There is no doubt about it, Mike McCrary can write a fun book. This book was packed with action, violence, and tons of sarcastic humor. There were a ton of one-liners that made me laugh out loud. There was also a lot of fast paced action that kept me on my toes. This is everything I look for in a book.

You have the whiny lawyer, Remo, that put away the Mashburn brothers. Not only did he botch the case and get them sent to prison, he stole their money. Well, they get out and come looking for that money and plan to get revenge on Remo in the meantime. The majority of the story revolves around Remo whining about how he is going to protect himself, how is ever going to meet his son that does not know his dad is alive, and how he has perfected the art of mixing Johnnie Walker Blue and Ritalin. It does come to an exciting climax, as Remo hires a professional hitman to help him protect himself against these crazy brothers.

I was very impressed with McCrary adding the realistic reaction that Remo had to shooting the heavy artillery. He did not just pick up a Mossberg and start shooting like a pro. He had complications just like any real person would when they have never shot a gun of that magnitude. So, I will say this was a fun book and I enjoyed it.

Mike McCrary is a genious. This book has it all, mystery, intrigue, action, thrills and comedy! He identifies the characters in their true form, the good guys are good and the bad guys are REALLY bad...but all in a good way! I've read the other Remo books too, and the loveable loser never fails to be entertaining at his worst! And this is a fabulous gateway to the other stories. Don't be put off by the gore and realism that is portrayed in this story, this is totally worth the read and will have you wanting more or Remo! Get the whole set!

It happened. Someone finally wrote a Grand Theft Auto novel. It's impossible to read REMO WENT ROGUE earnestly. Heck, it's impossible to read REMO WENT ROGUE with the same serious you would give to an Elmore Leonard novel. It's a whacked out novel, split between mediatized hyperreality and male insecurities. It's a lot of fun and it doesn't have anything to do with creating an emotional connection to characters. It's halfway between crime satire and paranoia.

Not that Mike McCrary can't write, mind you. REMO WENT ROGUE is a little uneven at times (it has a little of a sloppy middle where Remo doesn't do anything except mope around and think about his life), but he's got a wicked voice, a style that demands attention and that's a pleasure to read. If Mike McCrary writes his grocery lists like this, I'm sure they're a blast to read also. REMO WENT ROGUE is a fun, out of control (if a little conventional at times, content wise) crime novel that'll put a smile on your face.
Dead In The Water (The Rebecca Schwartz Series - Book 4) :: Clean Slate (Jim Knighthorse Book 4) :: Personal Justice (A Marc Kadella Legal Mystery Book 5) :: The Palace Job (Rogues of the Republic) :: The Prophecy Con (Rogues of the Republic)

It's hard to make someone with no redeeming qualities a good guy, but author Mike McCrary has the ability to do just that. If foul language, violence and nasty miserable individuals are not for you, you will be missing out on a really good book. Let's face it, fiction very often has all of the above and it depends on the author to make it the kind of book that makes it worthwhile reading. Do yourself a favor and start reading this author. I consider myself lucky enough to have found another very good one.

Remo is a hard drinking Ritalin taking defence lawyer. Mccrary writes a fast moving tale, action packed. He goes against his legal requirements for his defendants so they end up in jail.
There’s a hitman and a god finding former client, who has done nasty things in his past, who are out to save Remo from the Mashburn brothers.
All round good quick read.
Received a copy of this book from instant freebies.

A crime thriller that is action packed, fast paced and full of surprises. Lots of profanity, so if that bothers you – be forewarned. A gripping tale about a top NYC defense lawyer who double crosses his clients. The psychopathic Mashburn Brothers busted out of jail and they're coming for Remo. This book is well written but I did feel like it was a little rushed at the end. I received an advance copy from the author and voluntarily chose to review it.

Remo Cobb should have known better than to double cross two very bad criminals, especially since they were his clients. Did he actually think he was smart enough to get away with it without any repercussions? Seriously!?! That ain't gonna happen!!!! This is a wonderfully written story, that will have you wishing you could read faster. It is great! I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

As indicated in the summary, this is a quick, fun book. It's well paced as the action keeps up for the entire 200 pages. Even though the characters were a little flat and the sentence structure somewhat repetitive, I was interested in making my way to the ending. However, I was distracted by the atrocious editing of this book (kindle version). Paragraphs don't line up, some sentences end without a period, some with two periods. Additionally, the author uses word "distain" on multiple occasions when he really means "disdain". These errors strip this book of the polished feel provided by more well known crime authors.

The language in this book was unnecessarily rough. I could never recommend this book to my sisters, my mother or my daughter. If you tone down the language you would sell more books. I've never heard anyone finish a book and say, gee, I wish it was more vulgar. I gave 2 stars because the plot was interesting.

When the fourth word in the book is profanity, there isn't much hope for the rest. Still I continued hoping that there would be a story worth reading. I quit after the second chapter - the profanity continued. Story was not strong enough to stand on its own.
I received this book from one of the free book sites. I strongly recommend against buying this book.

See what some unethical people (attorneys) might or do stoup to for success $$$. See what hepppens when Remo Cobb has the devious methods he uses, come back full blast at him. Will he be able to get through this thrilling intrigue of "what goes around comes around".
Sincerely,

This is a serious book. Seriously violent, seriously brutal, and seriously fun to read. From the attention-catching opening line to the end, the action just keeps coming. Remo is in a lot of trouble and his trouble is the Mashburn Brothers -- easily some of the most horrible and entertaining villains in the history of crime fiction. Seriously, if you like well-written crime fiction where the stakes are always high, you have to pick up this book.
