After reading 50 Shades of Grey more than once, I went looking for a new author. This was a great transition! I love this book and I have now read ALL of R.L. Mathewson's work. I can't wait until she comes out with a new book. Great characters, wonderful story!

This was wonderful. I loved the story the characters were witty and the dialogue smart. There were a few chunky parts where I was confused but this book was great. I will be reading the rest of the series.

I liked the characters and chuckled several times. It was enjoyable and I definitely recommend it. I love books with great leading characters. Everyone has issues to deal with. It was nice to read a book where people deal with them and go on with life instead of justifying acting stupidly on a regular basis.

I was never into the whole "vampire" crazed theme that's going around. But after the "neighbor from he'll series" I couldn't get enough of the writing. So decided to give this series a shot and sure enough R.L. Mathewson DELIVERS and then some. So excited for the next books that follow.

Great foundation for a series. The plot moves quickly, but then again so does love. I did not like the "no choice" aspect, even if she planned to make it anyway. I enjoyed getting to know all the characters and look forward to more in this series.

Loved this author's other series Neighbor from Hell. Decided to try this book out and so glad I did. Funny, sexy, and all-around great paced book. Characters were fun and now I can move on to the next book in this series.

I really enjoyed this book, it reminded me a little tiny bit if twilight, but a great adult version where vamps don't sparkle and have great sex! I started with The Neighbor from Hell series, really enjoyed that series too. I will be checking the next book and more from this author. She has great wit in her stories that will have you laughing out loud, her characters are awesome the main ones and supporting. Highly recommended!

I read this since I had finished her Neighbor from Hell series which is fantastic!
I love how she ties humor and the importance of family in her stories. And did I mention the steamy sex scenes?!
Great read!

Keeps you engrossed from the first page, makes no difference that the main characters are non human. You will be , swept in to the ongoing fantasy as the characters come to life.
Great book a must read.

PS* a few typos`s but does not detract from story. There are two other great books that are in this series. Wish author would continue the series, was not interested in the other books she wrote, did not have the flare of these.

I absolutely LOVED this book!! Madison and Ephraim are so amazing together. In typical R.L fashion this book has the perfect amount of suspense, sex, and humor. I have never read a paranormal book before and probably won't ever again except from this author!!! Can't wait for the rest of the series!!! A definite must read!!!!

I loved each book and story within the Pyte/Sentinel series. I found it hard to put down and read each book in a day as it was so good. Loved the characters, and found it to be fun to read. I think RL Mathewson is a great author!

Started out promising, then just stalled and drawled over the same old family stuff, money stuff, then it was her hymen (!!??!!), the horrible dirty bathroom still bothers me and makes no sense for such a clean and smell sensitive guy, then came the endless bla bla vampire , sentinel, pyte stuff-- needed serious editing!!!! The characters were all 1 dimensional and not very interesting after the beginning wore off. A drag to get through and not very exciting given the subject matter...!

I really loved this book. More of an adult concept then Twilight. It had action, love, romance, & HEA. I wish there was a follow up book to their story. And it does have some sex scenes. Descriptive but not too descriptive.

This book is so awesome. Almost like Twilight but for adults more than teens. I'm so excited to start on the second book. R.L. Mathewson is my new face author.
Tall, Dark, & Lonely is fantasy and comedy and also drama but what good book doesn't come with drama? I'm recommending this and the rest of her books to everyone and anyone. A must read!

Ephraim is Tall, Dark & Lonely until he meets Madison, the granddaughter of his landlady in Rascal, New Hampshire.
Madison was the oldest of the three grandchildren who came to live with their grandmother, Eleanor, who was Ephraim's understanding landlady. Madison put herself through college to become a teacher while caring for her younger brother and sister. Eleanor was taking over legal guardianship of the two younger children so they moved to her boarding house. Madison takes the room next to Ephraim and the attraction and romance begins between a human and a Pyte.
Tall, Dark & Lonely is a wonderful romance, lots of paranormal excitement and twists to the story plus a good family story except for the violence the vampires bring. Thinking about love that will last an eternity is pretty cool for Ephraim and Madison.

I enjoyed the Neighbours from Hell series from this author, I found them light and entertaining reads. I expected this book to be the same but found myself disappointed with this offering from an otherwise good author.
I was frequently bored by the plot and the writing style. While it wasn't offensive, it felt more like a chore then a pleasure to read.
The leading man was a fun character to get to know but the author left us with little to relate to with the heroine. She was nice but kind of boring and she never seemed very real, she was rather one dimensional. And the author made such a huge deal of this character's virginity, dedicating a whole chapter to the surgical removal of her hymen - I mean, seriously?!! Then it was chapter after chapter about her financial difficulties and refusal to accept help from the gorgeous, sexy and loving Ephraim. Yeah, that was realistic! Not!
I wanted to just give up on the book countless times but hung in there in the hopes that it would improve and because it takes alot for me to just stop reading a book, no matter how bad it is - I'm stubborn like that!
It did have an action packed ending that was a pleasant surprise, so I am glad I hung in there. But the writing style was amatuer, drawn out in places making me skip paragraphs of unnecessary inner dialogue and just a let down from an otherwise good author.
I am curious to read the next Sentinal installment but I don't think I can do it, if it is anything like this one. Also, when I read the intro and it mentioned yet another short, huge breasted fumbling heroine (refer to her Neighbours from Hell series) I just thought "No, I just can't do it!"
While I enjoyed the Neighbours in Hell series, the author seriously needs to break away from her stereotypes to keep people reading. I liked her characters in the afore mentioned series and their relatability but variety is important too!
I hate to be so negative but it was hard to get through this book, especially knowing the author can do so much better.
If you want to read a book from this author, skip this one and go for the Neighbours from Hell series....they're much more entertaining and well written.

The actual story line in this book is really good. A bit too much smut and foul language for my liking. I had to skip over a lot just to continue the real story, but I would still recommend this book.
