The short novella WINTER'S PASSAGE was a great way to get more action and chemistry between Ash and Meghan. This isn't a must read. A lot of the beginning is just a repeat of what happened in the previous book THE IRON KING, but if you're a lover of the series then I suggest the read. The story follows Ash and Meghan as they visit Puck before they make their way to the Winter Court. They're in danger as a ferocious wolf is hunting them. As they try to out run the wolf and make it safely to the Winter Court, the reader can see the bond growing more intense between Ash and Meghan. The romance and the action really made the read worth it and if you don't end up reading the novella and just skip to THE IRON DAUGHTER then the beginning of the book goes briefly over what happened in WINTER'S PASSAGE.

After finishing The Iron King I was more than ready to jump into Winter's Passage - I love the idea of short novella's to help bridge the gap between books and I really enjoyed this look into the journey of Ash and Meghan as they head back to Tir na Nog, the home of the Winter Fae Queen Mab and the Unseelie Court.

That said, this was definitely a novella. It was short and sweet and dealt primarily with the budding relationship between Ash and Meghan. There was a smattering of action and a few appearances by some favorite characters but other than that, it was just a short story intended to whet the appetite for the upcoming release of The Iron Daughter .. which, thanks to NetGalley, I had waiting for me on my Kindle following the finishing of this book.

This story takes place after Ash and Meghan leave her house, but before they get to the Winter Court. Something is hunting them. Can they make it? Will they be safe? Who will help them? I'm not telling... it's worth the read to find out. If you don't want to grab this, you won't be confused when the next book starts, but knowing this story makes things later a little bit more awesome. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but if you're one like me who needs to know all about the world you're reading about- this is something you should pick up too. Definitely worth the insight and adventure!

Starting off right where The Iron King left off, Winter's Passage was a great refresher into the world of the Nevernever. Even though it is extremely short, I feel that it is well worth it and necessary if you wish to understand completely the next book in the series, The Iron Daughter.

Everything that I absolutely adored about The Iron King was condensed and packaged into this short and small novella. Ash was there. Puck was not. Just the way it should be! There was enough action to feel that you are just reading along with the series, but not too much where it feels like reading a real book.

Overall, Winter's Passage is just what I needed to fill my Iron Fey craving. The perfect filler to read if you are anxiously awaiting The Iron Daughter.

I read The Iron King (Harlequin Teen) and loved it. Then I got an advanced digital copy of the The Iron Daughter (Harlequin Teen) and loved that as well. So when I saw Kagawa had released a short story that takes place in the time that passes between those two books I was excited! This was a great little story. I got my copy of this story through [...]

This story tells about what happens to Ash and Meghan after they leave her house but before they get to the Winter Court. Ash and Meghan are being hunted by something dark, determined, and evil. Can they make to the safety of Winter's Realm before it catches them?

If you liked The Iron King you will like this story. Kagawa writes it in the same action-packed, edgy, and engaging style that she her previous book. This book also fills out a little more about what happens between Ash and Meghan to makes things super tense when they are in the Winter Court, in The Iron Daughter.

I really enjoyed the story. I read it on my Kindle and it was a great read. It is just a novella though and, at 60 some pages long, only takes an hour or two to read. Still it is a nice interlude to hold you through until you can read The Iron Daughter. Which by the way is an excellent book too. I am very impressed with Kagawa's writing, I love how she leaves all the bad, gritty things in fairy with all the good.

Winter's Passage tells of the little side trip Meghan and Ash take before he finally delivers her to Queen Mab. She insists on checking up on poor Puck who is still inside the tree recuperating. But something old and powerful is chasing them! Ash will once again protect Meghan with his life.

I just loved getting to know Ash's character better. To see how he struggles with his feelings for Meg, and how ultimately he surrenders. He's also very, um, creative when it comes to saving Meghan from becoming a human icicle. Just get the heart racing and the blood pumping right? ^__^ This story definitely builds up the emotions for The Iron Daughter.

