Way too much musings of what lead character thought. I didn't even finish the book . I found it extremely boring having to read what the lead character was thinking all the time. A lot of back and forth about took place in her mind about past books in the series as if the thought or intention was never completed. Move on already. When I first started the series I got hooked, now I'll never purchase another because the stories remind of a 50s sci-fi campy movie.

First off, I want to assure every mystery reader out there that the Samantha Moon series is so much more than a supernatural vampire series. My main reason for reading (and loving) this series is for the mysteries and the character of Samantha Moon—she’s a regular divorced mom with regular mom worries that come with those things. Things that me, as a divorced mother and professional myself, can completely relate to. And yes, okay, there’s an awful lot of supernatural goings on, which being written by JR Rain, completely snuck up on me and sucked me in from book 1. And here I am on book 11, still as hooked as before. There are a few authors that have a gift of writing that is completely smooth, that allows my mind to wander through the pages as I read, and the story just flows to the point that when I finish I can’t believe I’ve read the entire book so quickly. Rain does that for me every time. He has the magic to do it and it just makes me smile to get my hands on a new book. Samantha Moon is one of my all time favorites.

Fans of this series will be thrilled to know that this book is more of the same, yet we get the real dirt (haha!) into Franklin, Kingsley’s butler. Also, this book is longer than most of the other VFH books, which is an extra treat. You could probably pick this book up and make some sense of it if you haven’t read all the others, but I wouldn’t suggest it; it would ruin the beginning of the series for you. Work your way up to this one. Another great book in a series full of supernatural mysteries.

Another Great Story!
ARC REVIEW
SPOILERS MAYBE MENTIONED
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest thoughtful review.(thank you again, totally excited to do it)
REVIEW:
I just loved the evolution of Sam's story line. I always enjoy how perfect you describe her relationship with her children and how you get the teenage angst just right. I can't get over how well you describe her daughter's melt downs, irritations, and eye rolls., I would swear you have a daughter of your own.
I love that you have her and Kingsley back together - while they manage to get into trouble together it's still a great pair to read and follow.
What a great idea to include Franklin in this novel and I loved the backstory on him.
I would expect nothing more than Sam fighting to save one child even though her own was in danger. I love how she has developed - even though evil resides within her she is adamant to hold on to her humanity. Her relationship with her children is very believable and I think it's one of the many reasons I enjoy this series so much. It is very realistic and similar to my own family dynamic.
LOVED THE INCORPORATION OF YOUR OTHER BOOKS IN THIS NOVEL!
While I have read the many books referenced in the book, I don't think it would confuse other readers who may not read them. If anything I felt it encouraged them to get on the store and download them to see what they are missing.
For those who are sticklers about editing, FYI this one is perfect!
ANOTHER GREAT ASPECT ABOUT THIS NOVEL, IN MY HUMBLE OPINION:
I loved how the story wrapped up, some other stories seemed to end quite quickly, I felt this one took its time to end. No rush needed. Touched on all the main characters and wrapped up their involvement in Sam's latest adventure.
OVERALL:
Once again a great story. It was fun and funny.I always hate to see a great story end. I encourage all my friends and family to read the Vampire for Hire series because I feel it is so easy to care about and well worth it. Start with book 1 and you will be hooked, I promise.

Another excellent addition to the Samantha Moon collection. I was lucky enough to be selected to read this as an ARC (advance reader copy) from the author and am thankful for the trust given to me.
This book continues the quest for knowledge and deeper understanding of her predicament with the vampire ways, a lochness type "monster" is appearing and stealing young boys from their secluded mountain lake homes. Private detective Samantha Moon is asked by a witness to investigate their disappearances and find the boys, probably before it is too late.
With the help of her witchy BFF, her hunky boyfriend who turns into a werewolf on the full moon, and her alchemist librarian teacher, she finds her way to the answers she is looking for to solve this crime.
Along the way she A- figures out what her other half (by this I mean what she turns in to when she jumps from a high location) actually is and a cool new trick. B- must keep her daughter safe from a life and death situation and C- figures out just what the heck her boyfriends "butler" really is. And is there more out there just like him? And D- is this the answer behind those Loch Ness monster sightings?
No spoilers from me, you will have to read the book to find out.

