"THE CHRISTMAS TRAIN" TAKES ONE ON AN UNUSUAL JOURNEY WITH UNKNOWN FRIENDS. HOWEVER, THERE IS A REASON FOR THE JOURNEY AND THE THINGS THAT HAPPEN UNKNOWN UNTIL THE END OF THE TRIP. YOU TRAVEL FROM WASHINGTON TO CHICAGO, CHICAGO TO LOS ANGELES. THERE IS FROLIC AND LAUGHTER ,INTRIGUE, ADVENTURE AND VICTORY. DAVID BALDACCI IS KNOWN FOR WEAVING HIS STORIES THROUGH STORIES AND HE DOES IT MASTERFULLY HERE IN "THE CHRISTMAS TRAIN", I PURCHASED IT FOR THE TITLE, I READ IT AND HAD A WONDERFUL ADVENTURE ON "THE CAPITAL LIMITED" AND "THE SOUTHWEST CHIEF" ALL ABOARD!

I like this author. His other stuff that is. This story was predictable, juvenile, boring and just beyond annoyingly stupid. If you like his other character driven books, then skip this. I found myself speed reading everything tenth word just to get through it.

This is a light and entertaining little story. It is a perfect prelude to the Christmas season. Mr. Baldacci has a gift for describing people and settings. There were just enough twists and turns to make this a fun read ...... if not completely believable.

I would most definitely recommend The Christmas Train to readers of all ages, in fact, it would make a nice Christmas present.

I love "The Christmas Train"! The story grabs you, is totally believable. It is laugh out loud funny. Tom's (main character) unique perspective on the world is so humorous. He is a journalist who is trying to be the writer he was meant to be. He's seen the bad side of the world and now just wants to find where he belongs. I love the characters! I've ridden the passenger train several times and can easily visualize the situations Tom finds himself in. I highly recommend this book! Baldacci does it again, hits a home run. I also loved "The Winner".

While I love good books of mystery, history and thrillers, sometimes I want a break from the intensity each of the above can provide. This is why after reading a "sample" of "The Christmas Train" I knew this is just what I wanted to read. It's a light-hearted, fun and entertaining mystery with a nice bit of history regarding train travel. As a matter of fact, it has inspired me to take a trip from San Antonio to Chicago, then on to Philadelphia via the "rail". Thank you David Baldacci for "The Christmas Train". LSC

Please remove from pending list. I order too many books to review each. Additionally, individual's tastes differ and my opinion of a book should have no bearing on anyone elses. If enough people like it, it will make the best seller list.

I wanted a sweet easy Christmas story so I bought this on a whim. The overall story was cute and could have been a good read, but the flow and direction were way off. The story jumped and skipped all over the place with few if any likable charaters, the plot was decent until they "jumped the shark" with a blizzard. I am not one for romance novels, so maybe that's why I didn't agree with all the higher rated reviews. I'm not saying skip it......i'm just saying don't get your hopes up.

I thought this was of the most infantile books I have read for a long time. There are no redeeming features…its badly written, totally predictable and was a real struggle to get to the end. I kept hoping it would fire up but didn't…in fact got sillier the longer it went. Was three hours of wasted time!!!

Light, whimsical reading with a good message - we do get second chances however personal inventory and change may be needed.
Nice Christmas story. If you viewed the Hallmark movie, it does differ from that script.

Good holiday story. A bit romanticized in terms of the way Amtrak is portrayed (my recent experience on the Crescent was quite different). The story seems a bit far-fetched as well, but stay with it: trust me on this. You will be glad you did. And you will immediately like the Tom character. Now I'm wondering what to read next by this Baldacci guy. He's pretty darn good :)
