If you read this series, more than likely you love Tobin. As is said in this book a few times, he’s a “good guy”, a “boy scout” even. Poor Tobin, always overlooked for the other men of Muddy Gap. One of the wonderful things about Tobin is how much he cares about the Mud Lilies and is always there to get them out of trouble. (Hence, the “good guy” label.) The way things went down in the previous book, Wrapped and Strapped, broke my heart for Tobin.

In this story, Tobin is ready to move on. Out of Muddy Gap, away from his friends who tend to take him for granted, away from a town that doesn’t have anyone he sees himself spending his future with. Of course, good guy that he is, he puts his plans on hold to help one of the Mud Lilies. Garnet is nothing if not eccentric, but Tobin knows she shouldn’t be packed up and moved into a home.

Garnet’s granddaughter, Jade, confused me for a bit. I wanted to hate her but could tell there was something good about her. Like Tobin pointed out, if she’s so close to grandma why has nobody met her before? It kept me in a state of distrust for a bit with Jade.

You’d have to be blind to not see the sparks that instantly flew between Tobin and Jade. I love how their story progressed out of respect for each other and not just lust. It was quick, but it made a lot of sense. They tried to keep their feeling under wraps but everyone who saw them together knew what was going on. There own efforts to keep their relationship above the clothes somehow ended up being super steamy. The two of them just fit together.

There is a surprise at the end, but I think it’s something you kind of know as you’re reading. It was still fun to get the details of the how and why.

We meet Tobin’s family and learn a bit about them in this story. I wanted to punch his dad and oldest brother through the pages of my book! But I’m glad he will get to mend some fences with his other brother, Streeter. This book seemed to be setting up the Riss/Ike story for the future, but I’d also like to see Streeter get his HEA someday.

One note for those who regularly read Lorelei James: I actually waffled between giving this an R rating or the NC-17 rating. It’s quite tame compared to her other books, although still smoking hot.

Hang Tough is Book 8 of the Blacktop Cowboys series by Lorelei James. I've been lucky enough to read a few stories in this series but unfortunate that I haven't gotten to them all yet. A detail which I plan to remedy as soon as I can. It definitely stands alone on its own so no worries if you have not yet read the rest of the series either.

This story was certainly jampacked with great character development, an engaging plot and hot and steamy love scenes that kept me so engaged that I didn't want to put it down. Those old ladies were certainly crafty and kept the story lively.

Both Tobin and Jade's characters showed a lot of depth and emotion. Two lonely souls finally finding the one to complete them. I also enjoyed the interactions with the secondary characters. I see a story in the future for Riss and Ike.

Having read a lot of the stories Ms. James has written over the years, I have yet to be disappointed and Hang Tough was certainly no exception.

I LOVED this book. It was a really great contemporary romance story that was sweet, filled with hot cowboys, a feisty New Yorker and her crazy grandma.

Tobin is a born and bred rancher who just happens to be incredibly intelligent and a nice guy (thus why he always finishes last it seems). He's living with his favorite "Mud Lily," Garnet since she swears her son is going to send movers to her home and send her to a nursing home after her recent trouble with the law. He's there to be her protector and that's why Jade is sent to Muddy Gap to see if this protector is after her grandmother's riches. Tobin definitely deserved some happiness in his life. His family has cast him aside because he's well-educated and they don't think he fits with the family now. I really disliked his family, except his older brother who lost his wife (I hope he gets his own story, he was a sweetheart). He was also always viewed as the nice guy, so he never 'got the girl' and was looking for someone to love and settle down with.

Jade is a shy exotic beauty and New Yorker adopted as a baby, a Columbia graduate and a musician, but she's just been wondering through life lately. She had a breakdown before and hasn't been the same since. She can't find a job in her major and has been working multiple part-time jobs in NY, including one that involved food prep in a restaurant kitchen. Her trip to Muddy Gap wasn't welcome at first, but she eventually fell in love with the place (even if her boredom led to anxiety).

Tobin and Jade immediately bumps heads - neither trusts the other, but they can't deny that they find each other attractive. What happens after this is a slow-simmering romance behind Garnet's back. I really did think they were perfect for each other. Garnet was quite the stink pot too - the ending surprised me a bit. I wish there had been an epilogue to show what their life was like now with their new jobs, home and life as a couple.

Hang Tough is the eighth novel in the Blacktop Cowboy series. Lorelei has a few novellas tucked in among the full length novels, but this particular book focuses on Tobin Hale, a real sweetheart of a cowboy who has been long overdue to meet his perfect mate. As a matter of fact Lorelei about did all of us faithful readers in at the end of her last novel (Wrapped and Strapped) when Tobin announced he was leaving. That sweet man leave?! He couldn't leave. What he needed was a swift kick in the pants and then he needed love and he needed it fast.

I'll let you in on a little secret, Lorelei didn't disappoint. She found Tobin the perfect girl.

