The story begins when Olivia Gordon discovers Marcus Danby, dead in a ravine. His death was made to look like an accident, but Olivia is certain Marcus was murdered. Marcus comes back as a ghost and talks to Olivia and asks her to help him. He tells her he was murdered.

Marcus Danby founded the horse Farm, a therapy center, that was located near Nashville. The Horse Farm had been Marcus's passion and his life. His door was opened to any abandoned creature. Marcus brought in clients - patients to work with horses - or dogs sometimes. The Horse Farm was extremely well respected. And now, Olivia and the rest of the employees, at the Horse Farm, had to move forward with the work Marcus had deemed so important.

Olivia worked at the Horse Farm as a therapist. She did impressive work with the horses, but what she managed with people was equally beautiful. She was loved and respected by everyone. Olivia had the ability to see ghosts and talk to them. She was told she was like a ghost magnet and some called it a gift, but some called it a curse. She shared this ability with her cousin, Malachi, who was in charge of the Krewe, an FBI Unit of Paranormals.

Special Agent Dustin Blake, my favorite character, was quite charming. Dustin comes to Nashville, at the request of Malachi, to investigate the death of Marcus. He also shares the gift of seeing ghosts. There is a strong chemistry between Olivia and Dustin and a romance slowly develops and an investigation that leads in many directions. And the plot thickens!

This book includes mystery, paranormal, and romance. The author had such a creative way of weaving together this multi layered story. I found myself engaged in the storyline early on. I did not anticipate the ending and I must say, I was a bit disappointed, not finding it to be plausible. Also, there were many secondary characters and I found myself confused at times.

The author really elaborates on the paranormal encounters, going into much depth - very interesting! I also liked the bit of Civil War history interjected through the ghost encounters. Yes, I would recommend this book, especially to those of you who are into paranormal - you'll love it. My rating is 4 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for providing me with a complementary copy of this book to review. All opinions shared are my own.

I like the Krewe series. They are filled with mystery with touch of the supernatural. There are love scenes that I skipped over.
In The Night is Forever their are ghosts all over in the story that so enrich the story. Marcus died of a drug overdose. Everyone believes after 30 years clean he relasps except Olivia. Olivia found Marcus's body and his ghost that said he did not go back to drugs, He was murdered and he needs her help.

Olivia faints I would to, bad enough to find a dead body without its ghost being there too. Olivia calls her cousin Malachi and his Krewe, an FBI unit of paranormal investigators, and tells him what Marcus said.

Dustin Blake is a FBI Agent. He wanted to join Krewes but there is no way to request it. Dustin is asked to go in undercover as a agent who is burned out. This will be his first assignment for the Krewe unit.

Their is lots of suspects, lots of ghosts, and lots of animals. I had no idea who or why was killing people at the horse farm.
I liked the ghosts that kept popping up, also liked the boys that were trying to get their lives back.
Dustin fits well in the Krewe unit with the others. It was a entertaining story.
I was given this ebook and asked to give honest review of it by Netgalley and Harlequin.

I received this book at no charge through the the store Vine program.

I am a fan of Ms. Graham (and her other pen names), and have been for many years. The setting for this book is a horse farm/therapy center set near Nashville, Tennessee.

Marcus Danby, an addict, founded the center where abandoned, neglected, and abused horses (and dogs) were taken to recover - this was his passion in life. He developed the center to also help humans needing specialized therapy. It served their emotional and physical needs by offering them the support they would need to heal.

Olivia Gordon works at the farm as a therapist with a twist - she has the ability to talk to the dead (as does her cousin who is with a paranormal division of the FBI). This helps when she discovers Marcus dead in a ravine. It was not an accident - she spoke with Marcus’ ghost.

The book follows the twists and turns of the mystery while trying to find out who killed Marcus. There is a lot of depth to the characters and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end.

I recommend this book (especially to those who live in Tennessee - familiar places are fun to visit through an author’s eyes!) to anyone wanting a great read.

