I've been fascinated by the story of Charles Manson and the Family since I was a teenager. Now as an adult and a prosecutor I'm even more fascinated by the psychology and sociology behind the story. This book is an amazing first-hand account, masterfully told with tremendous insight. Thank you, Ms. Lake, for sharing your story. A must read!

I have read just about every book ever written on this subject. If you are interested in the trial, read Helter Skelter. If you are interested in the Family, read this book! I believe these are the 2 best books ever written about Manson and the Family!

I really don’t like to read, after seeing Dianne on Dr. Phil, I had to get her book.

I couldn’t put it down. I’ve found some pretty healing words in her book.

Thank you Dianne for sharing....

If you've read Helter Skelter, you absolutely must read this too. There's so much insight, and the emotions are strong. I was always so curious about Dianne's story, but thought she'd disappeared forever. Turns out, she's a remarkable writer, and she will pull you in, and not let go.

excellent book, I enjoyed from the beginning to end. You cannot put it down. One the best books about cults that I have read (if you would like to know which is the best, it was without a doubt: Seductive Poison).

Reason for buying" We all know the story of "The Family" but I have always been surprised, and wondered, how he got these gals to follow him. Now reading this book, I can sure see why Dianne Lake jumped at the chance. Probably most of the gals were like lost souls

Thanks Dianne Lake for your chilling story of being captured @ such a young age.
I have not finished the book yet, but so far this poor lady is so brave to write about her innocence & how Manson took it away...BUT
in the end she outsmarted HIM.
Book was well packed & fast delivery the store.
I heard OLD MANSON was now on HIS DEATH BED according to social media!!
GOD BLESS YOU DIANNE~

It's a fascinating story told from a different perspective. It help my interest even though I already know a lot about the topic. The writing was a bit awkward and at times felt unpolished. I wasn't crazy about the reading. Still, I'm glad I listened to it.

I only read Helter Skelter up until this point. This book gave an inside account of what it was like to live in one of those Hippie communes, but most of all, what day to day life was inside the Manson Family cult.
I only wish there were more pictures.

A fascinating, troubling look at the 60's counterculture movement, and how it was perverted by a madman. Having grown up in this era, it has given me a new appreciation for my over protective parents. The author's story, while sad, is ultimately an uplifting view of the power of the human spirit and the power of God.