Tobin was tired of living his life in a holding pattern, watching everyone else move on with theirs. He had plans which involved moving on and out of Muddy Gap. But before Tobin could leave town, Garnet asked the young cowboy for help and it just so happens that Tobin has a soft spot for all of the Mudlillies. A group of rambunctious women who also happen to cause havoc all over town. Garnet is desperate and Tobin is just helping out his friend, or so he keeps telling himself. When Garnet's family gets wind of a young cowboy moving in with her, well, it doesn't take long before Jade Evans, the granddaughter of the infamous Mudlilly, shows up in town. However, Jade believes the sexy, young cowboy is there to take advantage of her grandmother and Jade will go down swinging defending her grandmothers honor even if Garnet tries everything to keep those two apart. Jade and Tobin just don't realize that the harder Garnet tries to keep them apart the more they want to be together.

This book was such a pleasure to read. A complete cat and mouse game of watching two "kids" trying not to get caught as they test their boundaries. They are both caught in a game they didn't even know they were playing and it was a complete joy to read.

Tobin has always been a favorite character of mine and I was so happy that he finally received his happily ever after, that will also keep him around in the series.

Hang Tough is top-notch entertainment! Tobin Hale, sexy strapping cowboy, is fed up with his lonely, unchallenging job and personal life. Muddy Gap - smallest town USA, has run out of offers in either department, he's moving on to bigger and better. Big city, Jade Evans, is working 3 mundane jobs to be independent from her parents financial support, bored and unable to find a job in her college educated field, gets coerced to go West and check on her grandmother Garnet's mental stability to continue to live alone. Through the conniving of Jade's grandmother and her pals the Mud Lilies, all kinds of mischief is wrought. I laughed and cried as Tobin and Jade start out as enemies, both thinking they are protecting Garnet and go on to fall in love. This is book #8 in the Black Top Cowboys series (all are standalone), having read the others, it's like coming home, knowing the other characters and their background. Loved reading it and cannot wait for more!

It was great getting to spend some extra time with the Mud Lilies and getting a little insight into one of their lives. Tobin has adored Garnet (Miz G) from the time he met her, Garnet has had a special fondness for Tobin from the beginning. Miz G starts to have concerns that she has overstepped her bounds with her son and he will ship her off to a nursing home. Garnet's son decides to send his daughter to check on Garnet. When Jade arrives the hackles are raised since Tobin is living with Garnet to keep a moving van from just appearing and shipping her off. Jade is equally unsure of Tobin since she believes he is taking advantage of her GG. When the gloves come off Garnet tells them they are not to be alone together and even charts times they will have with her but not together. As with all things forbidden we know what the outcome was. I was really happy to revisit Muddy Gap and am looking forward to popping in again and again.

Hang Tough by is a sweet, steamy and humorous addition to Lorelei James’ marvelous Blacktop Cowboy series. Although it is the eighth book in the series, it can easily be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend the previous novels as well.

Tobin Hale is a genuinely nice, thoughtful and considerate man but he is ready to move on from Muddy Gap in hopes of finding a career that utilizes his degrees. The charming cowboy is also hoping a new beginning will jump-start his lackluster love life since he cannot seem to make a connection with any of the ladies in town. Just as he hands in his notice at the Split Rock Ranch and Resort, his vivacious friend and neighbor, octogenarian Garnet Evans, finds out her son is planning to move her into a retirement home. Tobin temporarily moves in with Miz G to ensure she is not forced out of her home, but he is taken off guard by the arrival of Garnet’s granddaughter, Jade. Certain that Tobin is planning to fleece her grandmother, Jade arrives at Garnet’s in full protective mode. The sparks are soon flying between the city girl and the cowboy but will Tobin and Jade’s preconceived opinions about each other prevent them from acting on their attraction?

After watching his friends find love, Tobin is frustrated by always finding himself friend zoned by the women who catch his eye. With a very limited dating pool available in the small town of Muddy Gap, he is certain that moving is the answer to his problem. This decision is made much easier since he is also ready for a career change too. But there is no way Tobin is going to allow the dynamic Miz G to be forced out of her home, so he pushes back his departure date in order to watch out for her. He is absolutely furious when Jade shows up at her grandmother’s ranch since he is extremely suspicious of her motives since this is the first time she has visited Miz G.

Jade is determined to save her grandmother from the unscrupulous cowboy living with her and she arrives in town with both guns blazing. Although normally shy around handsome men, she does not hesitate to give Tobin a piece of her mind and their interactions are so antagonistic that Miz G orders them to stay away from one another. Jade is rather antsy since her grandmother has a busy social calendar which leaves Jade with a little too much free time on her hands. When her path keeps crossing with Tobin, she starts to wonder if she might have misjudged him but at the same time, Jade is not sure she can fully trust him.

The relationship between Jade and Tobin is certainly rocky in the beginning but since they are living under the same room, there is ample opportunity for them to get to know each other. Tobin is open and honest about his distant relationship with his brothers and father. Jade is equally forthcoming about her dissatisfaction with her struggle to find a job in her career field and her struggles with anxiety. Underlying all of their conversations is a sizzling hot sexual tension that eventually becomes impossible to resist. Trying to keep their unexpected romance a secret from Jade’s grandmother presents some fairly frustrating moments for them but this extended foreplay just makes their desire for each other burn hotter. With very little angst or drama, Jade and Tobin begin to fall for each other but how will Miz G react to the news they are now a couple?