Graham creates likable characters from the living to the non-living that you can easily connect with. Olivia is wonderful, from her optimism to her interactions with the staff and youth at the Horse Farm. Convinced of foul play she is determined to clear her mentor's good name. Dustin, who is former military and a decorated member of the FBI, has always been able to see the dead. When approached by the Krewe of Hunters, he is honored to be considered for this élite group. Olivia and Dustin clicked as a couple. The romance was slow to build and felt genuine. You could feel the chemistry between them, and as the relationship heated I became invested in them. Several ghosts aided in the case, from a civil war officer and his horse to the recently deceased and I loved these paranormal details. The suspect list was long, and the characters all had their own voice.

The murder mystery in The Night is Forever was a particularly good one. From mysterious accidents, included a closed room murder, I wasn't really sure who the suspect was until the end. Graham slowly reveals clues, often misleading us as we begin to form a suspect list. I enjoy how she ties it all together and provides a solid theory. Olivia and Dustin were the perfect couple, as they worked off each other's strengths and slowly built a relationship. I enjoyed a lot of the side characters in this tale, from the troubled teens to the local waitress. The setting was wonderful, and I loved hearing about the civil war, Nashville's history and the ghostly officer. While this is the eleventh book in the Krewe of Hunters series, each book works as a standalone and offers a side dish of romance focusing on one couple. An ARC was provided in exchange for unbiased review and originally published at caffeinated book reviewer.

I used to really love Heather Graham's books. Then, I don't know what happened. Her books took off in a direction that I didn't like. Even though I am a fan of paranormal romance, I could not get absorbed into this story. I had to force myself to finish it to review it.

Olivia, the main female character works at a therapeutic horse farm. Murders start occurring on the property, which is bad for the therapy and bad for the horses (and human characters too). Enter the Krewe of Hunters, a special FBI unit that focuses on all things paranormal. With them, Dustin Blake, an investigator with a mysterious past. The murders continue, and the romance builds between the two main characters until the conclusion.

As I said before I could put this book down, rather easily; and do things that I do not look forward to such as housework and cleaning. Graham's books used to be different, more complex and less easy to figure out how they were going to end. The viking series that she did in the 1990s is still one of my favorite romance trilogies. The Civil War historical bits were interesting, but there was not enough character development in the book for me, it was too predictable and I did not really like the sex scene very much. Unfortunately her viking series is out of print, or I would recommend getting that series instead. There's nothing like a good viking.

This book takes place in present day Tennessee, but is filled with Civil War History and folk lore of the area. Blending the old with the new makes this book interesting and entertaining.

Olivia Gordon works at a horse farm that specializes in rehab therapy for people with physical and mental issues. Her specialty is in horses. She feels horses can teach you boundaries in just about every aspect of life. She loves her job...that is until people start dying for no reason. Olivia is not your normal therapist...she sees and speaks with ghosts. When the owner of the horse farm, Marcus Danby,is found dead of an overdose of heroin she calls her cousin who is a member of the Krewe Unit. Dustin Blake who is FBI and a member of Krewe is sent undercover since he grew up in the Nashville area and no one would suspect he is there to investigate a murder.

MS Graham weaves an interesting plot by mixing history, modern day and supernatural without it becoming a history lesson. There was just enough mystery and suspense to keep me turning the pages. I have read most of MS Graham's books and this in my opinion is one of her best. Every chance I get, I read her books because they are fun and entertaining.

If you are a fan of the Civil War, suspense and a little mix of the supernatural you won't be disappointed reading this book.

Disclosure: I was given a copy of this eBook by the publisher, Harlequin, through Net Galley blogger program for review. I was not required to write a favorable review nor was I compensated for my review. The opinions in this review are my own.

