I had a hard time keeping all the different characters in place. Seemed like some of the characters were inserted without any real purpose to the overall story. In those cases it just added confusion.

Already waiting for the next story... Not all together as thrilling as the writing would have been by Tom Clancy himself, but very satisfying nevertheless... Very good writing.
The succession of Tom seems very hard to assume.

Reads more like a young adult spy novel - and not a particularly good one - than military fiction. Far-fetched characters, a poor romance and an on the nose political bent makes this an at times embarrassingly poor read.
Debt of Honor (A Jack Ryan Novel Book 6) :: Tom Clancy's Op-Center: For Honor :: Book three in the Metamorphoses series - Gods and Monsters :: Glad Monster, Sad Monster :: The Cardinal of the Kremlin (A Jack Ryan Novel Book 3)

With three people writing four Jack Ryan and Jack Ryan junior books in the last year and a half, it's clear greed and money are the motivating factors here -- greedy family and greedy publishing company. All 4 books use the same characters. Some lack plot and others diverge from what made all of this a success. Character behavior is inconsistent too. In some Jack Ryan Jr is reckless and behavior is inconsistent and inconsistent with character development of the past. In some books the Company functions like a team on cases, in some Jack is a reckless, horny loner. With all 4 books using additional characters like the president, first lady, Gerry Handley and Gavin Biery, who is making sure their behavior is consistent in all these books? Who is the keeper of the flame for all these characters. Why not just pick one person to continue what was a great series? The answer has to been greed!

I was really not sure about reading this book, but I had already pre-ordered it. I read all of Tom Clancy books, and I have read all the books by the authors writing for the estate, I was glad my characters would be going on, even after the death of Mr. Clancy. However, the last Jack Jr. book was not my favorite but I read an early review of this one and thought I would give this author one more chance. I really liked it. I liked the location and I found myself turning to the internet to learn about the history and to follow the story. I thought it was a good story, some action, some history, a little romance, how can you go wrong? I gave it four stars instead of five for two reasons. There was more history than action or character interaction, and a couple of storylines ended kind of abruptly. I was surprised. Still, all in all,a good read, a good addition to the series. I will read the next Jack Jr. book. It can be read as a stand alone if you haven’t read the other Jack Jr. books, the author explains what is needed to move the book along.
