What a delightful cover to entice the reader into The Summer House. If you are looking for a feel-good, summer story with a splash of mystery then this will do you nicely.

Callie and Olivia have been friends for ever and now they are about to embark on their dream of buying, renovating and opening a guest house, situated on the stunning Outer Banks. They need to buckle down and work their little socks off in order to get it up to scratch and suitable for the grand opening.

I really liked these two women, they aren’t afraid of hard work and can sense their potential. Olivia has a young son Wyatt and she balances motherhood and work with the help of Callie and her grandmother Gladys.

Callie’s own family life is a bit battered around the edges and this has made her rather introverted .. she certainly won’t suffer fools and has built a protective wall around her heart.

However like all good romance stories she soon spots a dishy guy .. Luke appealed to me immediately, yet another ‘book boyfriend’ to make me swoon. As we unravel his personality and circumstances he could do no wrong in my eyes!

This is a book on several levels all intertwined to make a compelling read. While they are busy working on the house preparations Callie discovers a diary that will turn the world of someone close to her upside down based on her decision of whether to disclose it or not. I felt her turmoil and suffered her pain .. this was beautifully written and really plays on the readers emotions.

If you absorb yourself in this book you can feel the breeze, smell the sea air, have the texture of sand between your toes, what more could you ask for?
Perfection between the pages, this is a book that will entertain, make you smile and cry and leave a pleasant satisfaction at the end. I highly recommend. Jenny has an ability to write descriptively and with such sweet charm.

Many thanks to Kim and Bookouture for inviting me to take place on the tour and to Netgalley for my copy which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Can we please take a moment to appreciate the beauty of that cover?! I mean seriously, it’s stunning, it makes me want to dive right in. The Summer House was a perfectly satisfying summer read that I devoured in an afternoon. It had me longing to have my toes in the sand and the sea breeze in my hair, meanwhile I’m actually in Arizona where ninety something degrees is considered “not too hot at all!” Sigh.

Callie was the sort of character that wiggled her way into my heart right away. She was lovely, kind and warm and not in the market for a boyfriend at all. She’s way too busy renovating the Beachcomber with her best friend Olivia to worry about romance, but they say you find love when you’re not looking…

Luke is the love interest of Callie and man was he hot! I have such a vivid picture of him in my minds eye thanks to Hale’s fantastic imagery. The relationship between these two was adorable and not one of those where they fell in love within five minutes. It was realistic as Callie was cautious and hesitant to get involved. Besides the romantic storyline there was a bit of a mystery as Callie finds an old journal and a lockbox left by the previous owner of the house. I just love when a romance author adds some intrigue into the plot, it really breaks things up and adds something special.

This was just a delightful read with fabulous lead characters as well as a really fun group of supporting characters as well. The setting was totally gorgeous as well, I really felt like I could envision the Beachcomber and the town perfectly. If you’re looking for a sweet read to sink your teeth into this summer look no further, The Summer House was a highly endearing read.

When I began reading this it was when my dog past away, so I dove into the story to distract myself. I breezed through it easily since the flow of the story is simple. It isn't complicated with too many descriptions, or words that are too "fluffy", instead it was everything I needed for a relaxing read.

I'm already a sucker for romance, so following Luke and Callie as they navigated their attraction to one another, was everything I wanted it to be. It was sweet and gradual. Most stories tend to have an instant-love, and while yes, Luke and Callie did have an attraction from the start, they didn't fall in love right away. They didn't even kiss untill around midway into the book.

I love a story where the love doesn't come easily though, and Callie's reluctance to be open with Luke felt relatable. I loved that she she didn't kiss him on the first date, but I also hated (in a good way) that she couldn't get out of her head and out of her own way. It was a nice way to create conflict between them since Luke was so open with her from the start. It was so easy to become invested in the characters.

As far as the other parts of the story, I enjoyed the renovation of the Beachcomber. The author has a knack for being descriptive without overkill and I could picture it quite vividly in my mind. I also liked that there was a side romance occurring with Olivia and Aiden, as well as a bit of mystery with a diary that was found in the old B&B. I was able to guess early on where the diary entries were leading, but even so, I enjoyed figuring out whether I was right or not.