The Night is Forever by Heather Graham is another installment in the Krewe of Hunters series is another hit for Heather Graham.
Olivia Gordon works at the Horse Farm, a place people came for therapy whether they are addicts, folks suffering from stress or kids on the verge of being lost, given up on. It is another peaceful ride when Olivia comes upon the body of Marcus, the owner and founder of the Horse farm is down on the ground, dead, and off to the side she sees the General, or thinks she does, but the General is a ghost , a reminder of Tennessee’s part in the war of the states.
The autopsy says that Marcus died of an overdose, and most think it, all but Olivia. Olivia calls her cousin Malachi, a member of the FBI and of the Krewe. There is no way he died of an overdose, not after over 20 years of being cleaned.
Dustin shows up at the farm, an FBI with what many say are drop dead looks and suffering from stress, to many hard cases and suffering so rest and relaxation is the order of the day. Then another death, and what is the strange sound that was heard? A bee? Some kind of bug?
Who could be behind the deaths? A member of the staff? A Nashville Lawyer wanting a land grab? As the story unfolds it takes several twist.
This was a great read, whether you call it a romance, a murder mystery, or paranormal. I call it a very good read and one I would highly recommend. I look forward to hearing more of the Krewe and the history that keeps the past lingering even today

This was another very good mystery from Heather Graham but the only problem I have with the Krewe mysteries(and the others that deal with paranormal mysteries from this wonderful author) is that each one seems very formulaic. There's always been two involved in the murders & in each story, whether it's a Fed or a detective or PI that's the authority figure in the story, there's a woman that first isn't thrilled with him and then falls head over heels in love with him; whether that woman is another authority figure or a civilian it always happens and then the female gets trapped by the murderer(s) and the male authority figure has to save her. Like I said I love her mysteries and in this book the love of animals is very clear and I love that about her; she acknowledges their importance and treats even the 4 legged characters in the books with respect rather than as a "mutt" or "it", etc but I would love to see the formula change some for future mysteries to keep things a bit fresher and less predictable as to how things will unfold. For example, let's let a female character be the one who rescues the male character for a change; I'm a guy and even I think that's a tad sexist when it's happening in every story. I do love how she blends the historical aspects of the various locations; I'll be honest, I can't stand the Civil War history & even I get into it when reading mysteries she writes that deals with that particular era.

Olivia Gordon knows that the man who owns the horse farm where she works as a therapist did not die from an overdose of the drugs that he had been clean of for decades. She knows for a fact that he was murdered. He told her so. Yes, that’s right, Olivia, cousin of Malichi Gordon from The Night is Alive, can see and talk to dead people. When Marcus assures her that he was murdered, the only place she can turn for help is cousin Malachi and the FBI’s Krewe. Can she and agent Dustin Blake find Marcus’ murderer before he or she strikes again? When Olivia becomes the killer’s next target, the stakes suddenly get higher.

The only other book in this series that I’ve read is The Night is Alive, and for some reason, I really enjoyed that one more than this one. I guess I just didn’t click with Olivia, and it seemed that her relationship with Dustin progressed way too quickly. I also figured out “whodunit” pretty early on, and it seemed like it took forever (ha, ha) for Olivia and Dustin to figure it out.

Olivia Gordon is seeing ghosts: one of them is a Civil War general, Rufus Cunningham. The other is her employer, Marcus Danby, whose body is in front of her ... while his ghost is tapping her on the shoulder.

Thus begins "The Night is Forever."

Set on a fictional equine-assisted therapy facility in Tennessee, the mystery not only involves ghosts but ghost hunters ... one of them a a very handsome fellow called Dustin, who is falling for Olivia even as he tries to help her investigate Marcus' death. As more deaths occur around the Horse Farm, the plot thickens constantly.

Heather Graham is very good at romantic suspense, and throwing in an entertaining paranormal twist didn't hurt here. Graham draws on local color to set a historical background for her present-day events, and keeps readers guessing at the "whodunnit." (I was oh-so-wrong in my suspicions!)

Though this is the third of a series, it stands alone quite well. I found it entertaining and well-crafted, and would recommend it to fans of the genre.

First Thought when Finished: Gosh darn it! I am still in love with the Krewe! The Night is Forever was an excellent addition to this series!

Read It File It: Nashville, Civil War, Hot Agent, Smart and Caring Woman, Dead General just lending a hand = one intense but sexy Krewe of Hunters book. I really liked Liv and Dustin. They each had such unique skills (which is important in this world) and could feel their connection immediately. The case was strong and the "fringe" was well placed. As always Heather just pulled me and kept me on my toes till the very end.

