Thos book was the best one yet. It had me on the edge of my seat until the very end, which is what made me loose all respect for the story. I was thoroughly disappointed with the ending. It was so devastating that I can't even wrap my head around it! I wish I never read this book, it made me so sad. I would recommend reading it, but be warned ahead of time that the ending will ruin it

I liked this book but it's getting harder to read with no end in site. I love the show which turned me to the books but now waiting 6 months for next book will be rough. I started reading the series at Christmas so it has kept me busy looking forward to the next book.

This book is filled with amazing lies and stories while the master mind "A" is bringing all the secrets of these 4 girls. These girls have something bigger than themselves coming for them. This book keeps the pages turning wherever you are.

Sara Shepard does a great job as usual, keeping you hanging through the entire read and even when you think you know what's coming, you're wrong again! This is a wonderful series and a quick read because you can't put it down!

This is the thirteenth book to the Pretty Little Liar series. It explains Hanna, Mike and Noel, Aria's summer in Iceland. Aria met a boy named Olaf who she kissed and then helped him steal "The Starry Night." Mike convinces Hanna to run for prom queen, but ~A sends her a note telling her not to. Agent fuji is the investigator working on Tabitha's case and wants to meet with all four girls. Spencer finds a website about a theory that Alison is still alive and emails him and his name is Chase. They hang out for awhile and she asks him to prom. Hanna goes to the clinic and sees her ex Sean, She befriends a burn patient named Kyla Kennedy. Aria tells Noel about Olaf and he leaves. Mike gets mad at Hanna. Chase and Spencer dig into the secret about the twins. Emily works with Iris to find out what happened to Alison. Hanna goes back to the burn clinic and finds out that Kyla had been dead days before Hanna "met her." Hanna then thinks it was just Ali wrapped in bandages. ~A sends them a note telling them to go the shed. They call the police and they go with them and they find Noel's body inside beaten and bruised. But thankfully he is still alive.

{my thoughts} - This book is full of more lies and deceit between the girls. They always seem to have someone that they assume to be "A" and it always turns out that they are wrong. Some of the things they choose to do has consequences and some of the consequences are terrible. I am beginning to wonder just how brilliant of a character "A" is given the fact that they seem to be every where and know everything. It logically isn't possible for one person to be in so many different places at the same time. This series use to be enjoyable to me, but I am not so sure anymore. The end of the book leaves the readers with a bit of a bombshell that will make you say huh?

{reason for reading} - At this point I am just reading these to finish the series.

A is bAck and has never left! Rosewood, PA on the Main Line is an idyllic town that contains secrets. Deadly secrets.

Aria, Spencer, Hanna and Emily are the Pretty Little Liars who are being stalked by A, whoever A may be. A could be anyone whose been in contact with the girls.

Hanna, a candidate for Prom Queen tables her campaign to search for A. She volunteers at the same burn clinic where her first boyfriend, Sean Ackard works. She hated the burn clinic, but is willing to pony up and take responsibility. She even makes a new friend there. Somehow A finds this out. One of A's victims is in that burn clinic and will Hanna find out who A is?

Emily might find out about A. She investigates at The Preserve, the ridiculously named institution where Alison and Courtney served time. An inmate who knew Courtney somehow convinces Emily to spring her for a few days so she can allegedly lead her to A and accomplish some things on her bucket list. The inmate fits right in with the Fields family, much to Emily's chagrin. Could this be A or someone who knows who A is or are?

Spencer, the grind is dumped by Reefer, the marijuana dealer who has his own cottage industry. He has a chance to leave the country to pursue his dream and leaves her in tatters. Before long, Spencer meets a blogger who might lead her to A or who might in fact be A!

Aria, always my favorite liar has really gotten into a jam. She, her boyfriend Noel and Hanna take a trip to Iceland, where Aria had spent three years prior to returning to Rosewood. She has a yak-fur bag that acts as a security blanket. You can count on her to reach into or reach for that damn yak fur bag in every single Liars book. She'll need a lot more than a yak fur security blanket to get her out of THIS jam - Aria has been accused of an art heist!

Once back in Rosewood, the Liars all have their stalking stories to share. Casualties turn up. The missing Van Gogh somehow winds up in a Liar's closet. Did A put it there? And did any of the Liars have anything to do with that theft?

Stay tuned, folks. The story will always stay interesting. The question is will A be outed.

Wow, this is such a fAntAstic reAd. It seems that the liars have had enough of being pushed around by A, and have had enough of all of A's threats. It's time to put and end to A, and the go on the hunt for A. But as usual, you can't keep a good A down.

Spencer-Spencer has had enough. She comes up with an idea to help find out who A is, and set her plans in motion. The rest of the liars go along with her plan. She seeks outside help from someone who is familiar with what happened to Alison/Courtney and Rosewood. That being said, is every is as it seems? Is Spencer and the Lairs ready or have they bitten of more than they can chew.