Hang Tough is a captivating romance that old and new fans of Lorelei James’ Blacktop Cowboys series are going to love. Tobin and Jade are well-developed and appealing characters who are tailor-made for one another. Their relationship is a wonderful blend of tender conversations and scorching hot sex scenes. The antics of Miz G and her group of friends are outrageous and laugh out loud funny. It is an all around fabulous, fun and sexy novel that readers of contemporary western romances are sure to enjoy.

I believe I say this every time I read one of her books, but… I LOVE Lorelei James. Everything she writes is simply amazing, and the Blacktop Cowboys series has become a staple in my must read pile. So when I was given the opportunity to read and review Hang Tough, obviously I jumped at the chance!

Tobin is front and center in Hang Tough, taking on the lead role of the spotlighted cowboy. He is tough and stubborn, but his southern charm and sweet demeanor makes him absolutely spectacular. In walks Jade, a spitfire of a woman who is determined to kick him like a bad habit out of her grandmother’s house, and turns his world absolutely upside down.

The chemistry that Tobin and Jade have is unmistakably steamy, and their romance is a sweet, erotic and all around fun time. Ms. James’ descriptive writing skills paint every moment our characters share like an artistic masterpiece, and the setting of the story adds a certain amount of charm to the situation as a whole.

If you haven’t jumped on board with the Blacktop Cowboys, this book alone is more than enough reason to get to reading!

***I read and reviewed a paperback copy of the book gifted to the blog in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***

HANG TOUGH is the eighth full-length installment in Lorelei James’s contemporary, adult BLACKTOP COWBOYS erotic, romance series. This is ranch hand Tobin Hale, and Jade Evans’s story line. HANG TOUGH can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Jade and Tobin) HANG TOUGH follows Tobin Hale ( a Blacktop Cowboys series regular) as he comes to the rescue of eighty something granny Garnet Evans. Garnet claims that her ‘absent’ son is trying to take away her freedom following a series of questionable events in her life. Tobin being the shy, sweet natured single, young man he is, offers to move in with Garnet to protect her from what may be coming her way. Enter Jade Evans-Garnet’s only grandchild-and the woman with whom Tobin will fall in love.

Jade Evans loves her grandmother but believes her father is wrong trying to control her grandmother’s life. Meeting her grandmother’s live-in companion Tobin Hale, finds our heroine on both the defensive and offensive when it comes to her grandmother’s protection. What ensues is the building relationship between Tobin and Jade-a relationship that is rooted in family and love.

HANG TOUGH brings together the local Mud Lillies (Pearl, Maybelle, Vivien,Tilda and Bernice)-a tight knit group of elderly ladies who work behind the scenes -aka meddling- ensuring love (among other things) has a chance to grow. Tobin’s long suffering brother Streeter Hale is hoping for another start; and brother Driscoll has chosen sides. Larissa ‘Riss’ takes Jade under her wing as our heroine needs to let loose with the girls. Several of the Split Rock Ranch employees and former story line couples make cameo appearances as well.

HANG TOUGH is a sweet and sexy story about two people brought together by family and love. The premise is entertaining-the story line flows easy; the romance is seductive and erotic-there is plenty of sexual tension between our leading couple; the characters are energetic and fun. HANG TOUGH and the Blacktop Cowboys series will make you want a cowboy of your own.

Tobin's story was long overdue. But then again, it was probably necessary for him to wait until now. If you have read the Blacktop Cowboys series before, you know that Tobin is the guy everyone relys on and who's always around and helping where he can. You also know that the Mud Lilies play a special role in the lifes of the characters in this series.

So it's not really surprising that Miz G reaches out to Tobin to help her with a family issue. Even with all the conflicting emotions and hard decisions he has to make, he's not the one to turn down and help her. What he didn't was expecting was his reaction to her granddaughter Jade. Never heard of her before and pretty sure she's just the messenger for her father's wishes, the spark between them is not only one of heat and instant attraction.

When you know Miz G and her Mud Lilies you know you are always in for a treat and mischief and it's no different in Hang Tough. That's what gave lots of giggles and also some WHOA moments. They are very protective of those they love, but how much can be too much?

I loved everything about this book. Every book is different from what the main characters go through and I love that Tobin's and Jade's is a little less dramatic than some others. These two are on the hunt to find themselves and what they want in life.
Lorelei James writes so easily and flowing and heartwarming you are captured from the first til the last word. I hope we get more books in this series, because I'm not ready to let go the gang from Muddy Gap.

