Loved the book, it was angsty and melodramatic, perfectly as teenagers are. West was facing his father's imminent death from cancer and was taking it out on everyone around. But Maggie had had it worse than him, she had watched her father kill her mother. So in sharing their bad experiences, West found strength to face his tragedy and Maggie healed from hers. It was a lovely story of two teenagers growing up thru despair, finding solace and love and consideration in each other.

The secondary characters were great also. Brady, Maggie's cousin was a perfect combination of protective and annoyed at having her foisted on him.

The book fell flat at the end and the epilogue was disappointing. There was an issue with West's mother that was not cleared up and the HEA was not yummy enough. Apart from that, the rest was a great read.

Another reviewer commented that they did not find Maggie's muteness believable. See I believed Maggie's muteness was somewhat out of her control at first - as in it was her psychological coping mechanism for a truly traumatic experience. "Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson is a very good example of a character who has the same coping mechanism after a horrific abuse. However I fully did not believe that after what Maggie had been through and the characterisation of her own father that she'd so easily speak to West after what little she had seen of him. And I don't buy that she just saw his pain and was so quick to come out of her own. I was really disappointed that the authorportrayed such a psychological breakdown as something that could be resolved by the minute attention of a cocky football player who was overall not a nice guy - and showed signs that he might one day be an abuser much like her own father.

I quit the book after she took him back over a one day breakup. I know the book was almost finished and I know it's high school. But they were dealing with very serious stuff and not to take the characters through the true emotional journey such controlling behaviour deserved is a disservice to young readers everywhere. Abbi Glines should well remember that her books will be read by impressionable minds and we should absolutely teach young women, especially young women who are survivors of abuse, that they are not someone else's object or doormat and that they should expect and demand better from the people they let into their hearts. That is why this book gets 1 Star. I'm upset that I've paid $10 dollars for something that I truly believe glorifies an abusive relationship.

Intense, passionate, sweet, and real! This book has all the feels! I really enjoyed this story! I was afraid I might not since the characters are younger, but with a writer like Abbi its not possible! This book will grab you by the heart strings!

This book gives you all the "feels. Everyone should read it. I wish I would have read it sooner.

I will definitely recommend this book. It isn't too adult that it should come with warnings but it does touch on a few issues that could be sensitive. I would recommend 16 & up.

Was a little disappointed in the ending. I hope the next book has some of the couple in it. West is all badass high school football star hot and even though Maggie is mute most of the book she is still sassy and sweet. Love it. But I want more of their story.

I am quite disappointed by this book. Abbi Glines just seems to be giving more of the same. I think this is over a couple of months at most, and the character 'development' still leaves them in, what I find, a very unhealthy relationship. The required break-up lasts a few effing hours! I didn't connect with the characters, and I feel (I hate to offend anyone who has been through a similar experience, and DID connect) as though the plot was more of an emotion-grabbing gimmick... :(

This was a great read, the story was well executed and had a lot of feeling
into it. You could almost feel like you where there with the characters and found d yourself rooting for them.
You really outdid yourself on this one rabbi I can tell you have thought of this one awhile, the characters and story where wonderful.
Keep up the good work.

Wow, this was such a touching and heartwarming story. This is definitely up there with Fallen Too Far as my favorite Abbi Glines book. I was sucked into West and Maggie's story from the very first page and didn't want to put it down. I can't wait to read more about these boys.

I loved this book... The story line and the characters were amazing! I gave 4 stars instead of 5 due to the fact that there were some grammatical errors in several places. It just annoys me. A good editor should have been able to find and fix those mistakes.

I liked the depth of the main characters, West and Maggie. They had to handle adversity, pain ,death, love as well as regular high school problems. The Chapter titles the author used, as I read the chapters and realized how they tied into the story was well done.it gave the chapters another dimension. Thank you Abbi Glines!

The storyline is captivating and hearfelt. The pain expressed in this book can only be described by someone who has lost someone they loved. This book put into words some of the feelings that I have never been able to express. In my own way I was also mute. The people who surround you in a time of need are the people who have the potential to change your life. This is a perfect example of that. I want more of the story, and more importantly I want to know who the mystery girl Riley Young is!

Awwww this book tugged at my heart, very well written. This is a story of two young adults going through or went through some hard times. I can't wait for the next book in the series. Great job, Abbi!!

This is such a heartwarming story that deals with loss and love. West and Maggie give each other the strength they need to get through their own individual trials and yet they find themselves together because of that strength.

