The story moves right along keeping your attention. There is a good mix of romance and back story. Pretty typical Nora Roberts. Not one of her best but far from her worst! Recommended audience would would be women looking for a romance with more depth and story line than the typical Harlequin Romance.

Murder, love, family all intertwined to bring this romance to life. Twists and turns as crooked as the paths in Livie's beloved forest will keep you guessing and cheering for love to win. Another well done story by Nora Roberts.

First Nora Roberts book for me. The kind of book I like to read while walking on the treadmill. Keeps your interest without needing to much concentration. I did figure out who the villain was about halfway through the book but that's just me.

Nora Roberts shines in this novel. The characters are memorable, and the interaction between them is the human experience. Great plot keeps you reading to the end. Starts off with lives being changed drastically by a tragedy then moves forward to pull the reader into the hearts touched with conflict--and love. A great late night read or any time you want to pick up a book.

Wonderful book!! It has enough twists to catch you off guard and enjoy the ride. It starts off slow and drags on, but once you get past it, you appreciate every detail that was given to give the characters dimensions.

Nora Roberts older books (Divine Evil, Genuine Lies, etc.)were excellent in all respects. Now it seems her books have become incredibly formulaic, and even boring at times. The incessant description of the forest in River's End began to really become monotonous, and the heroine was a cold fish who was very unlikable. And the ending - I won't give it away - but let's just say horrible things have happened to many people's lives at the end, but the overall attitude is that since the main characters are in love, who cares about anyone else?
What happened to you, Nora? I miss your old style of writing!

Just one drawn out narrative of the murder story over years. No action until the very end. I don't understand how this book got so many high ratings or why NR chose this writing style for River's End. I'm a big fan and this has to be one of the biggest disappointments. Sorry to see it scared away one of the reviewers from ever reading a NR book again.

As always Nora Roberts excels at character development but this time it seemed to drag along at several places with too much of the "Olivia and Noah show" with the same dialog over and over. We get it Olivia, you are strong and independent and don't trust anyone but family. I would have liked more suspense and less of Noah continually trying to convince Olivia to trust him.

I was drawn in immediately! Again an ending you are not expecting. I wish I had the talents of my favorite authors, whose list is growing since my retirement and my disability keeps my face in a good book.

Great buildup, though there are constant steps in the timeline, most characters are well thought out. Moving lovestory; as Nora always does. Only the ending is quite abrupt and could have used a bit more weight, in my opinion.

As usual Nora Roberts delivers a nice paced novel with well developed characters that become friends, at least some of them. The locale is special because I am familiar with it and adds to the enjoyment.
