This is regarding the Kindle version.

Brownsworth has compiled an enjoyable, efficient history of a few centuries of blood, gore, ambition, and globe trotting on the Vikings. In many ways, this is a "who's who" of Viking lore, bringing alive a series of world-changing adventurers and raiders.

A few notes in the Kindle version. First, too many minor errors. "Rus" becomes "Russ", and "Svein" becomes "Swen", among other small things that show a lack of editing or poor scanning. The book is richly linked and they work! that is welcome.

Who knew? Nobody ever taught THIS in school. All we ever heard about were the Greeks and Romans. What a refreshing perspective on a time in History that formed Western world. Loved. Glad to know that these guys are +60% of my gene pool.:-)

Excellent presentation of what could be a very complicated subject covering characters from several centuries. Easy to read story telling style. Just what I was looking for to sort out the whole Viking history. After reading this, makes the History Channel series even more enjoyable.

This book presents a wealth of information about the invaders from the north that goes beyond the usual stereotypes of blond men in coastlines and flaxen haired women minding the hearths. Who knew the Vikings raided Constantinople?

When I get saddened and troubled by the horrors that pervade every culture I can now find some solace in just how far mankind has come in 1300 years! Brownsworth does a stellar job of making this historical account of the Vikings a pageturner.

Easy to read. interesting with anecdotal information, while providing a overview summary of the Viking period. Most of the events in the Vikings TV series actually happened, but over 300 years, not in Ragnar's life time.

So much interesting information. Fantastic overview of the Viking age. Piqued my interest in many of the characters of that time. Easy read and not overwhelming even though there was so much information to cover.

This book is organized well and presents the most important materials without going into the weeds. If you want to learn about the Vikings, but not as a research scholar, this book is well worth your time.

This book is well organized and clearly written. It is easy to read and so interesting it was hard to put down. For a history buff like me it was a wonderful opportunity to gain significant knowledge of three hundred years of Viking conquest and culture. Thank you Lars Brownworth!

So much more impact on our current history than I ever appreciated.A quick read, but certainly an interesting read. Would heartily recommend it to anyone was even a passing interest in history and it's impact on current affairs.

I was looking for a brief, general history of the Vikings and this turned out to be a good choice. The Kindle version had a few missing punctuations and I felt like the text needed a little closer editing to flow better in places. Aside from those minor criticisms I found this to be a useful book for its stated purpose.

The Sea Wolves is an interesting summary of the history of the Viking Age. Brownworth's narrative writing style is concise and action packed. He presents a compelling overview of the impact the Vikings had on Europe during its formative period during the Middle Ages. I had no idea how much the Vikings influenced European cities, culture, politics and the spread of Christianity.

This book is about viking raiders, from their initial martial prowess to their time as explorers, traders, and rulers. I like the for its grand sweeping narrative. Lars Brownworth gives a reader everything they would like to know about Viking men and Viking myth.
What the book lacks is a Viking homelife. We get glimpses of how Vikings lived, eat, treated women, slaves, and what Vikings cared for interspersed throughout the book. But there is no tidy chapter for these things. More important, I left wanting to know what Vikings were like before they left home.
If you want a great descriptor about Viking history over 3 centuries, this is the book. If you want a more succient text about Viking culture, this is not the bookk.