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated By Luke Daniels / Length: 9 hrs and 28 mins

Luke is excellent in general but the Krewe is where I fell in love with his narration style. His accents, pacing, and general "air" are perfect for this series. Another great job!

Final Thoughts: You should check out the Krewe of Hunters!

Olivia, aka Liv: attractive, well liked, talented counselor at a group home that uses horses for therapy, all the young boys want her as their counselor

Dustin: new special agent for the FBI Krewe unit, hardly the type that could slip in and out unnoticed
Location: rolling country hills outside of Nashville that is steeped in civil war history

Connections: Olivia is a double cousin to Malachi of the FBI Krewe unit. Olivia and Dustin both see and communicate with ghosts. Both grew up in Nashville. Both are horse lovers.

Plot: A murder occurs on the group home horse farm. Dustin leads the effort to solve the murder. The ghosts are helpful in solving the mystery. The biggest question is, why. Why would anyone want to kill the victims at this well respected place that does so much good?

Underlying theme: boundaries and control

The mystery of who done it and why was intriguing and interesting more than the romance. It’s a good entertaining well paced read. This was my first Krewe book and it didn’t’ seem to matter that I haven’t read others.

Olivia Gordon can see dead people. So when her boss and good friend, Marcus Danby, is found dead at the bottom of a ravine he is able to communicate with Olivia and tell her that things are not as they seem. Determined to find out what really happened Olivia calls on her cousin and his paranormal investigating Krewe to help. Afraid to step on local toes they send in a newly assigned undercover agent. Dustin Blake becomes a client at the Horse Farm where Liv works and he finds himself really enjoying the animal therapy, the fresh Tennessee air, and the stunningly beautiful Miss Gordon. Things quickly become serious though when another member of the Horse Farm is almost killed and Dustin fears that Olivia may be next. To save the reputation of the farm and the reputation of Marcus, Olivia and Dustin must fight their mutual attraction and focus on finding a killer.

I love reading a good mystery with a little bit of romance on the side. This is the first book I have read from Heather Graham and now I am a fan. She does a great job with the story telling and the little bits of history mixed in throughout. I found the characters very likable and the mystery intriguing as well. Any great story makes you want to become a part of it and I definitely found myself wishing I could visit this horse farm and go camping in the woods. Or visit the little cemetery tucked away in the woods where Brigadier General Rufus Cunningham is buried. The author does a fantastic job making you love the setting just as much as the characters do and imagining yourself right there along with them. If you are wondering what book to read next look no further, you will enjoy The Night is Forever.

Heather Graham is the author of The Night is Forever. I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

This is my first Heather Graham book. Prior to it, I wasn’t sure if she wrote mystery/suspense or romance. Turns out, this book is both with the paranormal thrown in. What’s not to like? This is fun stuff. I thought the mystery was pretty top notch, and I enjoyed the bits of Civil War era history. I am a sucker for romance, so I really enjoyed that aspect of the book as well. While I liked the book, I think I would probably have been better served starting at the beginning of this series rather than jumping in at the middle. I’m going to have to hunt down more of the books in this Krew of Hunters series.

I see other reviewers commenting on this series and evidently have prior knowledge of several of the charactrs in this story. I enjoyed this book when I read it, but now I'm wondering if I am missing out on something? Anyway, this story opens up with Olivia Gordon discovering the body of Marcus Danby. Olivia is certain Marcus was murdered, even though itinitially appears to be an accident. Marcus comes back as a ghost and tell Olivia that he was, in fact, murdered.

Enter the Krewe, an FBI Unit of Paranormals Investigators who are asked by Olivia to help untangle this mess. Sparks fly, people die, ghosts wander by......mix these all together and you have one pretty decent ghost story. I liked it a lot. I

The books in this series just keep getting better and better. Admittedly, I came into this series a little late as I've only read the last four, but I do have the other ones in my TBR pile. I love the mix of history and the paranormal that each book has and I feel as if I actually learn something while reading them. I didn't feel as if Dusting and Olivia had the chemistry that some of the previous couples had, but it wasn't as if there was no spark either. Each time I see a new book in this series I get a little excited cause I know that I'm in for a heck of a read. Can't wait to see where we go to next and recommend this book. Can be read as a stand alone, but as each book has couples from previous books it's best to read in order.