PS: I love how we get to see the other characters from the series books and little glimpses of what is going on. The Split Rock definitely is a very fertile place. lol

Hang Tough, Book 8 in the Blacktop Cowboys series was an enjoyable, comfortable read! Returning to Muddy Gap and the Split Rock Ranch is like going home for a visit for me. In this novel, it's nice guy Tobin Hale's turn to find happiness, and find it he does! Tobin has always been one of my favorite supporting characters in this series. He's gorgeous, brilliant, sexy and too nice for his own good, which has always landed him squarely in the friend zone by every woman he meets. Getting to know him better, the real, strong sexy Tobin was an outright pleasure. He finds his match in Jade, granddaughter of Garnet, everyone's favorite Mud Lily. Beautiful, smart, talented city girl Jade, who is at a loose end in her own life, and not handling it well due her type A personality. This could have have been a predictable, formula romance, but no, not from Lorelei James. The dialogue is witty, sometimes down right hilarious! Tobin's friendship and true care of Garnet is touching and real. His and Jade's protective attitude toward Garnet was an integral part of this story, which touched deeply on modern society's throwaway, or should I say shut away dealings with our nation's seniors. Like most good books, they make you think. So in addition to a sizzling hot, sweet loving romance, Ms. James has made a strong statement about how we should be respecting our elders, their independence, their identities, their happiness and trying to help retain those things that make them happy. No matter how inconvenient it may be in our own busy lives. This was a wonderful book, with engaging characters, humor, sex, romance, and most all love.

In this latest addition to the Blacktop Cowboys series, we get up close and personal with Tobin Hale, a cowboy who is ready to find his forever girl, and, considering his close attachment to the Mud Lilies, it’s unsurprising that Tobin’s favorite Lily, Garnet, holds the key to his happiness....

Jade Evans has ventured to Muddy Gap under the impression that her grandmother, Garnet, is being conned by a young cowboy who has somehow managed to convince her grandmother to let him move into her home. Tobin believes Jade is there to move Garnet into a nursing facility. Irritation and aggravation quickly lead to attraction and simmering passion as Jade and Tobin both realize that maybe they aren’t meant to be enemies after all. And, for anyone who has read this series before, you know that if one or more of the Mud Lilies is involved, there’s bound to be a bit of chaos and more than a little mischief going on.

Hang Tough is low on angst, high on entertainment, and definitely worth a read.

Lorelei James hit my radar when I stumbled upon her western erotic epic saga, The Rough Riders. This lady is seriously awesome and what she writes turns to gold, not to mention cranks up the heat to a seriously scorching degree!

So when she started her Blacktop Cowboys series, I of course was on board and predictably was in love. Well the latest in Lorelei James’ sizzling series … Blacktop Cowboys was a fantastic read! I was hooked from page 1! Tobin takes the cake as far as I am concerned. He is such a gentleman and so sweet but when he decides not to be … well Jade is one lucky lady for sure. lol

All sexiness aside this story was a great read and highly entertaining. The Mud Lilies were perfect and their antics had me rolling with laughter. Poor Tobin is so patient and just goes with it and that was also hilarious. I think the pot plants and lie detector nearly did me in! I just loved these ladies. I was also very excited that we get to revisit previous characters and get a peek into their lives. Oh the shenanigans!

So while Lorelei always nails the sexy and sizzle, she also crafts stories that suck you in and keep you hooked. The worlds she creates feel so real and as a reader you can see them playing out in your heads. The characters come alive! Hang Tough was just the latest example. This book had just about everything that I was looking for. I was not disappointed. Tobin will probably go down as one of my favorite characters in this series because he was just so sweet! Although not when he chose but even during those times… he is a good guy and it was nice to see the good guy get the great story!

I received an ARC of Hang Tough for my honest review and my words are my own. This was a great story and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a spicy, erotic romance with humor, fun and crazy ass shenanigans!

It is no secret that Lorelei James is my favorite author of all time. I fell in love with her writing in the Rough Riders series, and the Blacktop Cowboys series just confirmed that she will always be number one to me!!! I absolutely loved Jade and Tobin’s story in Hang Tough. Jade’s character was very deep and easy to relate to. Tobin was that sexy cowboy we all love to love. I connected with them both, and the story line kept me up all night, because I just couldn’t put this book down!!!

Of course you know I am going to tell you, YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!! You NEED to read ALL of Lorelei’s books. There isn’t a single one that will not leave you breathless. If you haven’t read these yet, than stop what you are doing right now, and get on it….I mean right now. Stop reading this review and GO GET ON IT!!!!

James never fails to provide steamy reads in her Black Top series. Every installment in this series is searingly hot. Most importantly, it never lacks a good storyline and always filled with humor and good romance.

We finally get Tobin who was suppose to leave town looking for a new job. But after a plea from his favorite Mud Lilly, Garnet, he could not refuse but help out. The plan is to stay to protect her from her family who wants to send her away. With her granddaughter now in the picture, his plans are burned to smithereens since finding out her intentions are real and he can’t seem to stop wanting to be with her.

Jade can’t believe some stranger is living in her grandmother’s house. Her intentions are to find out exactly what is going on which she does and realizing James is not the money thieving con she thought he was. In fact, he’s as genuine as they come and she can’t seem to resist him.

Though this is not my favorite of the series, I enjoyed it just the same. I thought the story was on the lighter end but it’s sexy as hell. I love Tobin and his gentlemanly persona. I thought he was sexy and the sweetest guy. James is really good when it comes to creating characters that are drool worthy. Good job Ms. James! I’m not sure what’s next, but I’m excited to get more of this series.