Over all, I feel this story is a great read. Especially when you're looking to get lost in the pages of imaginary people. Reading this helped me during a hard time after losing my dog. She was always by my side and such a great companion, so the loss really hit hard. I thank the author for allowing me to forget my grief for a bit and I look forward to other book written by her.

I received an early copy thanks to Netgalley.

An enjoyable summertime read. Callie and Olivia have bought a beach house that they are converting into a guesthouse. They have known each other since childhood and hence know each other inside out. When a chance meeting brings a possible romance or at least friendship with a local celebrity, life becomes rather more exciting. A little intrigue into the mix and this brings the perfect recipe for a light-hearted read. I am not into chick-lit/romance books but this had that little bit more with characters that I could relate to (within the realms of fiction)and a heartwarming story. Scenes well described and that ocean sound we have all dreamt of. Sometimes we all need a happy ending.
I voluntarily chose to read this ARC and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

Callie Weaver is ready for a new start in life, she and her best friend Olivia have just invested in a beach house that they are renovating to open as a bed and breakfast at North Carolina’s Outer Banks. As busy as Callie has been preparing for their opening the last thing on her mind was a relationship but when a chance encounter with local heartthrob Luke Sullivan happens Callie finds herself wanting to get to know him.

While Callie and Olivia are working on the house they stumble across an old diary and wonder what to do with it. The diary is full of old secrets of the prior owners but when a few fall a bit too close to home Callie wonders what it will mean for her new relationship with Luke.

The Summer House by Jenny Hale can easily be called a perfect summer beach read. The author did a wonderful job with this story, the setting was described so well I could almost picture myself in the quaint seaside community at times. The characters were also very likable and it was nice to have a bit of suspense added into the romantic read with the old secrets that were brought out into the light.

Starting off reading this one I thought it was going to be a bit of the rich spoiled boy and the girl that finally turns him but the story became so much more rather quickly. Luke is rich and set to inherit his father's company but he never came across as the "rich jerk" type and it was easy to like him. With the deeper story it was easy to get engaged and root for a happy ending while reading this one.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

Thank you to Kim for letting me take part in this blog tour. I have read quite a few of Jenny's book and I adore her writing style so when I heard about the tour I had to sign up.

Like Jenny's other summertime books this story is set at the Outer Banks. Callie and bestie Olivia have bought their dream house The Beachcomber. They have admired this house since they were little so when it came on the market they knew they had to get it. the Beachcomber sounds like the perfect place to stay if you were holidaying in this area. It has the views, the beach and the house itself sounds very relaxing.

When popping out to pick up some lunch one day Callie meets Luke. Luke Sullivan is a bit of a celebrity in these parts and has been portrayed as a flashy playboy by the media. Luke is actually a real sweetie.

Callie has so many walls around her. She was hurt when she was young by one of the people that are supposed to love you unconditionally. This has led her to keep people at arms length, never really letting them in.

I won't ruin the story for anyone but I felt so sorry for Callie. Knowing that secret put her between a rock and a hard place. There was no right answer. I think she handled it very well though.

This story is the perfect summer read. It will have you wishing for those chill out days on the beach and those long  summer nights.

*Book provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review*

Callie and her best friend Olivia have put their savings together and they have bough the The Beachcomber. It’s a lovely beach house on the Outer Bnks of North Carolina. Their dream is to open it as a bed and breakfast and Callie spends every day getting the house ready.

However, she catches the attention of gorgeous Luke Sullivan, who comes across as a bit of a player. Callie gets to know him though and realises that he is different. I loved reading about these two together. Their relationship developed slowly, smoothly and sweetly. Jenny Hale captured it all beautifully.

Callie and Olivia find a diary full of secrets, which will add a lot of drama, involving Luke and some of their friends. It’s intense and it tests them on several levels, which added a lot of great excitement to the story. Then there was also a hurricane coming closer, so they had their fear of The Beachcomber being destroyed in their minds as well.

