Working my way through this series for a second time. Almost done with the last book. Still LOVE it! It's so hard to find a well-written book. This series is IT! It follows the story of Han Allister, a street lord with a rough background who loses everything when he takes a "flashpiece" from a wizard one day. The story is also about a princess of the Gray Wolf line, Raisa, who is trying to grow into a woman--and eventually a queen. Lots of excellent world-building here, many surprises and twists. I just love how it all ties together, all the characters' stories interweaving. Plenty of romance... maybe too much. But also smart dialogue and action. Other, similar books I've enjoyed are Grave Mercy, The False Prince, and the Throne of Glass series. *Caution there is some spicy romance. Nothing too serious, but maybe NOT for the 12 & under crowd. Brief lesbian reference of a minor side character, but nothing tasteless.

Usually, a series like this loses steam somewhere around the third book. Not this one. Despite all of the separate plot lines, the author keeps each of them moving along at a brisk pace and expertly weaves them together until the very end. I truly hope that the author extends the series beyond the four books I just read because I will be first in line to read and recommend them. Although, I borrowed these books from the library, I am going to purchase them to be enjoyed again and again.
Exiled Queen, The (Seven Realms Book 2) :: Dragon Heir, The (Book 3) (Heir Chronicles) :: Demon King, The (Seven Realms Book 1) :: The Enchanter Heir (Heir Chronicles Book 4) :: The Sorcerer Heir: The Heir Chronicles, Book 5

Introduced the Niece to this set. She just graduated from 8th grade. So far, seems to really like them. As an adult, I read them when my kids read them. Good read. Violence is not graphic/gory/descriptive.

Books were in perfect condition (gladly) however the box was ripped almost all the way across the top and bottom, considering the outside packing wasn't damaged at all these had to have been boxed up already in this condition, not impressed with that! Didn't return them because my son was eager to start reading and didn't want to be put out by having another wait.

Outstanding series of books. It was an extremely quick read and entertaining the entire way. It's easy to see what will probably happen, but the whole time you are on the edge of your seat wondering how things will turn out.

Chima took her time to build this world and showed me that her ability to build a character is comparable to some of the greats. I absolutely fell in love with her characters. Chima truly took her time with these characters. I enjoyed how flawed and complex they are and how imperfectly the relationships manifested.
When I say I lost a lot of sleep, this is no exaggeration. I very often found it difficult to find a good place to stop, so I often didn’t!
I recommend this series to any person who enjoys the world of magic and fantacy.
If you do end up reading the series, know that there is a spin-off series called Shattered Realms. I won’t tell you anything about that series as to avoid spoilers for this one. But I will go ahead and suggest that you sit in the pocket of good feelings that the Seven Realms places you in. Sit there and enjoy it for suitable amount of time. Once Shattered Realms starts, those good feelings are so relentlessly ripped from the reader.
I highly recommend this series. I enjoyed it very much.