Hanna-Hanna has her own plans on how to find out the true identity of A. To do that, she'll have to revisit someone from her past and do something that she really doesn't want to do. Finding out who A is, Hanna may have to pay a very big price.

Emily-Emily has meet someone who knew Ali/Courtney from way back, and is willing to answer all of Emily's questions, but with each answer that Emily gets, it comes with a price. The question is, will Emily be willing to pay such a price to find out about Ali?

Aria-Things are falling apart for Aria. She's back from Iceland, and troubles follow her home. I don't want to say too much about what happens to her because it would be spoilers. She's going along with the other Liar's plan to find A, but their suspect for A will make Aria's world crumple around her. She has a lot to worry about, and it's not all dealing with A.....or is it?

If you watch the show, there are couple of plot threads that are leaking into the book series.

Man, this is such a good read! It has a lot of twists and turns in the plot that will keep the reading hooked to the end, and the reader will be wanting more. Honestly, I love A. I love how A is all knowing and all seeing. Just when the Liars think they have A figured out, A pulls another thread and the Liars are faced that they don't have a clue to who A is.

The next book is Deadly, and it comes out Dec 3, 2013. Man, I so can't wait for the book to come out. I'll be the first in line.

Viva la' A!

I'd say "Crushed" was a fairly good entry overall, although I'm sort of surprised that this is considered the start of the 4th story arc, since the 3rd arc (books 9 to 12) wrapped nothing up and revealed no one. Before I even get into any particulars of this 13th entry, I'll say one thing: Shepard is really stretching things out thin. And it's clear many fans have jumped ship.

Putting that aside, I'd say this was a strong entry because the four girls finally smartened up and used a little bit of logic. It was about time -- I was surprised to find they employed some semblance of deductive reasoning to try and figure out who "A" is, once and for all. They acted as a cohesive group, which seemed impossible before. Why was it impossible before? Plot-line convenience, that's all. In fact, this time around, they were almost uncharacteristically different, considering how dumb they seemed in the last 4 books -- like how they thought Gayle could be A? That one still makes me laugh.

Either way, I'm willing to overlook these 180 degree changes in personality, since (for the most part), the person they believed to be "A" this time wasn't completely out of left field. That is a welcome change, although it did follow a similar "____ is A" followed by "nope, turns out ____ isn't A" formula... but at least this time their rationale made sense!

As for the individual stories of each of the four girls throughout, well, they actually had some strong moments. I thought Emily's was dragging on at first. It did improve, but was also the weakest of the four this time. Spencer's thing with Chase was pretty exciting at first, but sort of fizzled in the limo. Hanna's prom queen Chassey crap didn't matter to me. Aria's story was probably the strongest, and you could sense her conflicting feelings towards the girls accusatory Noel statements. Overall, the 4 story-lines kept my interest well enough. If I had one complaint, it was that they finally revealed the terrible thing that happened in Iceland (yay!) but it turned out to be the lamest thing ever (boo!) ...like, who cares? Spend like 3 or 4 books teasing us about a bit of art theft? Right....

I'm willing to give this a better rating than I expected I would, especially since the girls figured out what the readers already knew (A isn't superhuman, so, duh -- I'm surprised it isn't more than 2 people considering how ridiculously omnipresent "A" is) and since these girls have stopped being so stupid, you have to give them a pass. At least, for now. They've been known to be rather bipolar. Maybe they need to be in the Preserve. 7.5/10

I really liked this story. Some of the other books seemed to drag on and a lot of dumb stuff happened but I didn't feel that with this story. The girls finally get together to try to figure out who A could be. They each have their own person that they need to investigate to see if they could be A. There was some really obvious suspects but of course A is always one step ahead. So even if someone is suspicious, they may really be guilty of something else. I was hoping we were going to find out some real answers by the end of the book but it just left with me more questions. Hopefully we will find out sooner rather than later the answers to our questions.

Wow , I do have to say if there was one series in the world that I love the most it would have to be the Pretty Little Liars series and that is both the TV show and the books. I just think that it's amazing that still after 3 seasons and 13 books that the series is still able to hold the interest of the reader and keep the readers on edge as the story becomes more and more intense. So in Book #13 , the girls thought that they could escape "A" but they should have known better as "A" is everywhere and is more dangerous than ever and has taken to tormenting the girls - a whole new level. From Aria whose little trip with Noel, Mike and Hanna to Iceland resulted in a little art theft with a Icelandic guy named Olaf and a Van Gogh painting , Hanna wants the ultimate prize of Prom Queen but what will happen when Hanna gets a new opponent and "A" won't let her campaign against her opponent ? Hanna has been working at the burn clinic, hoping to get information from Graham - but what will happen when it's revealed "A" is closer than you think ? Spencer's new boyfriend Reefer is off to Colombia , but when Spencer finds a blog dedicated to the mystery of Ali and starts chatting to the guy Chase , will he reveal more than she let on and is he part of the "A-Team" ? Emily's task in Crushed is to find out what Iris from "The Preserve" knows about Ali - what will happen though when Iris reveals Ali's secret boyfriend ? If all this wasn't enough for the girls to cope with , in Book #13 they have an FBI agent Fuiji tailing them and asking questions about Tabitha.
And not to spoil it , but the Cliffhanger of PLL - Book #13 sees another major character killed off by "A".