One thing I've always enjoyed about Lorelei James' books is the detail that the secondary characters get. They aren't just in the background making noise and filling gaps. In this book we get to know quiet Tobin, who up until now has been the go-to man, the reliable friend, the quiet nice one. And we're introduced to Jade. More importantly (well, to me), we get a glimpse further inside the Mud Lilies. If you haven't read the rest of the books in the Blacktop Cowboys series, turn around and do it now! These ladies are the epitomy of what we want to be when we grow up! Life is not dull when they are around.

The "forbidden" romance that blooms in this book is both sweet and hot. I'm so glad that Tobin got his HEA. Another book to put on my shelf that I can happily pull out on a rainy day and read for a warm happy feeling. You won't be disappointed!

Tobin finally gets his book! Tobin has been around for most of this series. He's seen as the kid of the group - the Boy Scout, the good guy. He's tired of that image and ready to use his college degree and move away from Muddy Gap and find a new life. Until one of the Mud Lilies, Miz G, begs him to move in for a few weeks and keep her son from sending her away to a retirement home. Then, her granddaughter, Jade, shows up to spy for daddy. Tobin and Jade do not hit it off, but their banter is fun to read. You can imagine what happens from there.

A really good installment to this series and we meet some characters that I hope get their own book in the future. The chemistry between Tobin and Jade is hot, but it has a nice buildup and you believe in the story and the romance. Tobin reminds me in some ways of Trevor from the Rough Rider series - especially when we meet Tobin's family.

One thing I am really loving about some of Lorelei's latest books is that our H/h may face tough choices and decisions, but there's no rash breakup and quick get back together at the end. She writes conflict in a realistic way and it lends itself to the story and ending being more believable. I love her writing so much and recommend this book to anyone looking to read a good romance.

Many thanks to the author for a complimentary copy of this book.

Another Win for LJ in the Black Top Cowboy Series.

If you have read any of the Black Top Cowboy Series, then you have already met Tobin and most likely like me was ready for his HEA. Ready for him to find his other half. If you are new to the BTC Series then don't worry you will just be rooting for him from page 1.

This story is a opposite attract, slow but explosive HEA. One ready to move out of the small town USA for bigger and better things, and one moving to the small town USA ready to escape the big city, colliding together to find love and happiness.

Tobin has always been such a sweet character through out this series and I think Jade is a perfect match for him.

You will not be disappointed in this book. If you like sweet smoking hot cowboys then this one is for you.

Lorelei does it again! Hang Tough was an excellent story. Tobin and Jade are fabulous characters. Jade is a sweet and shy violinist and book worm that has grown up in NY City and Tobin is a good ole country boy that always gets friend zoned because he's the nice guy. Not this time though. When Tobin meets Jade, friends is definitely not what he's thinking and when he turns on the heat Jade doesn't have a chance in hell at refusing. There are just enough twists in the plot to keep the reader engaged from the first page and the chemistry between Jade and Tobin is enough to make you need an ice pack!

The plot was brilliant and the writing was flawless. I absolutely loved the secondary characters and it was great to visit with some past characters to see how they were doing.

Definite must read!!

OMG I loved this book, this entire series is amazing but seeing GG at her finest was amazing. Tobin and Jade are both determined to do what is best for Garnet but neither is sure if they are working to the same goals. While trying their best to send the other one packing they are also fighting the connection that is running ramped between them. When you add in the meddling of the Mud Lillies, who knows who will win and who will lose.
God I love Lorelei James and the amazing worlds that she gives us. There is nothing better than a yummy alpha cowboy and man does she know how to deliver. This book can be read as a standalone but once you read it and she how amazing LJ’s writing is you will happily buy them all. She will not disappoint and honestly I do not think she could write a bad book if she tried.

Tobin Hale is the sweet, shy cowboy who is looking to make a change in his life; he is ready for more than just being a cowboy he wants to use his degree for more. But when his favorite Mud Lilly is looking to get the boot from her home into a retirement home he decides to move in with her to stop anyone from making her move.

Jade is working multiple jobs and no of them is what she wants, so when her Dad asks her to go spend time with her Grandmother in Wyoming for a month to make sure she is well enough to live alone Jade decides the time will give her a break and let her figure out what she really wants. But when she runs into the strong, sexy, charming, too sweet for his own good cowboy that is protecting her Grandmother things get hot, sticky and make them both wonder if this is the change they were both looking for.

Been looking forward to Tobin’s story, he was always there to help everyone and it was good to get his story. Sweet, sexy, charming, and funny and the Mud Lilies keep it lively. What a great addition to the Blacktop Cowboy Series, would have liked to hear more about the rest of the crew, but this was another great hit by Ms. James.

While on family vacation, I was lucky enough to MEET Lorelei for coffee one morning. She brought some swag for me and Hang Tough advanced copy, two months early! Meeting her made me love and respect her writings even more.
I was so appreciative. I went home reread a few to get back in the groove and I inhaled Tobin and Jade.
I laughed SO MANY times. I clutched my heart in awe. This is our ose to mudlilies, which I loved getting more crazy from them.
But this is your NONTYPICAL nice guy romance. Tobin is our nice guy finishes last, but watch out, behind closed doors he's our LJ hero we all love.
When I finished this book, I hugged it for a moment. It messed me up in the best way.

