This series is just something I enjoy reading. Fast paced and intriguing. Makes for good reading I think. If you haven't read any of the Dresden Files give them a shot. I did, thankfully. Thanks Jim for another great read.

Again Jim Butcher delivers!! Harry is back in the saddle and so are his friends Murphey, Thomas, Sasha, Lasco, Toot-toot, Mister, Mouse, Hendricks, Gentlemen Jim and many others.

This time the score is somewhat different then the last few books; the war with the Red Court has cooled down and just when Harry is starting to get a life of his own Queen Mab comes to collect on a favor that Harry owes her.

Overall-Don't let this bland description fool you I cannot say enough good things about this book. Those of you that don't read Jim Butcher are missing out and those of you that "don't get" Jim Butcher-I just feel sorry for

this is my all time best author ever. Jim butcher keeps the action going and he sticks to the story. I have been reading for a very long time and I can honestly say , this is the first author who kept me turning the pages until I had to quite to rest my eyes.

After reading all the other Dresdin books quite a while ago I wasn't sure if I'd be pulled back into the story, but I was. everything was recapped enough to jog my memory but not to bog the current plot down with back story. just like the other books in the series I was pulled in. I would intend to read a chapter before bed and find the clock reading 3am before I put the book down. good read.

The series gets stronger and stronger, as the character develops and his powers grow! A very enjoyable fantasy read, that doesn't take itself too seriously. The writing style is great - moves the story along with excellent mix of drama, surprise twists and humor. Following Harry Dresden as he negotiates a dangerous and difficult path through conflicting "worlds" is great fun.

The wonderful thing about following the Dresden Files is that the writer comes out with new books like clockwork and they never flag in quality. Butcher is masterful at weaving together edge-of-your-seat action with long germinating plots that take several books to develop. This entry is no exception and almost leaves more questioned unanswered than it resolves.

Harry Dresden and the cast are back for another round in A Small Favor. All of the major players have a piece in this tale, from the Faerie Courts to the Wardens and White Council, Marcone and his cronies as well as the entire Blackened Denarius (Nicklehead) crew, the Archive, the Knights and some of the powers unseen. The story is driven strongly by the sub plot of the last few books, with the formation of the Black Council and how their manipulations across the supernatural world are causing havoc.

Harry has been called in for a favor from Queen Mab of the Winter Court of the Sidhe. His job; rescue Marcone. Do this while dodging hitters from the Summer Court who have a knack for finding him, as well as hitters from the Winter Court who seem to disregard the fact that Harry is on their team, and doing battle with various enemies of the Fallen, the Order of the Blackened Denarius. From the first chapter to the last, the book is a rush of organized anarchy, with everything depending on Harry and his talent for being the wrench stuck in every dark plan that swings his way.

Its the 10th book of the series and doesn't disappoint. Now starts the countdown to Book 11.

Everything you've come to expect from Jim Butcher and Dresden. I only started reading this series back in September of last year and now I'm all caught up and waiting for the next arrival with anticipation!

With Summer fae attacking him at nearly every corner, Harry Dresden is called in to investigate a mysterious explosion in Chicago, caused by the use of lots of Hellfire and other magic.

Then Queen Mab appears, to call in one the favors Harry owes her. The favor, you ask? Rescue John Marcone from unknown assailants. With the Winter Queen asking the favor and Summer attacking Harry, you would think that Summer had kidnapped Marcone, right? Well you would be wrong…..

Massive spoilers follow.

Nope, it’s the Denarians. But Harry isn’t going in to this fight alone. There’s Michael Carpenter, Knight of Cross; Sanya, Russian Knight; Molly Carpenter, Harry’s apprentice; CPD SI Sargent Karren Murphy, the Achieve, Ivy, along with her bodyguard, Kincaid; Thomas, Harry’s half-brother and reformed White Court Vampire; and Captain Luccio, leader of the White Council’s Wardens; Ms. Gard and Hendrix, part of Marcone’s protection team.

This grabbed me from the second paragraph, and didn’t let go. Not even past the climax, which changes a major character in a big way. I only wish there had been more Bob, seeing that he’s only in two minor scenes. Even Mouse has bigger roles.

As always I was excited to get another Harry Dresden book in my hands. It was definately not a disappointment, from page one it was a great ride, Jim Butchers characters are always always so alive and intriguing. Love this book just like all before, I miss Harry and the bunch already and can't wait for the next. Thanks!

I really liked this one except what they did with Micheal I could have done without that part!
You got to learn more about Ivy in this book and I really liked what the author did with that.
Small Favor was one of the better ones of the series.

I thoroughly enjoy the sense of humor, vulnerabily, courage, and resoursefulness of Dresden! Each story is unique and yet ties into previous and future stories. The reader cannot help but be enthralled, entertained, and rewarded with satisfaction with each novel.

The Winter Queen Mab wants Harry to rescue Gentleman Johnny Marcone (gangster) from kidnapers who are very very powerful magically. As Harry still has to repay 2 of 3 favors owed he is stuck. The Queen of Summer opposes him just to make things interesting.

Usual excellent characters as well as good humor (the eldest and most powerful Gruf). Nicely done plot with good twists and over all excellent. A few minor bobbles mostly being unsure of whether or not its Summer or Winter.

One unresolved item, why is the Queen of Summer in opposition?

With considerable patience and thought this can be read standalone but I strongly recommend the series at least from Summer Knight (The Dresden Files, Book 4) if not the start.

I'm no stranger to the Dresden files. Jim Butcher's writing is a quick read and a real page-turner. It's a unique turn on the detective story with just the right combination of relatable characters, mystery-solving, and supernatural beings.

Love the series. Dresdens wise cracking comments are a hoot, Between him and his multi colored Volkswagen , they are beat to a pulp by nasties in every episode. I would recommend that you read the series in order, starting with book one, to get the full history and fun of the series.