I absolutely adored this lovely bunch of characters, all so well lined out, all of them adding a spark to the story and of course they got their story told as well, without taking away space from Callie’s story. Luke is probably my favourite character, he is so thoughtful and just a sweetheart. Callie is a very relatable character and she goes through a real journey in this book, learning to trust again and not building too many walls around herself. Jenny Hale managed to include it in the story in a great and exciting way.

Jenny Hale has a real talent when it comes to describing places and settings. She did it again in this book, her descriptions are so vivid and real, it really feels like you are there with the characters.

This is your perfect summer read. It’s full of emotions, colourful and mesmerizing descriptions, lively and authentic characters, love, romance and much more.

What a refreshing breeze of a read!! After a run of crime and thrillers it was lovely to dip my toes back into the realm of chick lit/romance and The Summer House was everything I’d expect. A heart-warming tale set in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. There is friendship and romance but also a little mystery which was a pleasant addition. The discovery of a diary inside The Beachcomber threatens to rock the boat in this little town. The descriptions of The Beachcomber and its’ surroundings were sublime; I could feel the boards creaking under my bare feet, the white sand between my toes and the warm sea breeze on my face. Reading this book was like being on a virtual vacation.

Callie Weaver is the central character and I loved her friendship with Olivia. We all have that best friend who has been by our side forever, who knows what makes us tick and when we are not being honest with our feelings. Callie is a reserved person but the renovation of The Beachcomber and her relationship with Luke Sullivan really makes her bloom.

Now, let’s have a word about Luke Sullivan….I have been warned off previous book boyfriends so am claiming this one as my own! A gorgeous, kind-hearted, generous millionaire. What’s not to like? I liked that the facets of his personality were slowly revealed; emerging from a rich playboy to easy going, loveable man. To be honest I loved him from the first time he appeared but Callie is a little slower in her thawing towards him.

An absolute scorcher of a Summer read, I will definitely be reading more from Jenny Hale and loved embracing my chick lit light side for a change !

Bookouture and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of The Summer House. I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is freely given.

Callie Weaver and Olivia Dixon have been best friends since childhood, playing on the sandy beaches in North Carolina during the summers. When a house became available next door to Olivia's grandmother in the seaside village of Waves, the two friends took a leap away from their lives to fulfill their dreams of owning a bed and breakfast. After a chance encounter with the local playboy, Luke Sullivan, will Callie's path be altered forever?

The Summer House is a clean romance and would be perfect for a beach read. The story is not all that imaginative, but it definitely has that feel-good aspect that romance readers are looking for. It goes without saying that the book is wholly unrealistic, as the plot and side plot contain too many coincidences to ever be real. I did like the fact that the author portrays the two female main characters as strong, capable women. There is a sense of completeness to Olivia and Callie, that they could be women who live down the street in real-time America. Readers who are looking for a quick beach read will probably enjoy The Summer House.

When they were kids Callie and Olivia used to spend their summers at a beach in Outer Banks. They've always dreamed about owning a beach house themselves and when the opportunity arises there's no doubt in their minds that his is their chance. Now they're working hard to turn the beach house into a bed and breakfast. Hidden behind a wall Callie finds a box and a diary from the former owner. Curious about the content, Callie and Olivia go out on a quest to find the rightful heir to these belongings. Will there be secrets that remained hidden for a long time written down in that diary?

Luke has been living a life in the spotlights. He's gorgeous and successful and has dated a lot of beautiful women. Being home is always incredibly relaxing for him and he doesn't miss the reporters who are usually following him or stay hidden in the shadows until the right moment. A persistent paparazzo makes Luke use Callie to get out of a tricky situation. They form a bond immediately and they're comfortable with each other straight away. It's like they've known each other for years. Luke can't remember ever feeling this way about someone. He's determined to make Callie see the real him. How will Luke react when he finds out that the things he values most in life are not even really his?

