This is the second book in The Nightwalkers by Jacquelyn Frank.

A beautiful story. It is beautiful when someone most people fear too much to care for finds love. It takes an open mind and heart to look past preconceptions to see the truth beneath them.

Gideon is the most powerful and oldest demon. He has the ability to heal. Magdelegna is still considered a child in demon years and she is still learning how to control her powers. They are destined to be together whether either one wanted or expected the union.
This book explores how even a healer can be broken and how the young can teach the old. It also demonstrates how the weaknesses in one person may be the strengths in the other person, and together they are whole. Both characters have to overcome internal and external battles to that happy ever after, but it's a battle of which the reader wants to be a part.
This book delivers a powerful lover story. Jacki Frank is a master story teller.

Not horrible, but not good. Very wordy and very little action. I felt as if I were watching a Charlie Brown Cartoon, cause the pace was very slow....... What a shame, this story had sooooo much potential. I will give this series one more chance by reading Book #3.

Read alot of paranormal books. Any that are predictable arent worth my money and J. Frank is getting better. Except for it to be a little slow starting and really getting into the meat of the matter; it is a very good book. Eagerly waiting the next especially with the complex union between different races and the next romance. Wackyblue

Well, as one who very much enjoyed Jacob, and then Noah which I read next for some reason, I was looking forward to Gideon. I found it was a let down. Not bad, per se, but not great either. I found the romantic tension that Gideon and Legna had in the first book did not translate to their own story...they were just kind of blah. Again, not bad but not great. Here's hoping the rest pick up a bit.

I love this new series. If you like Kenyon (Dark-Hunters series) or Ward (Black Dagger Brotherhood series), you will love these books. Frank is now in my top five authors! Gideon is even better than Jacob. I loved the characters in this book and I missed them as soon as I finished it. I can't wait until the 3rd one comes out. Buy it! It won't disappoint!

What a bummer. Jacob rocked, but Gideon was just not very good. I kept thinking this over and over in my head as I read it. The start was not exciting and did not get much better. There was no climax between the 2 lead characters, instead it was about a whole group of people. Ultimately the lead characters were not interesting and the book was hard to follow. Too many characters seemed to be focused on at once. Too many "new" species of people for one book. Also, I already read about Jacob and Gideon should have been the focus, but he really was not. Lastly, many odd loose endes. I am hopeful the next book is better.

I read Jacob and had to force myself through Gideon. These books have such promise. I love the story, I hate the writing. So, I have now started to skim through the huge paragraphs to get to the action parts. I'll try reading the next book Elijah, but I think I'll have to skim my way through that one too.

I will probably be in the minority with this book, but as Frank's Book One (Jacob) in the Nightwalkers series, "Gideon" is much the same: trying to read it is very difficult. The wording and conversations between the characters are very cold and mechanical. Other than mostly dialogue and descriptions of inner longer or angst for our two main characters, there is not much more going on. If you are a fan of nice love scenes also, there is not much more going on at that end either.
Gideon is that cold but beautiful hero that all women want and dream about. He is the oldest and strongest of the Nightwalkers, a type of demon who protects his society. He soon finds he has a mate, which is Magdelegena (what a name!) the sister to the demon king. Even though these two are at odds with each over, they find out that they are imprinted from birth to be each other's mates. So even though they don't like each other, they lust and care for each other soon after they find out this information and simply they don't fight it, well for the reason is "just because".
Of course you have some action and the constant turmoil. We also have vampire and werewolves coming out of the blue along with those nasty enemies who have it in for our demon race. I truly wished this series would be more appealing because it takes skill to write a fantasy world like this. Frank falls short on that end. The overall plot and drama of these demon soul mates loses interest quickly.
Perhaps if you are a fan of Christine Feehan's "Dark Series", you maybe a fan of this one also. Otherwise I give this a major pass.

A very good start on a fantastic series. I loved "Jacob". "Gideon" is a great book written by a talented author. Thank you Jackie for sharing your "NIGHTWALKERS". Looking forward to the third book.

I agree with a previous reviewers assessment, and I hope we are not in the minority. I actually couldn't get through this book. Too much "internal angst and longing" - blah blah blah. Kind of reminded me of Stephanie Laurens "Perfect Lover" (yawn). Yes, as romance readers we all know that the two main characters will end up together, in love, happily ever after. But, come on, we'd like to have an interesting journey. I can't remember how much I liked Jacob, but I guess I liked it enough to want to buy Gideon. Do you ever wish you could return a book?