I have enjoyed the Vampire for Hire series but still having constant editing problems is just laziness after 11 books. The first 8 books kept jumping around with the different gem types used in the medallions changing even within the same book. This newest book forgets Samantha's teleportation power till the ending. The "alchemist children" have silver animals in their aura at one point and golden one in another.... This is what an editor or just a regular proofread would catch easily. I noticed an ad for writers to submit "Samantha Moon" stories online which makes me wonder if other writers are "helping" with this series. The least they could do would be to keep the facts in line with each other through the various books. The old Hispanic man in this book has no technology (kindle, nook, cell phone, tablet, computer etc.) and yet at the ending Samantha becomes his Facebook friend???? This makes no sense at all!
Another glaring problem is Samantha's glaring parenting (or total lack there of...) skills. She is supposed to be a wonderful Mom despite her vampirism yet she allows her daughter to run wild drinking, sneaking out night after night to be with older guys and do drugs, and more. What does Samantha do? She hugs her daughter, jokes about it all, allows her daughter to go out with the same friends, gives her cell phone back to help the little delinquent and goes to cry.... Come on!!! What parent would let their child whom they supposedly LOVE enough to overcome all the "bad" sunlight and other vampire curses, act this way over and over? With no guidance or discipline? Make her a real parent who lovingly raises her kids or write them out of the series.
Unfortunately because I really liked this series at first, I am not sure if I can continue overlooking all the problems. I do not buy books to get irritated due to poor editing.

Samantha Moon is an awesome character when I think that she can't get any bad-ass Rain ups a notch. Sam's ability to deal with her children and their unique powers. while dealing with her own dark gifts is amazing.

I also love the interaction with Sam's werewolf lover Kingsley it's a fun loving relationship that's not written in a way that a lot of mushy lovers are. It's more believable this way because rain allows glimpse of Sam's attraction to others like Fang and the Librarian but doesn't allow her to take it to a place where she would cheat on her boyfriend.

We also get the low down on Kingsley's butler that blew me away!

All I can say is bring on the next adventure in Samantha Moon's life because I know it will be a blast!!!!

My hat's off to you Mr. Rain well written novel that didn't disappoint your true fans! BRAVO!!!!!

Four because we finally get Franklin's story. And because you compared Kingsley to Jason Mamoa, and that is exactly who I pictured for him. One heck of a man! I appreciated that she finally reaches her daughter who was getting out of control. But that being said I struggled with giving it a 3 or a 4 star because of all the repetition. I don't think all of her (the heroines) story needs to be retold. It could have easily been written without so much repeat. Twice you mentioned her alchemists lineage. Once again Samantha Moon solves crime while battling an immortal. But I don't like how she just left Kingsley there, and then he was no longer mentioned. It also hints of what's in store for Anthony, not too happy with that .

It seems like forever since Samantha Moon's last book. I am thrilled to say that it was worth the wait. Another mystery takes place in a desert area with a small lake. Two youths have gone missing and dark shadows have been seen in the lake. Sam wants to save them. Of course, she also needs to save her daughter, who can hear everything people think, from danger. Sam dreams her death over and over but won't let it stand in the way of saving her baby. However, she's caught the attention of a sinister man and may not survive to save anyone. Excellent storyline and characters. Intriguing plots with mystery and suspense. I hope the next book is coming soon. It's one of my favorite series!

I received an advanced readers copy and was asked to be very truthful in my review. I do not know the author nor have I ever met him. J.R.Rain is an amazing author. His books keep me turning the pages and never wanting the story to stop. This book was the same way.I found this one to be the best book yet in this series. It explained some things from other books and is also the type of book you could also read alone. You would then want to start at the beginning and read them all. Fast moving, very interesting as parts unfold. I do not want to spoil any of the book. I will just say I loved it. I read the book in 2 days as I did not want to put it down.

