Historical fiction is one of my favorites. This books was really captivating and I really enjoyed the charters. My only negative is that it ended quite fast and seemed to wrap up everything too quickly. Overall a great read.

Well written, the author's use of "historical" imagination is thoughtful as she attempts to get inside the heads of these very real characters & bring them to life. Would have liked a little more of Cleopatra Selene but that is just a personal preference & not necessary for the plot.

The author's insights into what the characters must have been thinking to act as they did were thought-provoking and entertaining.
Even though the main points of the story have been well-documented, Smith added subtleties to the characters' personalities that helped the story feel new.
