Grin and Beard It (Winston Brothers Book 2)

Oh, the feels! I love Penny Reid, and this story is perfection. Penny strings together individual situations that could actually happen into a fantastic story of love and redemption and acceptance. Each character is distinct, with their own quirks and flaws. There is no stereotypical hero and heroine, and the supporting characters (at least the on-going ones) are unique in their motivations and personalities.

This story, while part of a series, has no true cliffhangers and is HEA. I strongly recommend!

This was a really good read. I appreciated the confidence of the characters. They didn't fall for the usual "plot conflicts" that have become cliches when a famous person falls in love with a regular person.

And all the characters (Winston brothers and all the other townspeople) get a chance to be multi-dimensional characters. This story felt like it was honest for Jethro & Sienna -- not following a formula from the first book. I look forward to Cletus' story, and the other brothers as well.

Such good stuff here. Loving this series and this second book didn't disappoint. I'll say as a Latina, I truly appreciated not only that this book had a realistic Latina main character, but I truly felt she valued creating a woman with depth, complexity and cultural pride. In her acknowledgements, Penny Reid describes the steps she went through to ensure her character was not a caricature or stereotype. Loved the story line and the continued antics of the Winston brothers. I'm a One-Click customer of Penny Reid's.

Penny, Please stop! I thought your last Winston brother was my favorite, but now I realize that Jethro is my favorite. After reading Grin And Beard It, I knew that Jethro was a perfect book boyfriend. He's tall, ruggedly handsome, and a terrific flirt. Once again, you have come up with a great heroine: Sienna is so wonderfully awkward. You give all non-cool, nerdy girls hope for romance! I can't wait for your story about Cletus, I love how odd he is, and I'm sure his love interest will be a doozy.

Wow! I came across this book after reading Duane and Jess' story but it wasn't the right time for me to read it until now. And it's my favorite Winston story. Ever. I've read them all. And hands down. Jethro is the man I'd love if I had to choose and Sienna is so funny and they fit more than anything. The writing is witty and I loved it. It's a fabulous love story without too much drama. Highly recommend!

I loved it. Will continue to reread it forever. Jethro and Sienna are awesome together. Jethro is just as swoon worthy as Drew.

They are so different in their backgrounds but somehow it works and they make it work. She's funny and sweet and he's easy going and confident. Cletus is the best brother ever. I can't wait for Billy's story. I feel like it will be intensely good because he is so intense himself.

I want the next book now but I know I will have to be patient.

Once again, another winner from Penny Reid. I loved the humor. I love the heart. The banter was on point, and Sienna and Jethro are just so good at the flirting! The peak into the other Winston brothers throughout the book makes me even more excited - and Cletus is up next!

Penny Reid is an auto-buy, read-it-at-midnight-when-delivered-to-my-kindle kind of author, and Grin and Beard It has only strengthened my love for her writing!

Unlike some reviewers I found this one much better than the first one. It was funny and at times LOL with tears funny. I like that this author doesn't throw out the usual obstacles that is common to this genre. My favorite brother is really Cletus and am looking forward to his story. I Also like that when the author does put forth the 'obstacle' that the character doesn't fall for the lie but tends to put their belief in their 'person'.

For full impact, "Beauty and the Mustache " and "Truth and Beard" should be read before this book. If you haven't read them, you won't regret it. I promise.
Now Grin and Beard It ... It made me laugh like crazy and made me cry and made me miss my family very much. I love all the characters but Cletus steals the book in my opinion. I love his quirkiness and intelligence and awesome sense of humour. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I love Penny Reid's books (usually) and this book was what I love most about her books; funny, light hearted without being shallow, and sweet.

While this book is part of a series (that you should read NOW) you can read this book as a stand alone without getting lost. I actually dare you to read just this book and not immediately go read Beauty and the Mustache and Truth or Beard after you are finished.