Love being able to go back to high school through reading this book but it felt unfinished to me. For example did west decide to play college football or stay with his mom? Did they find out what was going on with his mom?
I gave the book 4 Stars because I could relate and felt what the characters felt. Story needs to be finished for West and Maggie

Approximately 3000 locations. Alternating POV between West & Maggie. The blurb does a good job of telling you what the story is about. The quote that Abbi has been using to promote is what made me want to read this story.

First topic of discussion - Price
$10.99 + tax came to a grand total of $11.90 for me here in Texas. In regards to the length of the book, that is expensive, especially compared to similar authors and books of the same YA genre. But, Abbi has increased in popularity in the New Adult m/f romance genre recently and with popularity comes an increase in price. It's like paying $30 for something at Forever 21 when you could basically get the same thing at Kohl's for $15. Now, to compare... I paid $7.99 + tax ($8.65) for Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey, but got approximately 10,000 locations. I've also paid $8.99 + tax for a m/m book with nearly 5,800 locations. I also subscribe to Kindle Unlimited for $9.99 + tax per month, but for the most part the books available through that aren't written by the popular authors. I typically buy books at the $5.38 or $6.99 + tax price. Now, I know Abbi has no say in the price and it is set by the publisher. I understand that the publisher has to make money, that Abbi has to make money, and that third party sites like the store have to get their portion too. BUT, if I'm going to pay an inflated price for an eBook(compared to similar works) then I expect the length to reflect that price. In my opinion, the length of this book does not reflect the price. I went ahead and bought it because I hadn't bought a book in a little bit - just reading Kindle Unlimited ebooks. In terms of quality if the length is taken out of the equation, then this story was worth more than some of her previous books that I've read.

Second topic - Realistic portrayal of high school characters?
I personally had trouble believing some of the things that happened and/or that people said is a realistic portrayal of a high school student. Now, maybe in small towns that obsess over football this stuff really happens. I don't know. All I can compare it to is my own high school experience and fictional tv shows/movies/books. Now, I live in Texas. Another state where football is king and home to America's Team, the Dallas Cowboys. The city where I went to school is not that small as it is a suburb of Dallas. Football was the most cared about sport, but it wasn't the school's best sports program the four years I attended. Our baseball and girls soccer were actually the best. Anyway, all that just to say that the football players were "popular," but not one of them ruled the school or had girls throwing themselves at them in the hallway. Ain't nobody got time for that when you had five minutes between classes and 30 minutes for lunch. For that matter girls didn't yell at other girls in the hallway. So guys didn't come swooping in yelling and cursing and beating their chests to "protect" their girlfriends. Plus, we didn't even have lockers.

Third topic- Alpha male behavior overload
In books, I like alpha males. They're manly and protective and are often wrapped around the woman's little finger. Love it. Sometimes they talk dirty. Fantastic. For a fictional story where you can temporarily escape life's realities, I love me some Alpha males. What I don't like or appreciate is when those qualities I mentioned are taken to the extreme and the romance of the fantasy is lost. As a woman, I don't want to read about guys being so jealous and possessive and claiming or owning women. Not sexy. Not romantic. Not healthy emotionally. (in my opinion) And I really don't want to read about girls who let guys get away with talking to them so chauvinistically, so I was glad to see Maggie actually take a stand in that regard. And thank you Abbi for not once using the word p***y in this book. I personally hate that word and was the main thing I disliked about her other books.

In conclusion: I gave this 4 (3.5 really) stars because I actually liked this book better than some of her New Adult romances. The last Sea Breeze I read was Bad for You & the last Rosemary beach I read was When I'm Gone. I was lucky and got most of her Sea Breeze and early Rosemary Beach books for $3.99 or $1.99, but stopped when the price kept going up and the length of the books didn't increase and to be honest, the stories were getting to be like the same story different couple. I gave Until Friday Night 4 stars because it was different from her other books and for once in a sports book there was no overbearing dad who abused/embarrassed/lived vicariously through his son. Overall, I liked the moral of the story. You never know what some is dealing with behind closed doors, so you should always be nice and treat others how you want to be treated.

Do I recommend? If you can overlook the price being high for the length, then yes, I do recommend this book. In my opinion, this is a story for mature teens 15 years & older.

The description didn't warn you that this book would break your heart and then put it back together. I cried. I laughed. I slapped Raleigh and Serena in my head a few times. Amazing book. Love Abbi Glines!