The Night Is Forever
Heather Graham
Mira, Sep 24 2013, $7.99
ISBN: 9780778315087

Marcus Danby established the Horse Farm near Nashville as a place to take care of deserted animals. Therapist Olivia Gordon finds Marcus' body in what looks like a horrible riding accident caused by a drug overdose though he had been clean for three decades.

Already wondering how a top rider who knew every inch of the area could have fallen and having doubts about his addiction relapse, Liv's concerns about her boss' death become a certainty when Marcus' ghost tells her he was murdered. She contacts her cousin Malachi Gordon (see The Night Is Alive), an FBI Krewe of Hunters agent who knows of her ability to communicate with ghosts. He informs Krewe unit Chief Jackson Crowe who assigns Dustin Blake on his first case to investigate the Horse Farm paranormal activity and the death. Dustin and Liv are attracted to each other from their first meeting and their feelings are strengthened by both sharing the paranormal skill of seeing ghosts especially with so many in the area. However, the killer plans to silence the only person claiming homicide.

Though similar in tone to the previous "Night" thrillers (see The Night Is Watching), this Krewe of Hunters paranormal romantic police procedural is an entertaining investigative entry enhanced by the ghosts from a nearby Civil War era massacre bringing alive the local history. Action-packed from the moment Marcus' spirit pleads with Liv, readers will relish visiting the haunts of the greater Nashville area.

This is an excellent book, well paced, well written, and well thought out. There are people who can see and hear ghosts. The FBI has a special unit of them that people go to to a relative's farm to investigate a murder. On the farm, they are helped by the ghost of a Civil War general, Rufus Cunningham, and his horse. There are plenty of plot twists and surprises, all of which are credible. The cover refers to this book as a romance, but if it is, I missed that part entirely. Ms Graham is a talented writer and my wife and I look forward to reading more of her books.

I really wanted to get into this story, but couldn't. Not sure if it is just editing, or the sheer number of words used to explain simple things. Conversations were unclear at times. The ghost story was fun, but I'll be honest, I didn't finish the book. The heroine who begs for help, then is nasty the moment help appears. The heroine who is portrayed as tough and worldly, but whines and faints. Ugh. I know Graham is a popular author, but not for me.

Heather Graham books are often a hit and miss type of books for me. They are either incredibly good or just on the bland forgettable side.

This is the first book I've read in the "Krew of Hunters" series, so while the premise of the storyline was interesting, the plot, characters and tension in this book didn't really keep my attention. I can't say that I want to reread this book or even try more books from this series.

A mix of Civil War history with ghosts, murder, psychics and mayhem. Heather Graham has a good sense of plot, but this is not her best work. Her characters don't grab me as they usually do, and I kept skipping pages of long, boring detail that didn't seem to take the story anywhere. Some things are a tad contrived, but if you like paranormal stories, this is for you.

I love the Krewe books. Each one can stand alone or give you a glimpse of ones before or ones to come. This one was a fast, fun read that kept me guessing right til the end. I liked the inventive way to attack the poor victims. Each character had depth and humor. Love the ghosts.

I used to love Heather Graham. But her books have been declining and they are all pretty much the same. The Krewe (and her other books) now arbitrarily find a way to get single and coupled adults with out kids hanging out in a summer camp like setting (plus danger that they refuse to escape).

The "love scenes" in this book are so trite, which makes them even more crude. Worst line: "Do you believe in heaven?" "Yes, every time I look at you." The heroine and hero are seriously lacking. As best the story tells us, the hero instantly falls in love only because the heroine is beautiful and nice. Nevermind that she's exceptionally dull and naïve. The hero is equally dull, though not as naïve. Mama Cheaver is the only slightly developed character, and she's a b****.

The ghosts are so hokey and the plot holes are a mile wide.