Callie and Olivia have been best friends ever since they were little kids. Callie didn't have a nice childhood and sees Olivia and her parents as family. Gladys, an older lady who lives in a nearby beach house, is part of their family as well and these women obviously love each other very much. Callie and Olivia work hard and know what they need to do to reach their goals. I instantly felt a connection to these women and I loved reading about the progress they make with their bed and breakfast.

The whole world thinks that Luke is a rich playboy who takes whatever he wants without consideration for others. There aren't a lot of people who know he has a softer side and hardly anybody sees how sweet and considerate he actually is. He's a great brother and son and I loved the way he interacts with his family. Even though Luke is rich he still enjoys the simple things in life and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. I liked this no-nonsense man and I could totally understand why Callie felt attracted to him.

The Summer House is a fabulous sweet story about best friends and love. Having won the lottery with my own best friend I always love to read stories about true friendship. Callie and Olivia are fantastic women and I loved that they don't hold back in achieving the dream they've had since they were children. Jenny Hale describes the surroundings so vividly that I could almost smell the ocean and feel the sun warm my skin. The Summer House is a lovely feelgood story, a perfect read for the summer. It left me with a smile on my face and I'm hoping this book will become part of a series.

Callie Weaver and her best friend Olivia Dixon are starting over. With Olivia's son in tow, they have purchased a large beach house and are renovating to open as a bed and breakfast on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Callie and Olivia are doing a lot of work themselves so the last thing they have time for is a relationship. The timing does not always work as planned. When Callie runs into Luke Sullivan (rich, heartthrob playboy), something happens to both of them. As they tentatively begin to get to know one another, life gets in the way. While Callie and Olivia are working on the house they stumble across an old diary and a lock box belonging to the previous owner and her brother. When Callie starts to read the diary and looks at the contents of the lockbox, secrets emerge. Secrets that could derail her new relationship. If that is not enough, a hurricane is moving in to the Outer Banks and they are forced to evacuate. Will the Bed And Breakfast survive? Will Callie and Luke's new relationship survive? What will the secrets mean to the other residents of The Waves.

The Summer House by Jenny Hale is a great summer read. I loved the story. This was more than girl meets rich handsome playboy. There was a whole story behind both Luke and Callie. His family was likable and very real. I loved Olivia and her son Wyatt. They were a very important part of the story as well. The setting was amazing. The descriptions of the island, the Sullivan home and even the Hurricane and its aftermath were so real, I could picture it all. Yes there is romance, yes there are some happy endings, yes there is also drama and major decisions to be made. Overall, a good story that I have come to expect from Jenny Hale. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.

Callie and her friend Olivia decided to buy and restore the cottage across from Olivia’s grandmother Gladys. They want to open a bed and breakfast by the late summer and therefore they have a lot of work to do before that. Callie and Olivia are both focused on work and didn’t have romance in mind, but life had other plans and Callie’s path collides with a local millionaire Luke. She’s a bit hesitant, but the time she spend with Luke showed that he’s way more than a playboy with a lot of money. The more time they spend together, the more they get to know each other and feel the connection they haven’t felt before. Like usually in life, everything can’t go only smoothly and when an old diary is found in the cottage, it brings an old secret to the surface, a secret that can and is going to change a lot for some people.

Another wonderful novel by Jenny Hale, it was a great summery beach read. It had all the good elements-great location, wonderful characters, sweet romance and of course the secrets and intrigues entwined into the story. All in all it was a magnificent story to read, especially during the summer!

The Summer House by Jenny Hale is a fun and light summertime feel-good read.
Main Characters Olivia and Callie have bought an old house on the Outer Banks of North Carolina in hopes of restoring it and turning it into a bed and breakfast. This is such a fun idea and after reading The Summer House, I desperately want to go and stay at The Beachcomber.
The Summer House is a true to form chick-lit / romance novel. If you like movies such as The Wedding Planner or How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days then you'll love this novel.
The plot is a little predictable and Luke, our main male character, and Callie's love interest, is a bit over the top in the perfect man category. He is your typical handsome, thoughtful but so down to earth millionaire.
Jenny's vibrant and descriptive writing bring delightful characters and a beautiful setting to life. I really loved her writing style and the next time I'm up for a perky, pick me up kind of read I will grab one of her other novels.
Bottom line: The Summer House is a perfect summer read.
As a side note if you're already a fan of Jenny Hale, the Hallmark Channel has picked up her novel Coming Home for Christmas to make into a t.v. movie for it's Christmas line up in 2017.