Never realized how long this book was going to be. Wasn't disappointed at all with where the story was going. This could have easily been a two book story. I love the fact that SAMs daughter is growing up and is having teenager issues. I don't however like the fact that Kingsley isn't having more dialogue. He's there but it seems like he's not fully interactive, I miss the beast within him coming out. But I still love that he's there for Sam. I'm also happy to know that Franklin now has a past that we understand, as well as talos. Can't wait for the next book. Sorry it took me so long to write the review.

I have continued to read this series despite the glaring editing issues. Now the author has started repetitive paragraphs and changing his past story lines...what used to be a giant vampire bat just happened to be a mistaken assumption for Samantha Moon and she just now finds out she is turning into a dragon??? I get that Kindle Unlimited pays by the pages that are read but padding a book with constant re telling is irritating. I think I've finally had enough

Wow Wow Wow!!! What a great book! Just when you think that there can't be another surprise, THERE IS! His characters are very well developed and you cannot help becoming attached to them. This book answered a lot of questions, but yet I have more. Every time I finish one his books I am can't hardly wait until the next one. This book may have been the best yet out of the series but I know I will feel the same way about the next one. This series just gets better and better. Read it, you will not be disappointed.

Once again, my favorite Soccer mom/minivan driving/ vampire, is on the case! I loved this book. I love Samantha Moon and I love the cases she gets involved in. Each book, Sam learns a little bit more and more about herself and the demon she carries. The characters in this book are so well written, they feel like friends at this point. The cases Sam gets involved with are unique and have the twists and turns that keep me guessing. I also love that JR makes references in his books about other characters in other books of his. I highly recommend this book as well as the other Samantha Moon series.

Wow is wow. Another amazing story. I was wondering about a lake monster about what it could be! Wow never thought. And so strange to think the dear Frankenstein was still alive so to speak! I like Franklin a little more now lol. So the premonition of Sam's daughter was a scary one and shown true! Dumb kids. Truth driver heart attack is a real fear for sure, glad he made it as glad the kids did as well and omg Luke. She saved him to. I love max so far.

I love anything with a DAvid and Goliath plot. What is better than a kick butt heroine. but I hate anything that is DAvid and Bathsheba. Rain can not know anyone close to see the pain caused by a cheating parter. I starting out skipping past the erotic parts, they were so few and the story was so good. By book 11, at 60 percent, I realized I had skipped 50 percent of the story to avoid her and Kingsly and gave up. I had to put my tablet aside and re-read The Deed Of Paksenarrion for the fifth time just to get out of the depression I was in. I will never read another Rain novel

Welcome to the world of Samantha Moon, mother ,girlfriend , private detective and vampire

In this installment of the series . Samantha is hired to find some missing boys at Lake Elsinore.

She also has to keep her daughter safe and keep a premonition from coming true . All in a days work for a mom . Will she have to choose only she knows.

I must say I was so excited when I got this book . I basically read the day away . I love how even after 11 books J.R can still take Samantha and the rest of the characters and keep the fresh . You see everyone growing up and taking on so much more . Samantha has grown and kept her new powers in check , even keeping Dracula in line . She is still your typical mom but we see her break down when it comes to her daughter. The kids are growing and becoming more and more powerful in their own right . Even Kingsley seems larger then life and loving life with Samantha. You can't but fall in love with these characters . They are so complex but also feel like they could be your sister or best friend .

This book has everything a good book junkie could ever ask for . We have mystery , danger and even a little splattering of romance all rolled into a great story. To add to the mix we also have vampires, werewolves , dragons and even some creepy monsters . This is a fun read , it seemed like I was giggling and laughing hard all the way through, it had me snorting half way through. You may laugh but this author isn't scared to tackle the topics of the day either . There is a very sweet scene between Samantha and her daughter that will make you want to hug your mom . I can't stop talking about this book. I love this series so much . If you want a great series that will make you giggle and take you away for a few hours . Check out the SAMANTHA MOO series . You will not be disappointed .

