If you enjoyed the Twilight Saga then you should give this a try.
The writing style isn't prefect and there are more typos than I would expect for a published work but the plot is entertaining and the characters are well portrayed. I finished this book in a few days, could hardly put it down and am eager for the next one.

A brilliant read. With an imaginative story and engagement characters, set in France. Which was a wonderful change from the usual US based storeys, which sounds trite but I found it very refreshing!
Can't wait for the next instalment of this series, I think a publishing firm should take this book on, especially considering the tripe they already print.

Vampires, shape shifters, witches, ghouls, angels - I could list forever but the fantastical creatures in this story are abundant and each has their own great personality. I especially love our hero Corvus, a hot undead manly vampire who knows how to care for his family and seduce you at the same time. By the end of this book you are crazy if you haven't fallen in love with him. He may be on the over protective side but he is always ready to give our heroine Jehenne what she wants - even if its space from him.

Jehenne is a great heroine, slowly coming into her powers and discovering who and what she is. She shows fear but at the same time she doesn't let that stop her, always charging head long into battle when her friends lives are in danger despite the risk to her own life.

This is one of those books you can't put down until you've read it all, then you will be left cheering for some characters (the adorable ghoul Rodney) and crying because you now have to wait for book 2 before you can find out what happens next to Jehenne and Corvus.

I definitely recommend this fantastic story and as I've already said - screw the Edward Cullen vampires of the world, I want Corvus!

The Key to Erebus was an interesting story. I greatly enjoyed the over-all theme to it.

Pros:
Interesting new take on vampires, magic, and family loyalties. Over all great fun, interesting read. Love the background information on several of the monsters.

Cons:
Kept leading in several different directions. To many lead offs that probably could have been their own story if fleshed out fully. Several punctuation errors and spelling errors.

From one to five I'd give it a three. I took a point away for punctuation and another for spelling. I am adding one point back because it was such a lovely story.

I am going to read the next book(s) to this series because it was a good read and I want to know what happens next!

If you love fantasy books like Harry Potter, Twilight and Artemis Fowl, you'll love The Key to Erebus. A wonderfully written book that had me addicted from start to finish. I'm really looking forward to the follow on 'The Heart of Arima', which is coming out around Xmas 2013.

Fun filled fantasy with almost everything you could desire! Vampires (that DON'T SPARKLE), Fae, crazy witches and necromancers all surrounded by love!

A fabulously based fun read. I couldn't put it down! The characters are amazing!

The storyline was good.....riveting actually which was the only thing that will make me consider reading the next book. What was the problem, you ask? The absolutely ridiculous, immature, self absorbed heroine!

Jehanne was by far one of the most annoying characters I've ever had to tolerate throughout a novel. Her antics and reasoning were completely illogical and on more than one occasion made me feel like just deleting this book off my kindle. I hope the author gives her a personality overhaul in the future.

A magical tale that leaves you wanting more. Every character has their own tale, and Emma graces us with a story that can and will be read over and over.... And in my case... over, and over, and over.

OK...we have vampires, witches, shapeshifters, and other sups on board with this book. And it all meshes together. Very well written, great plot and I am only half way thru this book. Wish there was a sequel already.

Jehenne and Corvis are the main characters. Jehenne is a witch and Corvis is a vampire. She is living with grams to learn and he is the head vamp of France. There is a villan who is after them. They are in love but it is full of problems naturally.

I got this book free and would have gladly paid for it. Now I am off to finish the last half.

The whole book is about your clichéd whiny relationship between a 2,000 year old Vamp and a 17 year old girl (yes it's getting creepy - does anyone actually believe a 2000 year age difference would work, or that it's even morally okay?). The book is riddled with grammar and punctuation mistakes, and the author has the annoying habit of flip-flopping between over-description and skipping over important details. It had a decent atmosphere and setting, but a whole lot of minor issues that made reading it a bit difficult.

Okay, so it's a cheesy fluff novel, these things are expected. However, the main reason I am giving this book 1 star over my normal 3 star rating of fluff books, is because around 84-86% of the way through it some truly nonsensical things happen; it's a wonder the author or editor didn't fix them.

SPOILERS to those who actually like this, or if you are just desperate for a something to read after searching; proceed with caution.

THE RANT-
So supposedly the girl is a reincarnation of her ancestor. Well, the Vamp makes a deal with an Angel to help the girl regain the memories of her previous lives (her permission was not asked, by the way, which is weird...seems a bit invasive to me). This deal is somehow supposed to prove the Vamp loves her, but why the hell would you force someone to become a new person (essentially) by forcing past lives into their head? Doesn't seem very loving to me. He's pretty much lobotomizing her because her current self will be eradicated as the past lives take over and she becomes someone else. And so the girl gets a bit upset over this (understandably) and yet the Vamp is the one who gets mad. Oh, and as soon as he gets mad, she feels guilty and suddenly thinks she is just being petty...you know, petty about being mind-raped into adopting past personalities and memories. Gee, how selfish of her. Later on, the author implements a "fix" to explain these obviously flawed plot/character points, but the logistics are never even touched upon and the reactions of all the characters involved are utterly unrealistic. Ugh...thanks for nothing...

P.S. My whole rant is about the most glaringly obvious illogical and inconsistent plot and character devices, but the book is soaked through with smaller ones. Again, these things are expected in cheesy fluff novels, but come on, make a little effort, please...

This book was okay. The language was distracting, and it was tough to read at times. I was tempted to abandon it a few times, but the story was just good enough that I really wanted to see how it turned out. There's a bit of a surprising twist at the end, but not enough to detract from the otherwise quite predictable tale.

It's set in France, in modern times. That was cute, but I feel much of the French wasn't adequately explained. The narrative is also very melodramatic - it's written in the first person, but I honestly feel that's no excuse for the excessive editorialising that goes on. And it's not even consistent, either. This is supposed to be a world where the characters still believe in the old gods, yet these same characters often invoke the various names of the one Christian God in vain. Totally unnecessary, I felt.

As to the punctuation, there are missing commas all over the place, and not a semicolon in sight. There are plenty of places where I think they are sorely missed!

All in all, an okay story, but not one I'd recommend. There's apparently a second book coming in the series, but I don't think I'll be reading it.