I love the Winston Brothers! Just finished book 2, can't wait to start book 3! All the Winston boys are loveable & hot. Their lives and those around them are described with just enough detail that "you get the picture". No fluff or filler. Often I skip sentences and paragraphs in books when authors become too wordy. These books, I read every word. Thanks for the laughs Penny Reid!

Another home run for Penny Reid! This author continues to prove why she's one of my favorites! This series is amazing. The brothers are all magnetic and Jethro can charm the pants off of any woman. His complementary charm is... Charming and irresistible. Sienna is amaze-balls. She's a great female lead and I loved her spunk and humor. Several LOL moments that had me snorting and giggling. Can't wait for Cletus' story!!!!!

Cleverly done with lovable characters from page one. The banter is funny and smart as in all her books. I luckily stumbled upon Penny Reid and have never looked back but in fact tell everyone to read her. I didn't even know Jethro's book was released until 2 days ago and I couldn't put it down. Now I have to wait for Cletus that little odd ball. But as always, it will be worth the wait. Thank you Penny Reid!

Penny never disappoints. The Winston brothers are so lovable I don't know who stole the show more, Jethro or Cletus. Jethro is an onion and I enjoyed every layer we got to see from him. Sienna is fantastic. I loved her her sense of humor and how she was comfortable in her own skin. These two together are something special. I love the Winston family and I can't wait to read more in their series! We need more Cletus!!!

I loves Penny Reid''s ears series of books. They are funny, touching, and real. I love how they are written from both points of view (his and hers) and and how each charachter has such a distinct voice. She's my new favorite author.

This was another great story! I love the Winston brothers! The most refreshing thing about Penny Reid's stories, is that they are not the same recycled plot with different characters, these characters are well developed, and the story is well thought out. Sierra and Jethro's story is sweet, at the end of the day I wouldn't call it my absolute favorite, that spot is reserved for Cletus! But it is a great romantic story, and so easy to fall in love with these character's. I also appreciate the subtle way Sienna's ethnicity was portrayed in this book, so many authors go over the top when they write a character different from their own ethnicity, yes, Sienna is Latina, but it's almost an afterthought, because the main focus is on her as a person, not on the fact she has a different ethnic background.

Penny does it again. Damn you, Winston brothers. I almost didn't buy this book bc the heroine was touted as plus sized and hate me if you like, but that is somewhat of a deterrent for me bc authors tend to remind you every paragraph that the heroine is a bigger girl, curvy, full sized etc. It tends to be distracting. But Reid hardly mentioned it. In fact, what I loved about the heroine is her complete confidence and self assurance that she was in fact a sexy woman. It was never an issue with her or Jethro that she was plus sized. He only saw gorgeous! This was all in addition to the fact that the writing was again, exceptional, the characters, well thought out and real, and the dialogue was on point. You want to know these people, be their friends, etc. and the slow build to Sienna and Jethro's love story, hmmmmm, yummy. And hot.

Then there was Cletus. And the other brothers...ahhhh I can't wait for their stories. Thanks again, Penny Reid. Well done, you!

Disappointing compared to Reid's previous novels. Both Jethro and Sienna were boring and there was very little conflict to make the story interesting. The best parts involved Cletus and Billy, so I'll probably come back to the series for those novels and hope this is just an aberration. 2.5 stars

Every word this woman writes is fantastic.
I have read every book and they are are wonderful.

You will fall in love with her writing, the characters, the relationships, everything. You will read and not want it to end.

Jethro and Sienna are another one of her fantasticly strong couples. Love them!

Hollywood starlet that the hero doesn't recognize? Check. A starlet that's more Melissa McCarthy than Jenny McCarthy? Check. A cast of side characters that have depth, humor and wit? Check. These Winstons <3 <3—they are a real family with not-always-rosy sibling dynamics, witty, charm and lots of love. Jethro and Sienna are a delicious slow burn and the payoff is well worth it.

