I read "The Round House," and enjoyed it immensely. Possibly for that reason I was not as happy with this book. Al lot of the same characters appear, but not always in the same context, and I found the going back and forth between narrators and different erasmus extremely confusing, I might have liked it more if I hadn't read "The Round Hpose" first. I really don't think I'd buy another of Louise Erdrich book.

I ordered this book because I had wanted to read "Shadow Tag" by the same author "Louise Erdrich" but it was not available in kindle form. I was totally engrossed by her writing, now I want to read her novel "Shadow Tag" even more. I hope that it will come out in a kindle version soon.

Louise Erdrich has become one of my favorite authors. Sometimes the story slowed down but when the story takes off again it soars and you can't stop until it slows again which is many pages later and often many chapters later. Her characters are extraordinary and interesting unusual yet very real
Shadow Tag: A Novel (P.S.) :: The Painted Drum: A Novel (P.S.) :: The Birchbark House by Erdrich - Louise (1900) Hardcover :: The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse :: Infinite Crisis

Nobody does it better. She arouses rage about what this country has done, and continues to do, to our native population. And she calls forth compassion for how they live now, with never a polemic. Bless her; may she continue to be prolific with her pen.

Another w ok wonderful story with so many intriguing characters. Love d it all and highly recommend it. Our young people need to read this as so much written about Native Americans is past tense. It also captures so beautifully small Midwestern town life.

The Plague of Doves is an astounding book. Louise Erdrich weaves in thoughts that make me stop and travel within them before reading on.
You will care about the people and stay in fascination as you delve into the events of their lives.
My favorite of her books, along with her children's books, is The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse. 'The floorboards wept (while being washed) at the playing of Chopin'....
I give Erdrich's The Blue Jay's Dance to every woman I know who is having a baby. Truly beautiful and valuable.

This book is my first by Louise Erdrich. While it is not written as a thrilling murder mystery, it does greatly hold one's interest in the telling about an unsolved murder of a farm family that haunts the small, white, off-reservation town of Pluto, North Dakota. The capture and punishment by hanging of three Indians, who were wrongly accused of the crimes, interweaves with the lives of everyone connected to these long ago murders and makes for a great Native American read.

The story has captured my imagination - it's well written and holds your attention. Every so often it goes off the rails to crazy town and right back to main street where we all live day to day. So far, I'm enjoying the ride!

This is my first Louise Erdrich novel. It has been an experience!! Complicated interweaving of characters and generations--keeps the reader, at least this one, on her toes!! Looking forward to The Round House.

One of Louise Erdrich's two best epic works. Poetic fiction: pain, wonder, suffering, love and complicated, encompassing story. A writer would have to be almost out of her skin to write such a thing. Erdrich has a unique place in our nation's literature in her handling of language and presentation of American traditions.