Another great read by Mrs. James!!! I have never laughed so loud reading this book with the Mud Lillies being so mischievous. It is beautifully written and you can picture the scenes in your mind. I hope I have friends like that at retirement age. Anyway, this story is a love story about Tobin and Jade. I loved them together they were like day and night at first. That was their way of hiding the secret attraction they felt. We get to meet Tobin's brother Streeter and daughter Olivia and they made my heart hurt.(would love a book on him) You would not be disappointed in this book it proves that good guys do make out at the end. Loved it and can't wait for the next book. It is a stand alone

First off, I ❤️ Lorelei James and have all her incredible books! I couldn't imagine that she could ever top her, "Rough Riders series 1-16. I figured out quickly, I loved COWBOYS! Ms. James has blown me away again with her, "Blacktop Cowboys series!" Reading the first 7 books is not required but why wouldn't you? That's how you find out who everyone is. You will meet, the "Mud Lilies," and in book 8, "Hang Tough," we find out good ol' cowboys finally do find their happiness. Tobin and Jade, don't hit it off in the beginning: but eventually they figure things out. "Hang Tough," is another book that can't put down book! Lorelei James won't let you down with any of her books!

Another great romance from the queen of romance, Lorelei James has done it again!

I've been waiting for Tobin's story and boy, was I not disappointed. I enjoyed how Tobin and Jade came together and you will too. They both have issues and irritate one another...until they don't (wink wink!) The pacing of the story is light, super sexy, and fits within James' universe extremely well. Eagerly awaiting the next development in this series, I think fans of James' past work will love this book...and honestly, this book can easily be read as a standalone. But be prepared, you will want to read the previous ones after reading this great story! :)

Tobin Hale is a sweet talking cowboy that is always placed in the "friend" zone. He is smart, sexy, loyal and can dirty talk with the best of them, but he is unhappy with his job and just lonely since most of his friends have found their soulmates in the last couple of years until Jade steps into his life.

Jade is stuck in a rut with a graduate degree that is unemployable and living at home working 3 jobs. A change of scenery is in order and her grandma seems to need a little supervision in Wyoming since she keeps getting herself into some binds.

Jade and Tobin find themselves both under the same roof of Grandma Garnet's house. Tobin thinking Jade is there to ship Garnet off to the "old folks home" and Jade thinking Tobin is swindling her grandma out of a fortune.

Sparks immediately fly when both try to defend themselves and Grandma at the same time. Garnet sets rules of no contact between the two of them but neither one of them seem to be able to keep that rule since they find themselves drawn to each other and eventually all over each other.

Sneaking around makes for funny situations of trying not to get caught and avoiding prying eyes is always entertaining. Jade and Tobin are so honest with each other even when both of their lives seem unsettled. They have found a forever kind of love and have to figure out how to break it to Garnet.

Book Excerpt:
Tobin slipped his arm beneath her and rolled until he was on top, with her arms pinned above her head. "O'kay, we'll do this a different way. I've waited a long damn time for you to come into my life. And it would make my **** ***** and fill my chest with macho pride if every time I looked at you, I knew I was the guy you trusted to be everything you need. Not give. Not buy. Be. That's what I consider taking care of you."

Jade snared his mouth in a hungry kiss. "Be what I need right now, Tobin. Take me to that place where it's just us."

"I am so lost in you."

James gives us just enough naughty to go along with the sweet while giving us belly laughs and AHHH moments.

Lorelei James has done an amazing job of sharing the beautiful love story of Tobin & Jade and she in no shape and r form did she disappoint!!!!!!
I've been such a big fan of Lorelei's Blacktop Cowboys series and seen Tobin appear in previous books, he most definitely needed his own story, and to finally read his story was everything I expected if not more!!
The chemistry, love/hate relationship in the beginning between Tobin & Jade drew you in right from the start a real page turner.
Due to Lorelei's amazing story telling we were able to watch their relationship develop and progress to the next stage, and how they doubt with other major factors in their lives i.e. family, work and lets not forget Jade's amazing, loving but also conniving grandma and her group of misfit friends, they had me in hysterics.
Thanks again Lorelei James, it was an absolute pleasure reading their AMZING love story, I can't wait till the next instalment for this series.

I'm slowly finding my love for cowboy romance and I thought this one sounded promising. One hot cowboy meets a girl from the city? Sounds perfect! So you know the synopsis, right? well enter feisty Jade who was under the impression that Tobin is taking advantage of her dear sweat grandmother, well not on her watch! Meanwhile Tobin thinks Garnet is being misunderstood by her family, namely her son. And from the minute Tobin and Jade meet you can tell that that spark that makes a really good romance story is there between them. As they get to spend time together their relationship evolves but is Jade just distracting Tobin? Wonderful romance and Tobin, the sexy cowboy that he is will have you wanting to move out to the country! I am not an avid fan of cowboy romances!