I've enjoyed reading the Knitting in the City series, but I absolutely love the Beard series. The fact that it takes place in my most favorite location on earth has a lot to do with it. However, all of the author's stories are so well written you'll find yourself giggling at the characters antics and also crying at their tender moments. I highly recommend both series, and look forward to the next books.

I love the Winston Brothers!!! Duane stole my heart in the first book, but Jethro is not far behind!

I love this story and the diversity of characters that Penny created! You get the good down home TN boys and the small town feel! But the new hot, curvy Latina love interest makes the book real and relatable!

I can't wait to read Beard Science and Cletus' story!!

Great continuation of Truth or Beard. The Winston family pulls you in. I love how the characters are built up so you can hate one and love the others. Great pace in writing. (I'm not a fan of long introspective pages and prefer things to happen). Buy it, read it, recommend it, then read some more of Penny's books because you won't be disappointed.

I switched between audiobook and ebook. I have loved Ms. Reid's work from the very beginning and my love for her books continues to grow. Grin and Beard It as I expected kept me highly entertained and engaged by the characters from page 1, I didn't even make it past the first few pages before I was busting up laughing.

Seriously, Penny Reid, I could just live in your books. I have to just cancel any plans when a new one is released and tuck in to read.
So, Grin & Beard It. Fantastic. Jethro.... what a sweet gentleman. The writing is very smart and sweet and funny. I ALWAYS recommend anything P Reid to people looking for a new author to read.

I finished it... but just barely.
I loved the first in this series and was really looking forward to this one... I just about stopped 2 weeks ago... yes it took me weeks to read it... I just could not get into it.... it was just boring!!!

Step right up and get another awesome and great read from Ms. Reid! I love this series and all the others from this author. Jethro has stolen my heart away from Duane but I'm sure all the remaining brothers will do the same.
In a book slump..... look no further than the talented Penny Reid, she will forever stay on my 1click list!

Loved the development of this story. Kudos to Ms. Reid for taking on the challenge of creating a character of color and not whitewashing her. Jethro and Sienna are great together.
I couldn't put it down once I started reading. Definitely recommend this book.

Jethro Winston meets the love of his life, not knowing she is really an A-list actor. Sienna doesn't tell him right away as she loves the fact that she is with someone who just sees her for herself. What a great read!

Fuckingly amazing!!! I highlighted so many funny moments in this book, in the end there were more yellow text than not! I love these brothers so much. A story centered around big families is a huge draw for me! So far this series is 5* and I wish I could give more. Quirky, witty, sexy and funny!! I can't wait for the next book!!!

The Winston brothers are back! Better than ever, we get to see more of the brothers communicating with each other, so it has a great sense of famiily! This is a sweet story with two imperfect characters that come together to prove that great love stories still exist. Sienna is a funny and fabulous character that I am glad she is now a part of the Winston clan! I highly recommend this book!!

Penny Reid's 'Beard' series is great. Each story centers around one of the Winston brothers. This one involves Jethro and the famous, Oscar winning comic actress Sienna. This beautifully written book is one that you want to add to your permanent shelf, along with the rest of Miss Reid's books.

Sienna and Jethro (yes, that's his name and it's awesome) have an endearing courtship that feels real and true all the way through. Although, I do wish yucky Tom guy had been chased by at least one rabid raccoon. Note to Penny: we need to address the raccoon quota per book.?

I love everything Ms Reid writes, she's always so fresh and new and thorough. She just amazes me with her ability to know human nature and perspectives and feelings. Jethro and Sienna are two more of the lovely, lovable and believable characters she has regaled us her fans with. Enjoy!

This book rocks!!! I absolutely loved it and I am sure you will love it too. I have loved every book from Penny Reid so far. The only thing I am disappointed about is that I have to wait so long to read the next book in the series, Beard Science. You will not be disappointed in reading this book.

Penny is probably, The funniest author I have read. I read this book in a day cause I couldn't put it down and laughed throughout the entire thing! But Cletus' #4 rule topped the cake. Hope everyone enjoys this as much as I did.
