I rarely take time to write a review even though I read books constantly, but this was one of those I just couldn't put down! It was a great read and held my attention, which is hard to do as I will scan ahead if a book isn't as interesting. I hope another book will follow soon- this story line was amazing!!!

With great characters and a great story you can't go wrong!! I love that this book brought a different kind of supernatural and it wasn't just the typical paranormal story! Can't wait for the next book!

I love her writing style. This 1st book in this series was just one of the many exceptional pieces we can only get from Ms. Hunter. I look forward to the next book. I literally could not put this one down!

Enjoyed the building of characters. The development of the story kept me entertained and wanting to keep reading. Can't wait for the next book. Fell in love with the heroine and her snarky, sarcastic wit.

I read this in one sitting, the intrigue, action, and drama are impeccable. The badass female lead character having to hide her true power all while trying to save the world and juggling two lifestyles was seamlessly written. I can't wait for more from this series and one of my favorite new authors! Enjoy!!!!

Actually 3.5 stars, Double -sided magic introduces snarky supernatural Levy of Legacy descent. She is in hiding due to sins of her ancestors, and hiding her magic from supernatural community. However, she gets tangled up with Shapeshifter guild & Supernatural council trying to prove her innocence while framed magical crime.

I was hooked right away with all of the characters. Great story line without all the unnecessary violence. So glad I found this and happy that there are more already written! Can’t wait to start the next one

The story was ok. It wasn't terribly riveting, but it sufficiently held my attention. I was bothered by the flaws in editing, more than anything else. The characters are your standard, urban fantasy types.

The story and characters are interesting. If the editing was a bit bette and the story went a little deeper, it would be worthy of a book coma. I'm excited to see where the story goes and I hope we get more about Anya/Levy's origin story.

I really liked this book ?. Great start for a new Urban Fantasy series. Both Levy and Gareth are very intriguing characters. Same goes for Lucas, although I would have loved to see more character development in his case. Can't wait to see what happens next.

I enjoyed reading. The characters stayed in character and didn't behave in ways that make the reader go "Why would they do that?" The humor is sprinkled in nice proportion. I'm eager to continue the story.

The author successfully explained the world the main character lives in making it an immersive book. I enjoyed the main characters snarky attitude and banter towards her possible love interest. I would suggest this book to others.

In the realm of Urban Fantasy it's hard to find something really unique, but that's exactly what you'll find in this book. A delightful addition to the genre! Can't wait to see what this series will bring next!

Just a few pages in and I can't even stomach trying to sift through all the horrible typos. 3 pages out of five are off by a whole paragraph or don't connect at all. Zero stars if that were an option. Books like these make me hate the ebook boom. Zero editing. Waste of time. This just pisses me off its so bad.

I had to think carefully about why I did not like this book. I finally decided it was pacing and plot that bothers me the most. I would have given a it a 2.5 if I had that option. First the good points. Levy is an interesting character and the action is fast paced. The world is ok with supernaturals all out in public after an attempt by a type of supernatural to kill all the others. The bad points are many, but most are not a book killer. First Levy the lone survivor of the supernaturals who tried to kill the others and has lived hidding herself. So far this is formula. I know at least half a dozen series with similar plots. Not a horrible thing. There is little truly new today. She works as an agent for a fae to collect magic items for clients. Again nothing new here. She is forced to work with the head shifter to find a magical item after it is stolden. As shifters are in charge of hunting down and killing her kind obvious problems. This is where ploting and pacing bring the book down. The relationship with her fae boss drops completely out of the plot. Her secret is at best poorly protected as she runs around. Remember this is the first book in a series and the secret is already revealed. The relationship with the hot shifter is poorly developed. Levy has hidden all her life and she responses to her shifter with all the control of a teenager in her first crush. I have seen this before. So many authors seem unable to build strong characters because they are such a hurry. Finally, the introduction of nemesis character is again a victim of pacing. Sequals could have built to the reveal. Instead we run to the confrontation in the first book. It had potential.

I really don't like writing negative reviews; however, this author has the potential to tell a really good story, but didn't. The biggest issue with this is the constant repetition of how bad the Legacy were and how their genocide was completely understandable and justified. Of course, the main character is a Legacy in hiding and is one that truly thinks that she deserves to be killed since some (but NOT all) of her kind did a terrible thing before she was born. However, she doesn't want to die even though she thinks she should. By the beginning of the second chapter, one is very tired of this (and it comes across as hypocritical as well). Unfortunately, this is the main theme throughout the rest of the book too.

Also, Levy has been in hiding for years and has been found again. The rest of the book, she behaves out of character. She would have run away again rather than stay and fight. She was very proud of the fact that she doesn't kill. When she did kill, it doesn't really bother her.

The MC repeats over & over again about how the Legacy did the cleanse & b/c of this special & her family were hunted. Not a page goes by without bringing it up, jic we forgot. But that is not the only thing that is repeated, even the fact that she lives on the periphery of the city is mentioned at least 3 times. I think repetition was used so much in this book b/c there was so little to the story.

Seems this book was written quickly, published quickly, with more to follow. Quickly.
Many unexplained coincidences or improbable sequences. As one review said - very predictable, and the surprise ending! Oh my gosh, HE KNEW!