I'm beginning to see a trend in the books I'm choosing lately. They all seem to be about summer and beaches! Who knew? I love those things so I guess it's appropriate.

"The Summer House" by Jenny Hale was a really enjoyable read. I read it quickly because it was hitting home. The Outer Banks is one of my favorite places in the US to just be myself. I would love, and can picture myself, in a cottage on the shore there (a far cry from where I love - just dreaming). This book sent me there and it made me wish for it more than ever.

The characters were interesting and I wanted to get to know them, which helped me to want to read the novel, the setting was perfect (duh!) and the story was perfect for a summer afternoon on the deck with a glass of iced tea and this book. I promise you won't be disappointed by Jenny's writing. It's nice and smooth! It was good to take some time to relax and pretend I was on the Outer Banks!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this novel.

The story is simple; Callie and Olivia have invested in a beach house to convert it into bed and breakfast. During the renovations they find a journal which releases the secrets it had been hiding within its pages and some would affect the people close to them
Jenny Hale has written a perfect summery story, meant to be read in the light sun by the sea with tea and cookies. Her descriptions and the flow of the story transported me directly on the sandy beach into the home and heart of the characters. The settings and words were just so romantic. And who wouldn't like a combination of romance and mystery. The warm fun loving characters Callie and Olivia, a wickedly hot hero, Luke with sun and the sea as the backdrop, and twists in the plot - what is not to like in this Jenny Hale summer read about friends and family
To top it all, the cover, oh the cover, just made me long to have my own summer story with my own Luke...

This is a well-written, fun, light-hearted romance you’ll fall in love with thanks to a heartwarming plot, great group of characters and a beautiful North Carolina setting all rolled together to make the perfect summer escape.

The storyline is fabulous and includes a great twist as it winds down towards the end making you wish there would be a sequel so you can follow where this great couple go next. It’s one of those books you can easily fall into and binge your way to the finish without taking a break as you soak in the chemistry between Callie and Luke.

I hadn’t read anything prior by Jenny Hale but she’s going on my authors to watch list because I adored her writing. By the end of the book you’ll find yourself hopping online to plan out your own trip to North Carolina so you can see for yourself the beauty Hale managed to capture.

The perfect beach read! A nice well written easy story with well developed characters and a great pace that's perfect for relaxing.

Needing changes in their lives Callie and her best friend Olivia decide now is the time to buy, renovate, and open the B&B they've been dreaming about since they were kids vacationing on the outer banks. The last thing Callie has time for is a new romance but for Luke Sullivan making the time seems well worth it. The paparazzi may have painted him as an uncaring playboy but that's not the man Callie has gotten to know. Just when things seem to be going well Callie stumbles upon an old journal that contains secrets that could threaten not only her relationship with Luke but Luke's happiness.

I highly recommend this one.

This is a good, modern, feel good story set in North Carolina.. It's the story of Callie and Olivia, two friends, who buy an old bed and breakfast to restore. It's right on the sea shore. Olivia has a young son Wyatt who lives with them. Callie meets Luke Sullivan one afternoon, she discovers he is a rich playboy who is always in the news. They get on well together and she begins to believe him when he says the reporters vastly exaggerate everything. Luke gets on well with Olivia and Wyatt. Whilst renovating, Callie finds an old journal and reads it she is shocked what she finds and is unsure what to do! Read on!

I'm a fan of Jenny Hale's writing,I love to read her stories during Christmas and Summer times and this was not an exception.I really liked this lovely, warm, summery, colourful story.

The author made a beautiful work with the description of the landscape,I'm italian so when I closed this book I went on google to look to some Outer Banks pictures and they looked like what I have envisioned while reading.