I have been been painfully waiting for this book for some time. Sometimes when you are waiting with such high expectations, the result is disappointing. That is not the case with Moon Shadow. Not only does it continue to entertain with the sharp whit that I have come to expect, but we get to know some people on a deeper level, that I have been really wanting to know more of. J.R. Raine takes you one step forward into Sam's world and will leave you wanting more than before, if that is possible.

I was in love with this installment of Samantha Moon's story. I was given an arc copy in exchange for an honest review. Although the book is now released I don't want to give spoilers. I will say that the continuation of the story heads in a fantastic direction-the pace is fast and the details are amazing. I never felt we were short-changed on details or missing essential things from the story, as can happen sometimes in a fast-paced book. As I am a fan of this series, I was very happy at having some questions answered that I've had for a few books now. I love the twists J.R. Rain gives to supernatural lore, forming his own place in the world of books, and this book delivered on that wonderfully. I was gripped from the beginning.

I have to say also, that I was very impressed that the author didn't bog us down in reviewing past events-which is something that can turn me off even in a well-loved series. There was enough of a review in certain instances to refresh us of the circumstances leading up to certain moments, but it was not over done and didn't take away from the story; it enhanced the flow.

There were a few instances of grammatical errors that made me pause a moment in my reading, but overall it didn't remove anything from the story. .

I love how he writes in the character's first person, and think he has refined his gift for giving the impressions of a characters emotions, experiences and points of view, and also her humor. Combined with the action-packed events, it makes for a gripping read, and I recommend it highly.

I have followed Sam's journey since the first book in the series. I enjoy the writing style of JR and love the humor he adds to his writing. As you read the book you chuckle along the way. I love vampire books and Sam is a BAD A$$ Vampire and Mom. She will do anything to protect her kids. I love the combination of things Supernatural Vampires, Ware-wolfs, Witches OH MY. As with all the Samantha Moon books I just couldn't stop reading it. I'm really enjoying reading about Samantha and Kingsley, he was always my favorite and I think they match really well. This was an especially exciting book in the series with an extra monster or two for Samantha to take on. Lots of action just the way I like it. Always looking forward to the next one in this exciting series.

Sam's kids are growing up. They are discovering strengths and unexpected powers. Tammy can read minds, even immortal minds. Not making life any easier for her mother. Anthony is stronger than 6 men and he's not even a teenager yet.

The Moon family is unique.

I am 60 years old. I have read voraciously since I was 10 years old. This series by J R Rain stands out. It doesn't get sloppy into the series. I can believe that there are vampires out there. I absolutely love this series. I ripped through it night and day. Now I eagerly await the arrival of the newest release. I like the fact that she doesn't have to use sex to keep you fascinated with the story. Thank you, J R Rain. I appreciate the joy that you have given me.

I love Samantha Moon books. Although lately seems like there are large sections that repeat a lot of stuff from previous books. Which I understand if your a new reader you would be lost but then again it is a series so they should stay at the beginning anyway. I would recommend these books to anyone who has a soft spot for a vampire mom who kicks some butt and does some other super natural things. I can't wait for the next one!!!

A single mother of two super powered children, hunting down lake monsters, trying to prevent death dreams from coming true, werewolf boyfriend who keeps getting bigger and bigger, demons, angels. The list goes on and on and this woman manages to keep her head. I'd be bald from pulling my hair out.

Always a pleasure to read Samantha Moon books. This particular one, I really enjoyed. Just the right amount of humor too.

Not crazy about a Frankenstein dude who turns into a massive worm, but somehow it all fit together.

Fun and sadly, too quick of a read. Before I knew it, I was finished.
