Skyborn (Dragons and Druids Book 1)

The heroine says funny things, which makes this book worth reading. If not for that “saving grace,” it would just be a rather standard paranormal romance (i.e., at age 20, the heroine abruptly discovers she is a Dragon Shifter and the world is depending on her, meets a hunky male dragon and his friends and basically runs away from them a lot because she feels frightened and overwhelmed).

Perhaps the next book will have more character development, pacing, and not end on a cliffhanger. One can only hope.

This introductory novel starts off in the middle of a battle. Sloane has the worst luck. Broke, living in her car, starving artist is supposed to be a joke not a reality. And then the Grand Canyon happens. One moment she's plummeting to her death and the next she's having a psychotic break. Because there's no way she's really a dragon, right? Rescued by a pack of shifters and a male dragon, things should be looking up. But then that other shoe drops. Turns out she's a hybrid. Comming to turns with scales, magic and breathing fire is a downright cakewalk compared to the other half of her DNA.

I'm not a fan of the "runaway heroine". I understand the mindset it's just doesn't do much for me as a reader. That said, Sloane has potential. She has a great sense of humor and spunk, she just does a great impression of an ostrich for far too long in this book. I like the world building and backstory. Leia Stone always does an excellent job there. I'm just hoping that Sloane grows more of a backbone in book 2. With everything else going on in the book I will definitely look for the next.

Just finished this book. It’s a good read. Loved the character development. Loved the dragon shifting and how Stone made it seem fresh. Loved the camaraderie. Ready to download the second in the series. One thing which kept it from a fifth star for me was the abundance of teenaged angst, even though the character was 21 years old. Seemed a little contrived, but not enough to stop reading. I appreciate the fact that Stone has these books listed on Kindle Unlimited. Thanks for that.

I love this authors writing style, you really connect with the characters and there is always humor no matter how dire the situation. Sloane falls from the cliffs of the Grand Canyon but instead of falling to her death she turns into a dragon for the first time and now she has some druids after her...and they almost get her too but as luck has it she is saved by another dragon and his shifter protectors and things get more interesting from there! Can't wait to read the next book as well as the Logan prequel!!

A brilliant book and talented author! I absolutely loved reading this book and love these characters! Stone has a way of bringing readers into her books and never letting them go until the last page...then it’s on to her next book!
This is a fast paced and highly addictive read! If you’re in want of a fantastic new series, great characters and a book that will keep you intrigued, I highly recommend picking this series up, you won’t be disappointed!

This book is cute.  Despite having some serious action, it isn't super heavy and bogged down by teenage angst. The relationship between Logan and Sloane isn't insta-love and grows at a steady pace. The characters blend together well and are decently built. I really enjoy Leia Stone and I am a big fan of the Ash Trilogy. I enjoyed the plot and even though I could see the ending a mile a way, I enjoyed it anyway. All in all this is just fun to read and I am waiting on the next book to come out.

I had a hard time finishing this book, I seriously do NOT understand all the 4 and 5 star reviews. The main character is one of those characters you want to strangle. She is constantly making immature choices, says she needs to stop running...then runs, says she shouldn't be doing this then DOES it (UGH). So predictable with a unlikable main character. If you are into sappy teen (even though she is 21) drama/love then you will definitely like this book. Will not be continuing the series.

Holy wow!!! This was absolutely fantastic! It amazes me the way Leia's mind works and how these amazing stories pour from her mind into the page. Dragons...never would have thought they would interest me but I'm hooked. Druids, shifters and sorcerers...oh my! This story grabs you from the beginning and you are sucked into this world. Each page drops more hints into the fantastic story that's unfolding. It has action, intrigue, lust and passion. I want more. I need more. Like right now!!

Very good novel. The whole series is worthwhile. Definitely didn't know where this was going. Liked the characters.

It is interesting that though she is a dragon, she almost never changes form in the books. It isn't bad in that way, just kind of interesting.

I also do want to comment on the editing of the grammar. There is a distinct problem with pronouns used as an object with a conjunction. (Mary and I). Apparently the author and any editors do not understand that 'Mary and me' is used when it could be replaced by 'us'.

After a few fantasy flops, I stumbled upon this series and WOW, I am impressed. It’s a lot to wrap your mind around, with the alliances, enemies, and awesome powers. However, it is a very well-written and interesting story. Not only do i like the characters, but they’re relatable. For example, Sloane’s reaction to all of them major changes in her life? Totally believable. Immediately starting the next one!!

Sloane takes a trip to the grand canyon and falls, then turns into a dragon. Now she's freaking out because people keep hunting her down to kill her. While being attacked, a group of animals show up with one guy and help her. After, she finds out that their all shifters and the guy is a dragon. This book is, Sloane finding out what she really is and fighting off the hunters that want her and Logan, the last dragons, dead.

I’m a sucker for shifter stories, and those about dragons have been hard to come by. Leia has been a favorite author of mine for some time now and it’s easy to see why if you read this book! Dragons, druids, sorcerers, and a plan to stop a world takeover! What else could a girl want? Oh yeah, a sizzling hot romance?! While the fire is just getting kindled between Logan and Sloane, it’s definitely full steam ahead for these two! And yes, all the puns intended!

Ever since I read the Matefinder series I've been a fan of Leia Stone's work. She has become one of the few authors whose stories I will click "buy now" before even reading what the story is about because I know it will be well written, entertaining, funny, and a great story. I really enjoyed Skyborn! I like dragon shifter stories, and I really like the characters in this series. There were some things I could see coming - no spoilers here! - but it didn't take away from the story at all. The thing I like about Leia Stone's characters is that I get invested in them, and care about their journey. It's always hard to wait for the next book!

I felt like I was going through everything right along with Sloane, I loved all the main characters in the book, and the action and unexpected twists kept me glued to the book. I’m absolutely dying to find out what happens next!

Ah the cliffhanger, has me on edge awaiting the next book. Leia is an amazing author and I've read everything she has written. I suggest you do the same! I really enjoyed this book! It combines different types of supernatural characters and I feel that most books focus on only one type of supernatural. Great storyline. I just wish it was longer...or that book two was out already!

Such an amazing book! The storyline is fresh and new. Character develop lacks nothing. You can't help but love all the characters. I was completely engrossed the second I started reading it. Highly recommended.

Couldn't put it down! I love dragon shifter books and this is easily one of my favorites. Even with an insane work schedule I found myself sneaking reads here and there because I simply could not wait to finish it. Now begins the dreaded, unbearable wait for the next installment because I need to know what happens next!

I was hooked from the first paragraph. I couldn't stop reading, and now that I'm done I want more. I feel like this book has a different feel from Leia's other books, but O man just like all her books you get sucked into this exciting new world. Dragons, protectors, sorcerers, it a big eclectic group that you will love.
