This book turned out to be nothing like I expected (in a good way). The book had everything that I like in a book- romance, suspense, drama, comedy. Reading the book was like a roller coaster ride of emotions, one minute you are happy, then the author tugs at your heart strings, and then a twist in the story happens here and there. Great read.

I was totally into the book during the first half, but after that, it felt as if the book relied on cliches to tie up loose ends. I still enjoyed this book for what I had picked it to be- a story to read. however, would I read it again? more than likely not.

This story was okay I guess..... I wish that forgiveness would have happened a lot sooner in the book. I give this book a 3 star rating. And I won't be buying the second and third book of the series. It didn't really interest me.

Every Little Piece (Second Chances #1)
by Kate Ashton
Seth and Haley have been in a relationship for years and its the day before graduation and they are going to celebrate in style with their friends but that night their lives are changed forever and they both have to try to live with the guilt they both feel.
This is a YA read so their is very little sexual situations it is also book 1 in the Second Chances series and be warned you will need a box of hankies on stand by for this emotional book. I didn't really know much about it before I started reading but I knew in my gut there was something going to happen and I really wasn't that shocked when it came to that part.
I had to put this one down to give myself a break from crying and even when I picked it up again I bawled my eyes out and feel wiped out. A few hours later I feel tears welling up again, the characters have been on my mind a few times today.
I really liked this characters and enjoyed reading their story, I found Seth to be a little childish the way he handles things but that's what I would expect from people that age they are not ment to be adults and this is where I think the author did so well and got them all spot on. I would certainly go on to read the next books in this series because I loved this one so much and where there is no cliffhanger ending I find myself wondering about the other characters and what is going on with them.
I would recommend this for anyone who enjoys emotional reads and enjoys books that are aimed at YA.
5 stars for the store & 4.5 stars for Goodreads

18-year-old Haley and her best friends are living it up the night before graduation, when the unthinkable happens, and their lives are changed drastically and irreversibly. Haley and her boyfriend Seth blame themselves, and both retreat into their own little worlds.
When Seth comes back into Haley's life one year later with a secret to tell her, neither of them are really ready to face what happened that night, until eventually they're forced to.
What really happened that night? Who was responsible? And will the truth drive an even bigger wedge between Haley and Seth?
This was a brilliant story about love, and grief, and forgiveness, that pummelled my heart, made me cry, and totally left me wanting more.
I loved the characters in this book. Haley was so broken after what happened, and it was so sad that Seth wasn't there to comfort her when he should have been. I really felt for both of them and the guilt they carried though, and as much as I wanted them to pull through what had happened to them, I really didn't see how they ever would.
The storyline in this book was emotional and heart-breaking, and even made me cry! I loved how such a relatively simple storyline could hold so much emotion, and feeling, and how one secret could change things so completely. The suspense was gut-wrenching, and I couldn't help but keep reading, even knowing that what was coming would hurt.
The ending of this story was so fitting, and even made a happy ending out of a terrible situation.
I only give 5 stars to books that I get to the end of and want to start reading again from the beginning, and that's exactly how I felt here.
Overall; a beautiful and heart-breaking YA contemporary romance. Highly recommended.
9.25 out of 10.

Cover: This cover fits perfectly with the book. It's hauntingly beautiful.

The amount of feels in this book should be illegal. Seriously, I have never felt so many emotions all at once. It's one of those books that should be sold with a box of tissues, hot chocolate, and a bottle of wine. But even though the author got me to cry, which I hardly ever do while reading, I really enjoyed this book.
Right off the bat I loved the characters. They're extremely relatable. Reading about Haley's interactions with her friends brought back memories of my friends. I felt like I was part of their group experiencing their last night before graduation too. Seth is adorable, although he does get a bit emo towards the middle of the book, but regardless I fell head over heels for this character. I enjoyed the dual POV between Haley and Seth as well. It let us get into their minds and see both sides of the story. Had we not seen Seth's POV I probably wouldn't have liked him as much.
This was New Adult at it's finest. New Adult books are often labeled "issue" books. And while there is a ginormous "issue" in this book it didn't feel like the tragedy was being pushed on the reader. It was what drove the plot, but this story was more about character development and how the tragedy affected their lives. It's a coming of age story and learning who you are and how to deal with life. Any book that can get you to think deeply and ultimately teaches you a lesson is one worth reading. In a way, it reminded me of a mixture of Leaving Paradise by Simone Elkeles and any Sarah Dessen book.
I only have one complaint and I can't say much without being spoilery. There were a few unrealistic things that happened. I think in real life the big secret would have come out the day the tragedy happened. I was confused why Seth's parents weren't asking him questions about the night. I was confused why the police weren't investigating things right after everything happened. I wondered why all the characters seemed to conveniently keep their car keys in their cars and the doors unlocked. But while these things bothered me, they didn't really change my overall reading experience. I realize it's a book and if any of those things had happened differently the plot wouldn't have moved forward at all.
Should you read this? YES! You're in for a roller coaster of emotions that will leave you smiling through the tears at the end. I read this book in two days and wish I had savored it more. Here's an excerpt from a book blitz I took part in if you want a sample.

