Enjoyed the very descriptive writing style. Found myself trying to envision each character. Disappointed in the number of errors in the text. Words omitted and incorrect tenses used. Surely caused by the method used for proofreading.

This was slightly different but no less enticing. I had read some of the original stories in this series but got side tracked over the years. It feels good to go back and read the rest of the series.

I love anything by Mary Balogh. I especially liked how the hero Hugo Emes, Lord Trentham got in touch with his feelings and reserve by the end of the novel. Also liked the overall theme of "people are people no matter what their class".

Another great book. Finally one deserving of love throughout so many previous love stories has met her match. Lady Muir gets hit hard by Cupid' s arrow and solves an age old question for the characters and the reader while learning that love comes in many forms and is there when we are ready to open our heart.

I loved it. Once again the characters are wonderfull. Mary Balogh characters seem like real people. They are flawed and somewhat scarred but help each other rediscover happiness. Her plot needs no evil villains, farces, awkward misunderstandings, cavemen alpha's or naive virgin widows. The story is compelling and you find yourself cheering them on. I can't wait to read about all the new secondary characters that are introduced in this book. So Mary, please write faster.

An enjoyable exploration of one of the minor characters that Balough has been using for a long time--from a Summer to Remember through some of the Slightly and Simply novels. Balough seems to me the best of the Regency writers, closest to the skills of Georgette Heyer who, I think, invented the genre.

I always buy any Mary Balogh book because her writing is so good and her cast of characters is brilliant. One usually loves the hero and heroine and I admire her ability to speak with thier two voices.

Very entrancing book. It pulled me in right from the start. I identified with the characters. I love the background historical information on battles and the resulting long lasting results of war. The love story was well developed and the ending was very satisfying.

I enjoy all Mary Balogh's books. The characters in The Proposal are interesting and engaging. The characters are well developed. Those who read historical romance will like this book. Also, those who have an interest in the times of the Napoleonic Wars would enjoy it.
