This book delivers a salacious insight into the lives of many of our popular stars. It shows the human side of their lives that makes them no different from anyone else when it comes to finding ways of satisfying their carnal lusts and desires. Scotty merely sheds light on who people were outside of their celebrity.

It's interesting how scandalous tell-all books about famous people seem to pop up AFTER they're are dead (and in this case, after most of the people who even knew those people are also dead). This book boldly and without apology purports to spill the sexual beans about just about every big name in Hollywood. It's liberally peppered with deep philosophical insight and geographic and historical facts that read as if they came straight out of an encyclopedia; it's also full of sexual detail described in the purplest of street language. This book is definitely one to read on the john when you've nothing else to do, and though I cop to skimming through as one scans tabloid covers in the checkout line, I honestly don't for a second believe a tenth of its content.

This book came in pretty good condition,as stated by the seller. The only thing I was a little surprised about is some of the first pages had been cut out. They weren't crucial to the story, just publication information.

Captivating... spellbinding and absolutely fascinating.. To peak into that "Golden Age" of Hollywood was mesmerizing to say the least. There was nothing l found distasteful or even doubtful about this book. I am not of that era but l do enjoy watching old movies and wondering how these men and women lived.... Guess l just found out... Fascinating.. totally and scrumptiously FASCINATING!!!!

This book gets repetitive quickly. He name drops a lot which is the purpose of the book. The good parts of the book were the historical references but otherwise, I got bored with the sex-capades and I doubt I'll finish the book mainly because the writing isn't that good.

A bit repetitious at times and in general not very well written. But I do respect the author for his service in WWII. If the tales he tells are true, then I guess the book is very eye-opening. I was esp. surprised at the Hepburn/Tracy info.

I bought this at the recommendation of an old friend who is "mentoring" me through the mostly fun world of vintage films. He said that this book would give me a perspective on Old Hollywood. Yeah, if you want it to be a naked, sweaty, bodily-fluids one. Is it true? Who knows.

Okay, I admit it, I bought and read "Full Service" and now wish I hadn't! Fans of classic Hollywood beware! Whether or not Mr. Bowers is telling the truth, there are a lot of things in this book that should never have been printed because they really taint the image of these stars. I can only hope and pray there's not much truth here!
If you do read this book, it won't take you long to figure out that there most likely is a lot of fiction in this tell-all. I'm just not buying all he's selling here. From what I read, the truth seems to be that he was repeatedly sexually abused as a kid and that had a major impact on him throughout his life. It's a sad read in that respect, he focused most of his life on sex and celebrity and whether he admits it or not, I feel he's missed out on quite a bit. Mr. Bowers does admit guilt over not spending more time with his daughter.
I found his memories of The Great Depression and World War II highly interesting and enlightening. Those were tough days and he paints a vivid picture for his readers. And I will say it was nice to read about Hollywood's golden age. However, as I stated earlier, I wish I didn't read this book.

This book was a revealing "tell-all" by Scotty Bowers, who worked in a gas station in Hollywood during the "Golden Era". Mr. Bowers used his position as an employee at the station to set up movie stars with various "tricks" to their liking. The book was fun, and if true, very revealing. It did a good job of ruining the fantasy of heterosexual motion picture idols that women "oohed and awed" over" contributing to the huge financial success of the industry. Some of the revelations were pretty distasteful and it made one wonder if they were embellished upon by the elderly author. Why he chose to write this "tell all" at this time in his life is curious. He lived a very unconventional life style (especially for those years) and perhaps he has run out of money!

Just a little disappointed in the way the book is written. There are many situations that could have been described more readily "in the mind's eye" than so graphically in writing. If it's all true, it's a wonder anyone in Hollywood lived through all the STDs!

I bought the book because I had seen the interview on CBS' Sunday Morning, and while the stories of Old Hollywood life were quite entertaining, the parts of his childhood and his experience with sodomy and molestation at the hands of the adult men in his life left me feeling horrified. I realize that it didn't bother him to experience sex at the hands of family friends, priests, etc., but I hope that it doesn't give the pedophiles of today hope that their victims will look back fondly at the abuse.

I lived and worked in Hollywood during the last years of the old guard, before the new wunderkinds took over in the late 1960s. Scotty Bowers' portrait of the sexual foibles and tastes of the elite of Tinseltown is dead on. He knows of what he speaks and his details are proof of his accuracy. So many stars had hidden sex lives -- hidden to the general public but not to the industry itself. Mr. Bowers accurately details the open secret lives of many in Hollywood during its heyday. This is a book that preserves the inside truth on Hollywood's sexual secrets.

Not a well-written book. The author repeats himself throughout the book.In countless entries he tells us he prefers women over men...but the majority of his sexual liaisons were with men.I felt the man doth protested too much.