This book in the series really had me going. It amazes me how hooked Sara Shepard can keep you in this series even the thirteenth book into the series. The closer you think the liars are to getting the answers the further away they are in reality. Well done, Sara Shepard, well done.

I've started to read the books after watching the first season of the show on tv. I went on internet and saw comments of fans stating how the books are so much better though the tv series are not so bad.
After the Mona as first A, i was thrilled that Sara Shepard brought more suspenses with new stalkers, characters's maturity growing through the books.
"Crushed" is without doubts, the most interesting one among the last 4books, excluding Ali's pretty little lies. New revelations about existing characters and new allies for the pretty little victims brought fresh air to a collection that started to repeat itself and gets old.
Unfortuntely Shepard who's a fantastic writer, cannot extend the storyline for so long. If this goes beyong the 20th book, she won't only lose most of her fans readers' admiration and respect, but also put all of us off from trying her other series collecion she wrote. Instead, it's more of a time to prepare a shocking and unexpecting ending so closing this beautiful, intriguing yet long journey that the pretty little stories are.

Really good, extremely suspenseful, and the ending was great, sad, but great. When a book makes me this sad after a character's death, that's how you know it is a great book. I am still saying "NO NO NO" over and over. I feel like I need to be locked up in Radley Sanitorium, I am completely mind screwed and thirsty for more. The ending to Crushed reminded me of the endings of Heartless and Wicked with Jenna and Ian. In Rosewood, when you know a pretty little secret you aren't supposed to, it might just seal your fate. Amazing job Sara Shepard.

Ugh, Crushed was so good. I usually like Hanna and Aria's storylines the best and Emily and Spencer's are so-so. But in Crushed they were all equally great. Although she is my favorite by default, Hanna's was my favorite though. Crushed really showed what a dynamic character she is and she has come a really long way from oggling the 5th grade popular kid lunch table, to where she is now. I'm so proud of her.

I finished the first eight and thought the series was brought full circle and everything was figured out. I was sad that Ali wasn't as incorporated in Twisted, ie the prologue flashbacks. And with the Tabitha storyline, I thought reallyyyyyy????? This seems like I know what you did last summer or something. But after reading Ali's Pretty Lies and Crushed, you realize that there was a reason behind Sara's madness. The full circle that you thought was around the first eight books, Yeah you still don't even know nearly a half of it. I was counting the days till the season 4 premiere, but now I am counting down the minutes until DEADLY. I just- ugh- I cant wait.

This started off on such a high note that to see it crash and burn towards the end left me feeling disappointed and ripped off. It seems like Sara Shepard either ran out of ideas / time, or just plain slapped whatever together to finish this series off. The first 11 or 12 books kept up the momentum and creativity that has made this both a bestseller and an entertaining TV series. There might have been 1 book somewhere in the middle that was just average, but the majority were filled with enough suspense, intrigue, and backstabbing that kept me hooked until the last page - which I usually finished somewhere after midnight.

This book was below par and just plain boring. The closer Sara Shepard got to the end of the series, the more ridiculous and pot-hole filled her story design became. If I hadn't enjoyed the previous books so much, I would have demanded a refund for this book and the one that followed.

I have been reading these because I enjoy the TV series, but I must admit that it is becoming difficult to finish this series. I feel like Shepard is adding to the series only to make money (which she will do with so many loyal fans). She continuously repeats prior plots, character descriptions, and unnecessary information as filler to create another whole book. If you are reading the thirteenth book in a series, you should know what is going on. I'm very disappointed in the writing style and that an author would take advantage of their readers like this, the series should have ended with Wanted, which would have been a good way to end the TV series as well (even if it was a little unrealistic).

This book was very entertaining. I have read all the other books so I am committed to the series. I have to know how it will all end. This book was good. I enjoyed it. I am giving it 4 star because I have a couple of complaints. First of all, the liars should know by now that their main suspect, the obvious suspect, is NEVER the guilty one. How many times can they make the same mistake? Also, I hope that the character that may or may not be dead at the end of that book is not killed off! I have a theory on who Ali's helper is but I could be wrong. I think it is Mike. Can't wait till December for the final volume! But so sad one of my favorite series is ending. I hope Sara Shepard starts a new series. Lying Game also comes to an end soon.