I just love the Blacktop Cowboys series & what a sweet story!
Tobin, the nice guy, Boy Scout type guy meets Jade, the shy nerdy type girl, but also Garnet's granddaughter & sparks fly. Everybody in Muddy Gap already loves Tobin & since Jade (despite her ethic background) is Garnet's granddaughter, she is excepted right away by the community. I loved seeing how both Tobin & Jade worked through their insecurities together. I even suspected who was behind the two of them hooking up!! Such a sweet love story along with some smoking hot scenes! I could not put in down.

Another wonderful book by Lorelei James. The Blacktop Cowboy series just keeps getting better. I have enjoyed Tobin in previous books and I was looking forward to his story. He and Jade were great together. I loved how they started out and how their relationship grew.Jade was an awesome addition to the ladies of the Blacktop Cowboys. Garnet was a hoot. I loved her and the Mud Lilies. I would love to see more of them in future books. I thought Streeter was very interesting. My heart broke for him and his daughter. I hope there is a HEA in store for him.

Tobin, sometimes has to be the semi-responsible one in the relationship, “because your grandma will be up here at any moment. I’d rather not get caught grinding on you with my tongue in your mouth.” I really loved Jade, the girl was snarky, and when she was drunk, entertaining as hell, "he grinned and shed his pants. Jade’s eyes zeroed in on his ***k. Her mouth dropped open and the condom fell out. “Tobin. Is that what women mean when they say, ‘He’s hung like a horse’?” I loved this book from start to finish

When you are a loose ends sometimes it takes another loose end to tie up your life- and maybe a little sly intervention.

Tobin Hale is one of my favorite characters from the Black Top Cowboys series from Lorelei James. Hang Tough is the 8th book in the series, and while it can stand-alone, I highly recommend starting at the beginning of the series (Corralled) to meet all the wonderful characters who share Tobin's world.

Tobin is always ready, willing, and able to do whatever work his boss or his friends need him to do, but in doing that he has let his dreams take a back seat. When he gets the opportunity to make his dreams come true he will have to leave his friends behind, but a spunky local grandma-Garnet- has other plans for him.

Jade Evans hasn't figured out how to turn her passions into a career and she is doing everything but what she loves to keep herself busy. When her father asks her to visit her grandma to make sure she can still live on her own in Wyoming she dutifully goes. Jade expectations for her grandma to be on her own are dashed when she meets Tobin, who is staying with Garnet to make sure no one moves her out of her home.

Through a series of twists and turns these two loose ends get all tied up in knots that are oh so fun to get tangled up in.

Lorelei James writes characters that are engaging and entertaining. She continues to give us glimpses of favorite characters from earlier books while keeping us wanting more of new characters. I am already wondering who the next Black Top Cowboy is going to be!

I have been waiting for the next installment of the Blacktop Cowboys series. I am happy for Tobin and Jade finding each other but I did find the beginning of the book hard to get into. Jade wasn't happy she had to go to 'rescue' her grandma and Tobin felt he was being kept from making that big change in his life he felt he needed. Once they got together I felt more invested in the story. This was not my favorite Mud Lillies portrayal. I love the old birds but Garnett came off as harsh - not lovable - most of the time and once in a while I didn't care for her. Jade and Tobin both had issues with their jobs and seeing the struggles Tobin had with his job at the ranch was heart breaking- probably because we know the other guys got to get the girl and keep their jobs. In the end I enjoyed Tobin and Jade's story. I am glad they found each other and got their HEA.
Lorelei James fans should not feel disappointed in this installment. You won't be left hanging - but you will be wanting the next story ASAP.

In the Blacktop Cowboy world Tobin is the resident good guy. The designated driver, peacekeeper, ranch hand and witness to whatever shenanigans were going on. After watching all his buddies pair up and start making babies, he's feeling stuck and decides to move on from this tight knit community that adores him.
When one of his Mud Lily buddies is in distress, Tobin steps up, like he always does, to lend a hand. What he didn't anticipate was having her beautiful and feisty granddaughter show up and complicate his living situation.
This is a lighthearted story that's low on angst and high on fun. It's best enjoyed after you've read the other books in the series so you're really anchored in this world.

So, the good guy does not always finish last. On this case, the good guy gets exactly what he wants and needs. Tobin is always the good guy, and doing more for others, instead of helping himself. I really like him. Also, I really like Jade, who also deserves some happiness. Then, then are the Mud Lilies, a group of older women that are out to have a lot of fun, and even some trouble at times. As usual, Lorelei James has written a wonderful story that will have you laughing out loud at times, and is so romantic at other times. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced copy, and I loved it.

I have always loved Lorelei's books and Hang Tough did not disappoint. Tobin has been a staple character in the BTC series and I was so happy to see him finally get he girl. The interactions between Tobin and Jade we so funny and sweet. I loved watching their relationship bloom. Garnet and the rest of the Mud Lilies were hilarious, as always!

