Well-researched book about the The Green River Killer, Gary Ridgeway. While this book certainly pays tribute to the many young women whose lives were senselessly snuffed out without a second thought by this "killing machine" - Ann Rule is not a particularly gifted writer, in my opinion.

The book was very detailed though and it is obvious how much time and energy she put into researching the life of such a chilling murderer who so clearly had no remorse for all of the lives he ended.

In the end, just so sad - so sad that 16 year old girls who never had a chance to learn from their mistakes were murdered to give pleasure to one sick, little pathetic man.

I cannot imagine the years and years of work that went into this one, all the information is unbelieveable. She tells something of each of the victims, their families and friends. And exposes this meek looking man into the horrible killer he is. She must have had one heck of a filing system all these years to have all this information and complile it into this most informative work.

A great job by the very best crime writer of our time.

I loved hearing the family stories, because most of the ladies had a loving family, who must have gone through hell waitng. I remember hearing the GRK stories on TV, even though I am in Canada. I just love Ann Rules books, and I have all of her hard cover books. I also watched the TV movie, about the GRK. Thank you

Maybe because I have read about Gary Ridgway before, but I wasn't too crazy about this book. I lost interest after about 20 victims. It seemed repetitious and sometimes going off topic. I enjoy reading true crime novels, but this one didn't interest me a whole lot.

not enough details about the killers methods and motives. What did he say to the women to get them to trust him and get in his vehicle?
What did he ask them to do? Did he threaten them immediately or did he wait until after sex, in other words did they have sex under duress or threat or was it just a business transaction at that point, and then he snapped.
I learned a lot about the victims Mothers and Fathers and sisters and brothers and family pets etc...so much so that i had to start skipping pages to find something interesting.

Book about Gary Ridgway, the most prolific serial killer in the USA. It's so sad that he began his murderous "career" in 1982 and was a suspect since 1983 yet the police were unable to make a case until 2001. I'm glad that Ann Rule focused on the victims, they were all young women who made bad decisions to work as prostitutes but still wonderful people who were murdered by a woman hating coward who took out his anger on the young teenage girls he lured into his car or home. The majority of Ridgway's victims were 14 to 19 year old girls. He's been convicted of 49 murders, suspected of 80 +

This book is written more about the victims than the killer, I feel like this was Ann Rule's way of assuaging her guilt about capitalizing on murder. Each victim has basically a personal profile in the book, and I felt like I was reading more about them than the killer himself. I guess if you want to learn about the murder through his victims this would be the book for you.
