Disappointing. Huston has had many amazing experiences, but unfortunately they are told in the most superficial way. No meaning or insights are offered, even about the most profound experiences. Instead, we are given details about exactly what she wore, and when, and what other people were wearing, and how various auditions went, and what some famous director said to her, etc. A very shallow autobiography.

Somehow, the overall impression I had throughout was that she never really put her heart into her life, in spite of some dramatic acting out. One star for the few bright spots, where we learn how the people whose names are dropped throughout affect her emotionally, but these attempts were too few and too under developed. She put more effort into naming famous (I guess) people and describing what she was wearing.

I read Angelica Houston's first installment memoir with rapt attention learning of her younger years in Ireland, growing up with a famous father and ballerina mother who left her life too soon, eagerly anticipating, and pre-ordering her second installment about her adult life up until now. I've read a lot of memoir's a biographies, but none so illustrative and entertaining as Anjelicas, told from her unique, open and honest point of view.
I have always admired her as an actress, eagerly awaiting her next film, TV show or appearance as she always stood out as an original, a character actress, a real beauty. The sheer amount of gliterati that has graced her life, is impressive enough and she introduces us to highlights, associations and relationships with actors, producers, artists and behind the scenes persons that we all "know" or have heard of, with complete frankness and kindness. You get a sense that she understood her privilege while travelling to innumerable countries, film sets, living many new and different lives with friends all over the world, from different walks of life and cultures. She treats her lengthy relationship with Jack Nicholson with sensitivity and an obvious enduring love to a friendship that continues to this day. Though suffering heartbreaking loss throughout her life, it seems to weave a thread of strength, determination and the admiration of so many steadfast friends that have remained by her side throughout her life. She shares intimate details about her homes, her personal taste, her ideas on fashion, make-up, hairstyles, pets and animals, partying, nature and mostly fun!
There is a lot to admire in the seamless telling of her story which I could not easily put down. She had a great love for her famous father, John Houston which carried through to her devotion and admiration for her siblings, nephews, neice's and their children. She was quite candid about her personal struggles, party days, inability to conceive a child and fierce independent nature. I only wish 'Smash' had continues (I loved that show!), and that Anjelica continues to grace us with more of her superior acting, modeling and public appearances. I can't get enough of her and feel privileged to have shared the stories of her life, during her lifetime so she can know how valued she is to so many for her enduring contributions to the arts and our lives as such an enigmatic personality. Sharing her life has been one of themosst biographical pleasures I have had in years!!

Anjelica Huston has led quite a life, which is documented so brilliantly in her latest novel "Watch Me", along with beautiful pictures to go along with the story. The highs and the lows, the strong men and her sweet spirit, the loves and the heartbreaks are described with all the emotion that is still brought to bear. One thing that runs consistently through this novel and her first one about the first half of her life "A Story Lately Told" is her love of animals, and especially dogs.

everything her first book was not, gossipy, real without an ounce of sentiment. When she says "Ryan O'Neal runs hot," when you see him in person, he really does look sweaty and overheated. For a tell all, she doesn't tell all, as there is nothing about Roman Polanski with an underage girl at the home she and "Jack" shared but oddly, she does tell of getting busted for drugs with Polanski and also about a horrific car crash that destroyed her nose. She tells oodles about the late Hollywood agent Sue Mengers who so far as i could tell, was never her agent and her dear old dad who was a rascal to his last breath. Mostly, though, it's about Jack, she leaves him, she goes back, she gets another woman pregnant, she fights with him as if they were married when they never were. It's a true love story in that sense. The format suits her, in the first book, she comforted no one, she cared about no one, here, it may be the same person but she does care for her ex mother in law Ceci, for the unknown "Herky," for Mitch Glazer, she shares more of herself so that was nice to read, also she has an almost funny rationalization for her TV work that must have been hard to write for someone from Hollywood's most famous film family. I do remember her on "Laverne and Shirley," she was really good.

Enjoyed reading about life as a celebrity. ..realized I wouldn't want that kind of life, but it was kind of neat looking over her shoulder, so to speak, seeing how these celebrities live in this world of ours.

What a selfabsorbed spoiled bunch they all are. It was almost sad to think it was a memoir and not fiction. They should all get a real life and do something for people who are less fortunate. I really just had to hurry through most of it. Awful read. MK

It was interesting learning about her life with Jack Nicolson (sp) but the prose was very lengthy and jumped around from many timelines, a problem I find with most autobiographies. I realky like her, but this book was mediocre at best and I wish I had my money back.

Thoroughly enjoyed it! Very heartfelt. Great narrative on Hollywood in the 70's. Her story makes me think about the value of relationships and family. Beautiful book. Thank you for sharing your life with us Anjelica!

Easy read and lots of celebs are discussed in bio because they were part of her life and her dad's career. Clearly, she came from privileged family background but at same time she worked hard at her craft never a slouch.

This is an incredible book by a warm, intelligent and beautiful woman embroiled in an agonizing relationship. Her candor is admirable-she is not looking for sympathy but just wants to tell her story. I have always been a fan of Ms. Huston, and this
book makes me a great admirer of her as well.