Hang Tough is a good addition to the series. Although it did take me a while to get into the book. Both Rissa and Tobin seemed to be at a standstill in life. They both seemed to struggle with their careers and relationships.
It wasn't until this pair was forced to be together that life click for them. They had a reason to work together.

Her Granny and the Mud Lilies are as involved in this story as Rissa and Tobin. Their methods are a little off but they mean well.

I received an ARC for a honest review.

That cover!! Sighhhh

Hang Tough is a light, sweet, fun enemies to lovers read.

Tobin and Jade both move into Garnet Evans (one of the Mud Lillies) house to protect her from each other. Soon their attraction cannot be withheld and the two are sneaking around.

If you are a follower of this series, you will be pleased that the Mud Lillies are up to more shenanigans!

There is no epilogue so I really hope to hear about these two in future installments.

Tobin and Jade are just my favorite couple ever. He is such a good guy, helping out Garnet, one of the Mud Lily's . Jade, her granddaughter, is just a sweetie. This book was a great romp and I am so sad that it is over. I can't wait for the next on in this series.

Tobin and Jade are sweet, sassy, and a little bit unsure about themselves and where they fit in. They totally fit together!!! The Mudlillies are at an all time high in the "helping" category and things get a little out of hand. Tobin brings it all back around and the two figure out they really belong together. The sweetness and tartness of this duo keeps you laughing all the way through the book. Lorelei does a great job bringing these two special people together.

I just absolutely loved Tobin and Jade, I think they were just perfect for one another. I always love Lorelei's books and this one I am pretty sure has made it to the top of my favorites by her. There is not a lot of angst or drama, it has the perfect mix of sweet and hot. I really loved how honest and open both Jade and Tobin were, it's really refreshing to read a book that doesn't have much drama and is real easy going. I can't wait for more.

Tobin is tired of watching everyone settle down. Jade is sick and tired of her life. GG Garnet needs their help. They band together to look out for GG's best interest. Everything is not what it seems though. Maybe, they need more help than GG. Muddy Gap gang, from James' other Blacktop Cowboys books, is part of Tobin's and Jade's love story. Feels good to see a good guy and gal win their hearts' desires for once.

Hang Tough is the latest book of the Blacktop Cowboy series and it is as good as all those that came before it.

We finally get to delve deeper in Boy scout Tobin Hale when he moves in with his favourite Mud Lilly Garner Evans, who he believes. Is being exploited by her distant son. Garnet's granddaughter Jade moves in to make sure this gigolo is not squandering away her grandmother's life savings.

This story makes you look beneath the surface to see the true characters because all is not what it appears. A brilliant read from start to finish.

Hang Tough was an excellent romance!! A must read!!..Tobin finally gets his HEA with Jade and a little scheming from the Mudd Lillies. When Tobin meets Jade he turnes on the heat, Jade doesn't stand a chance of not falling for the sexy hot protective cowboy. The writing is flawless, the story is sweet, sexy, romantic and funny. I absolutely loved reading and catching up on the previous characters. This is again a Must Read!!

This book draws you in with its funny, sweet, charming hero, Tobin. He is a dream and Jade is his nightmare (well at least at the beginning). With humor, irritation and a whole lot of sexy Ms. James makes you want to take off for the wild west for a little bit of that wild ride she takes you on. Isn't it ironic that just when you're ready to move on that perfect someone appears on your doorstep?

I will admit that although I love Lorelei James and all her novels I did not connect as well with this story. I enjoyed the initial banter between Tobin and Jade and loved Garnet and her friends. I felt it was a sweet love story but missed the background characters that some of the other Blacktop Cowboy Novel's have. Overall it was an enjoyable read and goes along well with the series. I can not wait for the next book.

After hanging out for tobins story for the last few years, this was definetly worth the wait! I have always wondered what lay beneath the 'good guy' image he always presented, and he is a firecracker in disguise. Jade is also a fiesty one, worthy of being garnets grand daughter, and deserving of her happy ending, although she has to work for it ;)

Tobin... What can I say about Tobin? Sigh... The man we all dream of. He's a genuine good guy. Funny, loyal, loving, kind & would do anything for a friend! Which is quite the opposite kind of man Julie meets when she comes to stay with GG, to make sure her zany grandmother is on living in her own. They instantly rile each other up. GG is forced to separate them, but does it last?

I loved this book, it's another great addition to the already awesome Blacktop Cowboy series.........Ms James does not disappoint. I absolutely love these characters and their many layers. I love LJ's details of characters...even secondary characters have great additions to the plot. The setting never gets old. I absolutely loved the story and I could not put it down. Hopefully we get a glimpse of Tobin and Jade in future books. I would definitely be interested in reading Skeeter's story! Gotta love those Mud Lillies... lots of LOL moments. The only problem that I had with the book (and it might not even be a problem to some) was the ending, it felt a little rushed to me. However LJ never disappoints- 5 stars!

Tobin and Jade have a great dislike to love story. But lets be honest while the hot cowboys and their leading ladies are the main focus of the Blacktop Cowboys the stars of the show are the Mud Lillies. I definitely recommend this book. Also while it is part of a series it can be read as a stand alone.