While I merely enjoyed "The Iron King", I loved "Winter's Passage". Kagawa has a descriptive voice that makes visualizing the world of the fae easy as pie. This story was very action driven and did not let up for a minute. You are drawn in with the first page and then shattered when it ends so abrupt. Luckily, I have "The Iron Daughter" on hand to start immediately. Ash became a much more likeable character as you see him fighting his feelings for Meghan. Though he is determined to keep his word and deliver Meghan to his Queen Mab, even if it means Meghan's death, you can tell that he's torn about this decision. I expect when the actual time arrives to do this he will be unable to wholly comply.

What I LOVED: This was fantastic "in-between" short that does a good job of getting you ready for the continuing of the adventure that Meghan Chase has found herself a part of.

What I LIKED: Is that both Ash and Meghan stayed true to their characters. I still don't like their pairing but I do like their dialogue/friendship/caring of one another.

Why I gave it a 4: This was a great way to tie the first and second books together. Sure it could have been part of the second book but I think it works better as a stand alone. I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the series.

This is an excellent in between novella to whet the appetites of readers awaiting the upcoming release of The Iron Daughter (Harlequin Teen). I had a minor wish after reading an ARC of the Iron Daughter. I'm happy to say it comes true with this book which features Ash and Meghan as they trek across Winter lands toward the Fae court. Lots of action, adventure and romance keeps this story within the vein of what makes the Iron Fey series so addictive. If I had one more wish, it would be for this to be available in print and audio for my keeper shelf!

What a TEASE! My impatience for the release of The Iron Daughter multiplied exponentially when I read this novella! Winter's Passage spins the tale of Meghan and Ash's journey to Tir Na Nog to uphold Ash's vow to the Winter Queen Mab to deliver her alive. Being an interval novella I was concerned about this just being a recap of The Iron King and not really worth the time. Wrong!!! This is an adventure all its own and Julie perfectly balanced the background referencing and new adventure, so Iron Fey addicts like me can get our fix. Thanks, Julie, you big tease!!! Seriously, though, even if you haven't read The Iron King, Winter's Passage is a great story and will definitely suck you in.

This little ebook was every bit as exciting as the first book in the series The Iron King. We get a lot more insight into the Ash and Meghan relationship, their dynamic really evolves in this novella. I am assuming that the story will pick up in The Iron Daughter where this book left off, so if you don't read this book you won't be lost at all, but you will have missed out a great deal on the evolving relationship between Ash and Meghan. Its free, download it and enjoy!

This was a quick little story that explains what happens "in between" the time Meghan leaves her family and needs to return to the Winter Court per her agreed contract. The wolf predator aspect was quite confusing to me, and I'm not really sure that it was even really necessary as part of the story, but hey, I'm glad I read it anyway. Can't wait to pick up book 2!

This is actually the first novella that I have read so I wasn't sure what to expect. I knew going into this story that it happens between book 1 and book 2, The Iron King and The Iron Daughter. I had already read The Iron Daughter through [...]
The novella picks up where The Iron King leaves off, with the journey to the Winter Court. I really enjoy Kagawa's writing. It is always clear what is going on, what the setting looks like (without going overboard), and how the characters are acting.
I guess my...'problem' with Winter's Passage is that I felt like I had just read a lot of the interaction between Meghan and Ash in The Iron Daughter, book 2. She talked about how Ash tried to prepare her for the Winter Court. As the synopsis says though they did have a hunter after them so, that made this story different. But, with all that I felt like I had just read in The Iron Daughter I kind of wondered if Winter's Passage, while enjoyable, is really necessary.

Wasn't exactly sure what to expect from this novella, as far as when the story would begin. It begins right where we left off with Meghan and is a great little adventure as she and Ash make their way to the Winter Court. Looking forward to the next book!

A great little novella showing readers what happened between the beginning of Iron Daughter. Ash and Meghan seem to further show their feelings towards each other. While Ash makes a devastating decision. Enjoyed.
