My own sons loved this book when they were young. I gave this book to my granddaughter for her 3rd birthday. She loves it too! Story is simple, but what child wouldn't be enchanted by the rhyme as well as a little girl who is brave!

This is a wonderful story, with wonderful pictures. There are many reviews recapping the story, so I won't do so now. I will tell you that my daughter LOVES this story, and at the age of 2 had memorized every word on every page, and would "read" it to herself in her crib at night, imitating the voices that I had used when I read it to her. This story, along with all of the other original Madeline stories, should be a permanent addition to any little girl's book collection. It seems like a story that little boys would love as well, as does "Madeline and the Bad Hat". I highly reccomend this book.

At first my daughter (21 months at the time) would pick the book to be read to her because it was one of the largest books on the shelf (and stood out to her). However, as soon as we would start reading it she would immediately say "all done" and not want to finish the book. However, now (23 months) she will let me finish the book and actually enjoys it. It's pretty simple. The only down side in my opinion is the size of the book makes it very difficult to turn the pages with a small child sitting on your lap. I wish it were either smaller or the pages were easier to turn. Altogether not bad, and my kid finally likes the story. :)

I wanted to have this classic in my library--especially after I was given a parody of it called Frankenstein--I thought the littlest grandchildren needed this one to understand a lot of the things in the parody. Also I like to read it aloud.

This book was a favorite on Christmas afternoon as I read it to her the first time. My granddaughter laughed and giggled. It is obvious why this classic children's book received the Caldecott Award. It is a must have for a pre-K and up library!

Love this picture book - read it to my little girl (3 yrs old) after she watched the movie, and she had lots of fun trying to find madeline, and follow the story. I remember this as a kid myself, and it was nice to see that the book, pictures, story is timeless.

I remember this book series from my childhood and wanted my granddaughter to experience the same joy when having the book read to her. It is a timeless classic. It also introduces children to culture from a different country and time.