I just finished Crushed, as usual in one sitting and as usual was on the edge of my seat. Like everyone else I'm sure, I'm also getting anxious for this thing to be wrapped up so that I can have all the answers but there's a reason why I'm addicted to these books so I don't know what I'm going to do after them as "The Lying Game" just doesn't do it for me AS MUCH as the Pretty Little Liars series.

Slightly a new concept for this one, the girls are going on the offensive and trying to get A before she/they gets them. I had been hoping that they would actually sit down and start strategizing for a while so I was glad to see this. They come to the realization that there's no way Ali, if still alive, could be doing all this crap by herself. I came to have suspicions about this besides the obvious when reading "Ali's Pretty Little Lies" which I thought was actually essential to the series so if you haven't read that go do it because it provides a lot of insight on the sister's perspectives of things and backgrounds. May contain a major hint about who she's really working with.

The ending becomes somewhat reminiscent of the other books (omg this person definitely is A, everything's coming together! oh wait, nevermind) with a big bomb being dropped at the end. Overall, this book definitely did NOT disappoint me, I liked it much better than the previous. Kept my heart raising and was well-written as ever!

Also.....

Sara Shepard if you are reading this PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't kill off Noel Kahn! I LOVE him and Aria so SO much! They remind me of me if I were to get a really hot popular boyfriend.

I doubt you'll listen to a random reader but worth a shot!

I preordered this book and I found it annoying that I had to open the store to the book and load it. However this book was worth it!
In this book,we finally figure out what Aria did in Iceland. I was shocked! This book mainly focuses on her and Iceland.
The girls try to outsmart A and go in a panic room, but at the end we find out that A could still see them. A private investigator is introduced. She is working on the Tabitha case and wants to see if the girls knew anything. Did A tip her off?
In this book, Spencer's boyfriend Reefer breaks up with her 2 weeks before prom. She tries to find another suitable date and she finds one in an unexpected place. She was looking at consiracy blogs and comes across one about the Ali case. She meets the "creator"(he turns out later to be the brother of the creator) under a fake name.
Hanna starts to volunteer at the burn clinic again to find out what Graham knows. Mike gets suspicious bevause her ex, Sean, works there and his dad owns it. Hanna meets an unexpected friend from the same room as Graham. She isn't what she seems though.
Aria struggles with her relationship problems and it gets worse when Noel is suspected to be on the A team. Her past in iceland comes back to find her when the story resurfaces with some new evidence.
Emily's job is to talk to Iris,Hanna's crazy old roommate. They have a lot of fun together and she becomes Emily's date to the prom. Iris is a big help to the girs when she tells them that Noel constantly visited Real Ali at the Preserve. We find out that he loved Ali and helped her torture the girs (even Aria). Aria is heartbroken. The morning after prom, the girls get a note from A telling them to go to a shed behind the school. They call the cops and they open it. Inside is a dead Noel.

I just finished Sara Shepard's "Crushed." It's good and all, but this series should've stopped after the 8th book. I read this because I'm the type who can't stop until I've reached the end. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this book unless you're a die hard fan. I personally like the fact that the liars were proactive, but some things they do are mindless. They should've seen the ending coming. I didn't like that Aria was acting so dumb and did the thing in Iceland. On the plus side, this book is better than the last one. The last one was boring and honestly, was a waste of paper. These books are starting to get old. I remember I started reading these in 6th grade.

This one was much better than the last.

It's hurried and suspenseful and there is a limited amount of inner teenage angst that doesn't relate to the story, which is a welcome improvement. It is frustrating because just when you think you're about to get some answers... someone else dies. This book echoes the first 8 books closer than any of the more recent additions have. If you've enjoyed the first 8 books and have been somewhat disappointed with the newer ones, you'll probably like this one.

I'm still somewhat fed up with the characters and the terrible decisions they constantly make, but this book was much less whiny and vapid than the last one was. I was glad they finally tried to take some initiative and solve their problems. Yay, character development! The "Iceland secret" was finally revealed, and considering it was built up as the worst thing ever done in the history of the world, what it actually was just made me say "really? that's what took 3 books to build up?"

All that being said, I think I enjoyed this one more because my expectations were so low. Of course, I still feel like I'm reading out of obligation, just to maybe, someday find out who's behind all this. It really is time to end this series before the entire storyline repeats itself; I hope the author can do it well in the next book instead of in another 48 books.

I lost some hope in the series after the last book but this was amazing. It took me back to the old days when I actually got a rush while I was reading this book. Last book I could barely force myself to finish it but I finished Crushed in two days. GREAT READ definitely worth it.Can't wait to read the next book.