Callie, our heroine,is so focused on the success of her business she thinks there is no time and room for love but she realizes pretty soon that to be happy she needs Luke in her life.I appreciated how their relationship developped throughout the book and I wished they could find a way to be together even during the hard times.

Summer House by Jenny Hale is one of her best novels yet. It has everything you want in romance and much more. The main character, Callie, only has time for renovating the beach house that she and her best friend purchased to turn into a B&B. However, she didn’t bargain on falling in love with Luke. Callie and Luke really hit it off even though he is a local celebrity from a prestigious family. Summer House has turmoil, selfless love, honesty, and forgiveness. The characters are connected through the past and the present. The theme that resonates throughout the entire book is if you truly love something so much; you might have to be willing to give it up. Callie and Luke have a great deal of internal issues they must personally come to grips with before they are able to go further in their relationship. Throughout the book we are reminded how important family is, but we learn that your family doesn’t have to be blood to love each other unconditionally. Summer House is a great summer read!

Nearly 300 pages. Ends in marriage. No sex. And it is not even religious. Everyone is drinking nonstop, so you'd think there would be some bad behavior, but no, they just fall asleep and wake up hungover and act nauseatingly nice to each other. Yes, everyone is nice and sweet and never says one bad thing. Everyone likes each other, even the ex-husband of a woman and her lover who fathered a baby he raised as his own. The answer to a mystery you saw coming 10 miles away. Guaranteed to put you to sleep on a beachy summer's day.

Callie and Olivia have invested their life savings and bough an old B&B on the Outer Banks. They are cleaning and fixing and rebuilding with the hopes of opening before the end of summer. With no time for romance Callie meets the local heart throb and and begins a "friendship" When Olivia and Callie find a locked box it changes the course of events for the entire island. Hopefully for all involved that friendship and family can overcome gossip and hurt feelings. I enjoyed this book, it's a nice light read that will go well with an easy chair on the deck or a towel on the beach.

The Summer House by Jenny Hale is a story that revolves around family dynamics between 3 different but inter-related families. Callie and Olivia, the two main characters, are long time friends that find themselves being each others support system when they decide to follow a dream. They buy a closed bed and breakfast in the Outer Banks of North Carolina where they had wonderful childhood memories They put their entire savings in buying and renovating it so they could open it as partners. Olivia's grandmother lives in a cottage across the street from the property and has been a very influential person in both women's lives. She constantly remains a wise, quiet influence as they face the trials of life. While they are attempting to complete their plan with the bed and breakfast, Callie accidentally interacts with a well known influential man, Luke Sullivan, that leads into a situation where she has life changing information about his family situation. While she determines how to deal with this knowledge, Callie reflects on her own unsettling family dynamics with her mother. Olivia, meanwhile, has a very good college friend Aiden who is a very successful architect and cousin of Luke. Aiden is giving advice to the women on the renovation of the project. Olivia is a single mother raising her son after a tumultuous divorce. Her reconnection with Aiden stimulates feelings that she was not anticipating. All of the interpersonal relationship situations in the book come full circle leading to the knowledge that love of family and friends really is the key to a fulfilled life. Jenny Hale continues to produce thought provoking stories that involve true-to-life situations. It is a uplifting story and the Outer Banks is the perfect setting.

The Summer House is Jenny Hale's best book yet (and, yes, I have read them all!). I love the way Jenny creates characters with such incredible attention to detail that I feel as though I am a part of the family and right there with them, with my toes in the sand. I have never been to the Outer Banks (on my bucket list!), but when I read The Summer House, I was able to escape to the beach, and could almost smell the salty air, hear the rush of the waves, and feel the sun on my face. I fell in love with each character and felt as though I really knew them. Jenny Hale has a way of touching hearts with her romantic, feel-good novels, and she nailed it with The Summer House.

