I loved this book!! The characters were so good that you couldn't help but holding your breath at some of the most dangerous times hoping that yours would not die. Great read and an interesting look back on how our soldiers were trained during ww2.

Battle Cry is my absolute favorite book of all time and having it on Kindle was a dream come true.

My biggest problem with it is in the conversion process, a number of the words did not properly get converted. These errors, while minor, are still noticeable and somewhat troubling.

This is a tough and true-to-life narrative taking a group of young men through their experiences from boot camp to battle. A character-driven story, I felt deeply for these people - the men, the families, the leaders who helped shape them into the people they are when war catches them up in its jaws and rends them.

Like Armageddon, Leon URIS has captured the essence and horror of war in Battle Cry. As I laughed and wept through this story, my heart was once again filled with pride for the fighting men who saved our Country.

The book will capture you from the beginning. Uris has the feeling of what it must have been like at the beginning of WWII. He follows one group of recruits from boot camp through some of the toughest battles in the Pacific. I almost felt like these Marines were part of my family. It is written in such a way that you feel their hurts and their pain.

Epic World War II story. Paints an accurate picture of the hearts and minds of that generation of marines. Well written, the pace is moderate. The writing style does make the story predictable after while.

Mr. Uris accurately and sympathetically portrays the experiences of an enlisted Marine in early 1943 forward. I was one. The old cadences and vocabulary were familiar and accurate. Sorry the story had to end. Bill Phillips, Greenwich, Connecticut.

This book is awell told story of soldiers' emotions going into and through battle. Families never understood or were able to help them when they returned home.
History tells us that it has only gotten worse with each conflict.
