kudos on your first book. This was a fantastic read! It took me through every emotion I could feel. Lauren and Mack's I'm afraid isn't far from the truth for many people young and in love. When someone leaves for the military everything changes and quite possibly will be forever changed!

Eddie Cleveland writes a great story about young love, life challenges, growing apart, reuniting and dealing with more challenges which includes PTSD, parenting, and finding love again. His first book is great and I am anxious for the next one to come out.

I really enjoyed this book!!!!!!! Mr. Cleveland did an excellent job of bringing to light the plight of our veterans once they are home. Excellent work on your debut novel. The story line was well written and the characters were well developed. I was hesitant at first, but decided to take a chance. I am glad that I did.

This story is so revealing as to what the struggles are from a veteran! I fell in love, I wanted to fight, I wanted to cry, I fell back in love, and boy talk about Nerve-wracking because it was like a roller coaster ride! So good that I don't want the story to be over!

Really good book. There were many laugh out loud moments mixed in the story. I would have liked for the author to have included a chapter with the parents explaining the situation to the child at the end.

Eddie Cleveland did a great job writing this book. The novel was well written and entertaining. This book was written where it gives you total knowledge about where the romance started and where it ended and all the in between stuff too. This novel shows you the true outcome for some of our vets after their tour of duty. It shows how PTSD is a battle within the person and how they need help in order to cope and heal. It shows coping mechanisms for dealing with death and how death can have an effect on people. It also shows how true love should be given second chances. This was a book that had me feeling so much that I needed a tissue. The author did a great job with the characters as well. He gave them all these personalities that made you understand them in a more personable way. You could truly feel, to a degree, what they were experiencing at a particular moment. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future. If you are a fan of romance and military men, then this is a must read. I received an arc in exchange for a honest review.