Jenny Hale’s fourth summer romance novel is her best to date! It captures your heart from the first page. Her use of descriptive language in this novel pulls you in and you feel all of the emotions of a roller coaster ride romance. The main character is Callie Weaver, a young woman who is following her life-long dream of renovating and opening up a B and B at the Outer Banks in North Carolina. She leaves the security of her day job in Richmond to follow her dreams with her best friend, Olivia and her son Wyatt. Unexpectedly she is swept off her feet by the dashing Luke Sullivan who is known to be a bit of a playboy. She is afraid of getting her heart broken and holds back for quite some time. Eventually, with a turn of events, she finds out a huge family secret of Luke’s that puts them in a bit of a predicament. Jenny teaches us to open our heart through this wonderful novel. Good, summer beach read about romance and renovations! I loved the undeniable chemistry between Luke and Callie but found it frustrating at points because she went from cold to hot so fast and then he went from hot to cold just as fast. Otherwise, loved the overall premise of the book and it was a fast, easy read that left me with a great feeling overall about love, friends, and family.

A pleasant read for the beach or for a rainy day! This is a nicely done romance between Callie and Luke but also with the Outer Banks. Books in the summer house genre tend to be more in the family-come-home vein and this was a bit different. The mild mystery Callie stumbles on adds to the plot, which skips along at a good pace. Don't forget to keep your eye on Olivia- she's a winner too. This is an easy, relaxing book. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

The Summer House is another sweet love story by Jenny Hale. Set in the wonderful Outer Bank, this beach story will leave you begging for another one. The couple, both with their own issues find love together as they work through their differences. There are parts that make you laugh and parts that keep you on the edge of your seat. I couldn’t put this book down and I know you’ll feel the same. The characters have realistic feelings, ones that you can connect to throughout the book. I can’t wait for the next book from Hale, she never disappoints me and I’ve read them ALL!

Yes, there is romance as most of expect with this genre of book but even better it was a story about friendship and family. How most family's have left some broken or even shattered glass along the way yet in some form or another where there is the will ...a family will remain.

Family secrets, surprising love, and lots of hours by the ocean make this a great beach book! Callie and Olivia - BFF's, are realizing their dream by renovating a oceanside B&B. This lifelong friendship, and their memories on the Outer Banks are enough to give this story heart. But Luke Sullivan, the talk of the town - is a handsome and wealthy guy, with a heart of gold. Not surprisingly, Callie and Luke are drawn together. But there are some interesting twists that keep you guessing along the way! A host of engaging support characters and the detailed setting whisks you away to a summer in Carolina! Don't miss this enjoyable read!

It is a great romance. A typical boy meets girl but with great twists and turns. A wonderful story of family, honor, and love. I also loved how they weren't jumping in the bed after they met. Showing restraint and maturity.

This is a sweet summer beach read sure to make you long for a visit in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. Callie Weaver has just made a lifelong dream come true when she and childhood best friend Olivia purchase the old home they've admired and start to renovate as an inn. Life becomes complicated when she meets local real estate heir and playboy Luke Sullivan. Despite Callie's hesitation Luke shows her judgement of him may not be accurate. Filled with friendship, family, romance, twists and intrigue, and a coastal location to die for, Jenny Hale's latest has all the ingredients of a perfect summer escape.
I received an advanced reader copy (eGalley) from Bookouture through NetGalley. This review reflects my honest and unbiased opinions.

I just finished The Summer House; it is a fabulous read and you won't want to miss this one! Jenny is a gifted story teller; She weaves heart into all of her characters and connects them with threads of love, loyalty, compassion and emotion that makes them come alive in your mind! So call Callie and make your reservation at the Beachcomber and while there, get your pinch of stardust!

The two main characters are very well developed. I felt that I got to know them well. These two people were delightfully drawn to each other, in such a glorious way, that their ultimate coupling seemed right

Characters were fun. Plot was fun. Characters did not have any huge failures. They were competent, supportive. I love that she let the plot cause suspense instead of creating it by having badly flawed characters. Much more relatable characters than some other books I've read. Perfect summer read.

Just what I needed to jump start the summer season! Once again, I felt as if I was right there with all of the characters spending my summer vacation at The Outer Banks (I so gotta visit that place some day). Jenny's way of portraying family is beautiful as well. If you enjoy beachy romance, then you'll love The Summer House!