Every Little Piece is the tragic story of a young couple and their struggle to overcome it.
Pros: Suspenseful...keeps you wondering what will happen next. A heartbreakingly tragic plot which gives you a peek at what its like to lose a loved one. A plot twist in the beginning I didn't see coming. Viewpoints of both the characters so that you knew what was going on with each of them when they necessarily didn't.
Cons: I couldn't really relate to the characters. The story was boring in the beginning until the first major change of events which made it more interesting. Lots of short sentences.
Verdict: I had trouble getting into this book at first. After the major tragic event I became a little more interested in the story. The plot flows well and isn't hard to comprehend but there wasn't anything special to keep my captivated. I enjoyed the story overall but it didn't blow me away.

Book Review: Every Little Piece : Second Chances #1
By: Kate Ashton
A heart touching young adult drama. A group of friends lives are changed forever the night before graduation. All due to a tragic accident. This breaks up friendships and a true love type of relationship. The pain, lies, and guilt attached to the accident aid in bad decisions that create even more pain. Which prolongs the critical healing needed to continue really living life.
The author did a great job making you feel and understand the characters pain. The pain hit like a domino effect, affecting many along the way. The end was tragedy. You can't help but keep reading wanting the characters to heal.

Every Little Piece was a pretty emotional read for me and I had a hard time putting it down because I REALLY wanted to find out what happened next! I liked that this story came from both Haley and Seth's point of view so the reader could understand what they are thinking and feeling. The events in the book definitely made me emotional at some points and I thought the emotions both the characters were feeling were pretty realistic. Both Haley and Seth had a hard time getting over something tragic that happened the year before and I think that people in the real world can relate and learn to let go.
I look forward to reading more of Kate Ashton's books in the future!

***Spoiler Alert***
Where do I start? Where to Begin? Humm... Let's start with the cover and work our way in. The first time I saw the cover for EVERY LITTLE PIECE I knew I wanted to read it. I thought hey that looks like my kind of book. After I read the synopsis I kept on shaking my head yes thinking this is a book I would like to read. I was lucky enough to get a e-Arc of EVERY LITTLE PIECE from Kate Aston (the author). I couldn't put it down. Although when I read the synopsis I thought it was going to be about a different sort of problem then what it ended up being. I'm not complaining one bit because I still enjoyed it!
It start off with the two main character Haley and Seth on Graduation night, This story is told in two POV. That of Haley and Seth. The chapters flip back and forth between the two. I especially enjoy the two person POV because you get to see and feel what is going on between the two main characters. They both have their problems that are best understood when read in their POV. So on Graduation night Seth receives some bad news that sends him into a down whirl spiral and instead of turning to Haley for advice and comfort, He choose to drink his sorrow and pain away at this huge party. Which leads to him being drunk and mean. He feels that the only way to clear his head and to prove to everyone that he isn't drunk is to get behind the wheel of his mom's van and drive.
Well we all know drinking and driving do not mix. One of Haley's best friends 'Brin' tells her that Seth left the party with a girl classmate. Haley is still fuming over the fight she had with Seth prior to him leaving the party but that's not why she is frantic about finding him nor is it the fact that he may be cheating on her. No, She focus solely on the fact that he is now on the road driving drunk.
She get's her other best friend 'Kama' to let her take her car so she may go looking for Seth. Of course her best friends Brin and Kama want to come along and help! They all get into the car and the rain starts to pour down. Driving around town trying not to panic but not knowing where Seth might be she rushes through the rain. The unthinkable happens when the car begins to hydroplane, She can't seem to get it to stop and then...
She wake up in the hospital.
Not sure what happened the night before Seth wakes to find himself at home. Unaware that anything has happened to Haley or her Best friends. Later on he finds out that he hit something in his mom's van. The whole front of the van was in ruins. He later finds out what happened to Haley and her best friends. He feels he may be responsible since he over heard a conversation about a hit and run accident while at the hospital when he goes to see Haley. He chooses not to visit her while she is in the hospital because he feels he may be the reason she is in there. They slowly drift apart because of pain and lies of each others secrets.
Haley while still in the hospital finds out some heart shattering news about her two best friend ( yes you might just cry at this part!) She blames herself and goes into a depression bubble. For the next year her and Seth have been a part. She has been working in a restaurant by the beach and He working on a ranch out west. When he comes back and she sees him her whole world turns upside down.
In the End it all works the way I wanted it too! I was very pleased with the ending of EVERY LITTLE PIECE. I would tell you the best part of the ending but I dont want to spoil anymore for you so you will just have to pick up EVERY LITTLE PIECE and read it!! If only there could be a little novella of How Seth and Haley's life is together 10 years later that would be Awesome. * Cough* Kate? Think about it*cough* hehe what can I say I'm a romantic at heart. EVERY LITTLE PIECE is a heartfelt story that will make you cry, smile, and melt your heart with love.
It's a must read! Can find this review and other on my blog [...]

This was a beautifully written love story. Kate Ashton knows how to write contemporary love stories. There was an element of tragedy that makes you wonder if happiness is possible for Haley and Seth. Kate Ashton also did a great job of writing the story from both points of view.

I thought every little piece was just okay because of the tone of the whole book. The two main characters Seth and Haley knew each other since they were little kids but had these misunderstandings that could have been resolved with communication. The book kind of dragged on for to long about the same issue till resolved at the end. I did think the ending was nice and wrapped everything up for closure.
