What can little me add to the greatest writer in history, bar none??? Read, read, read. Go to any available performance and enjoy. If this is too archaic for you, try to find a course in Shakespeare and learn to enjoy the bard.

I'm still reading and 're-reading the plays and probably will be for years. The words that Shakespeare wrote are without a doubt the most beautiful writing in the English language. And the fact that he covers every facet of human behavior adds to the what we gain from reading these words written so long ago. And, besides that, they are so enjoyable to read, and to see if you are lucky enough to catch a performance.

Will never gets old and since Shakespeare in Love and all of the films by Kenneth Branaugh he seems to be getting even better despite residing in extra deep grave with a curse as an epitaph. I'm especially partial to Henry V but Richard the 3rd gives me that Dexter root for the bad guy vibe! Try some Bill today!

William Shakespeare is not only the single greatest writer in the history of the English language, he is entertaining too. I highly recommend you read as much as you can; it will not only keep you occupied for hours at a time, but will educate you in more ways than I can list. You will be better off reading these works on the printed page than on the computer screen, but no matter the medium, do read them.

The writing is obviously fantastic, but such a large volume of writing is cumbersome to read on a Kindle. Navigating the plays and poems is a bit of a chore. In this case a book, or set of books would be better.

Shakespeare is great, but this is a horrible presentation. There are line numbers in the middle of the text from whatever it was scanned in from and it wasn't very well organized. Get them from somewhere else.

This is a review of the Kindle version of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (37 plays,..)
The top level table of contents takes you to a play, each play has a sub-table taking you to an act or scene.

While the kindle version is not the easiest to follow all the greatest works by Shakespeare I find myself coming back to it over and over again. Simply because it is the most convenient method to access these great works without having a physical library at your dispense.

I always read Shakespeare out loud. I do not know why but I do. Surely, my family thinks I'm off my rocker when I do it but how can't you want to hear the words of something so wonderful? Oh and I tend to act out the scenes of Macbeth but that will stay out little secret ?

Of course, the greatest author of all time and one of my all-time favorites. (We've been on a first-name basis for a long time now.) I am so delighted to have all of the Bard's work at my fingertips. This is a very useful and user-friendly version. If you love Shakespeare, gotta have it.

I am so happy to have an e-book copy of my favorite book of Shakespeare (it began as one of my textbooks in college, and became one of the most beloved tomes in my personal library) It is MUCH easier to carry around if I want to read sonnets on a picnic. :-)

What a joy to have all of the works of Shakespeare in one place on my Kindle in my purse! I first read them as a high school student for FUN! I wasn't a geek or nerd then either but I just liked his writings. I have the works in book form but it takes a really big purse to carry them around. So often people,, and more importantly YA students who are required to read some of the plays and sonnets, think that these ancient writings are boring. Oh no...they're not! It might be a good project to have the more popular ones especially changed to modern English, therefore making them more understandable. Maybe this has already been done, but if not if should be.

Absolutely love going back and rereading the works of this wonderful author. Love the kindel fire. My husband had bought me one cause I was spending so much timeat the hospital with our sick son. I wanted to hold the book and read. Now I wouldnt have it any other way. I absolutely love the kindel fire and its capabilities. Just wish I could afford to get my son one. He loves to read and is battling cancer. Be perfect for his stays in the hospital!

Here's my fear...and I bought this to prove a point and to use as an illustration...If we can buy the complete works of arguably the most creative, influential writer in the history of the western world for 99 cents....then ALL ART becomes virtually worthless. Picasso's collective works = 99 cents...etc. etc. With a debasing of creative genius and a worship of tech, kiss humanity as you know it good-bye...the future for the species is bleak.

Does just what I need it to for class giving me all the plays I need and allowing me to make notes as needed. Great resource for any Shakespearean Student who doesn't like marking up physical books. The print is just the right size and it is clear who is speaking at all times. As well as stage direction.

Mr Shakespear is obviously an extremely ambitious writer, but I really cannot recommend the plays. The plot-lines seem contrived and the actions of the characters arbitrary. "Hamlet", for example, is a story of a whinging young man set in Denmark (why? choosing New York would seem so much more natural). He is clearly in urgent need of a competent psychiatrist, but instead permits his egregious obsession with his mother's supposed infidelity to run out of control until the story ends in a blood-bath. So many people die violently that it would appear to be written by an advocate for sword-control. This sort of story is done so much better in present-day epics like the "Game of Thrones": Shakespear has foolishly killed off so many of his characters that there would be no possibility of a sequel.
"A Midsummer Night's Dream" is supposedly a comedy, but the laughs are few and far between. We are to supp[ose that an upper-class father would kill his daughter if she will not marry the man of his choice. No attempt is made to contact the police to bring charges against him: instead the girl runs away and we are faced with two hours of fairies and vulgar, lower-class workmen. The play becomes distinctly raunchy at times, and is quite unsuitable for impressionable children.
What is most unforgivable is the way that Mr Shakespear has peppered his work with so many cliches. We find "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" and "TO be or not to be" and " The course of true love never did run smooth" Surely he could use more imagination in the language he uses.

No main table of contents. No easy way to search for or jump to a particular play. Formatting on a Galaxy 4 looked terrible, lines were indented, skipped or separated for no reason. Also difficult to identify which character is speaking as there is no difference in font or size. Overall very poor quality.

The formatting makes this book difficult to read. For example:
- Too much space between lines
- Too few words per line when one
character
continues speech
- Line numbers corresponding to a different sequence than apparent by the text
- These very same line numbers are plugged at the end of a line like this4
So, sure, it's got Shakespeare, but ugh, the formatting makes it taxing to read on my Fire. Not worth paying for. I sure hope I got this free.

Not the worlds greatest ebook but pretty decent and has all his works with out weighing ten tons or using a rainforest to make a print copy. My son loves to read it and so do I! All in all a pretty great product.

Will's works are fantastic. My favorite tragedy is Othello. Favorite comedy is Much Ado About Nothing. I like the No Fear Shakespeare books, with original text on the right page and modern translation on the left, but it can be expensive to buy them all. I recommend just getting this and visiting one of the many online homework help sites. I recommend Schmoop.com. Very helpful. I like reading Shakespeare's works because many of his characters face the same dilemmas humans face today, and no matter how many times I've read the same play I always catch something I didn't realize the first time.

Once past the title page I was completely confused. The book was not consisting of a major part, the table of contents. I thought the format needed improvement.
If bought, make sure you do not buy the kindle edition. The real book is supposed to have the table of contents while I know for fact that their is none in the kindle edition.

This edition is not at all compatible with the original iPad 2. There are no side notes as stated in the other reviews. Perhaps this works on a true Kindle device, but The Complete Works of William Shakespeare on the Kindle for iPad is a failure. I wanted this to function so much but was very disappointed when the format was off and there were no notations.

Having read many of the reviews I am (again) very reluctant to own this edition of Shakespear. Unless it is Kindle friendly, it takes far too long to source what one wants --- reasonably efficiently. Don't get me wrong, I would love to own the whole Shakespeare collection and would be prepared to pay a lot more than the paltry (almost insulting) amount for the privelage. But give me something I can USE. Something I can fast forward, reverse, find, look-up and read at my leisure. Might I suggest the compilers get cracking, get organised, get planning and then bring out THE edition that allows Kindle users the flexibility to navigate this extraordinary man's works...with ease. Set to. Go on... get cracking!
