An objective look at the worlds greatest athlete. Insight into a tragic story of a gifted but flawed human, designed by his father to perform. A compelling but sad story to be read by fans and critics.

The authors have clearly done their homework on Tiger's life, and, for most of the book, Tiger comes across looking like a narcissistic jerk. The last chapter brings forth the idea that after his painful divorce, issues with sex addiction, and therapy for both sex addiction and addiction to pain killers, that maybe, JUST MAYBE, a more humble and empathic Tiger Woods is evolving, one more focused on his children and his interpersonal relationships. It is hard to know whether this is a Tiger that can change his stripes.

Starting out as a superhuman athlete winning the Masters in record fashion in his early 20's, and being seemingly invincible on his rapid approach to winning 14 majors in golf, the Tiger Woods portrayed in the book is one who has incredible mental focus and athletic ability, spurred by parents who wanted and expected him to be the best there is at golf. The singular focus also seems to have a downside, as Woods comes across as self-centered, socially awkward, and despised by his peers on the tour. His adulterous affairs, which came to a head on Thanksgiving night 2009, showed the world what a jerk this guy can be. Age and injuries have proven to Tiger that he is not Superman. One does not necessarily need to be a fan of golf to enjoy this book. The emphasis is mainly on Tiger Woods, human being. No doubt he has had a great golf career, but the jury is still out as to whether he has truly evolved as a caring compassionate human being, capable of intimate relationships.
