This has the funniest poems, incredibly charming, very clever. Our test reader is nine, and this is definitely a new favorite. Will be fun to read a!one, or with a group. If gets a place on the favorites shelf. While it is hard to pick, two winners are the lazy alphabet one, and the island where everyone is named Toby.

Even if you have never thought about getting a book of poetry for your children, you should buy this. This book was a gift for my 6 yr old, and he loves it, but his 11 year old brother, who refused to pick up a book at all during winter break, overheard us reading it and has not put it down since. This has a wide age distribution. The poetry is so very accessible. This book will make any child love poetry.

This book is for anyone who enjoys silly, clever poems and almost-poems. It can be enjoyed in small bits, or in one sitting but should make readers smile to themselves, chuckle, and maybe even laugh out loud. I'd compare this book to Shel Silverstein's poetry books that have been enjoyed by kids (and adults) for a few decades now. I'm Just No Good at Rhyming is a fantastic collection for kids and adults with some great illustrations by Lane Smith. It would make a great gift and should be included in most poetry collections.
The perfect feel good summer read (La Cour des Roses) (Volume 1) :: HBR's 10 Must Reads On Strategy :: The Summer of Good Intentions: A Novel :: Sense and Sensibility - Pride and Prejudice :: The Good Dinosaur (Read-Along Storybook and CD)

In the past many weeks, I have really been reading and rereading this book. The poems are quite clever, entertaining, and well done. Some are silly, and some more introspective, but all have messages that can be appreciated. The simple drawings and script used individually in each piece coordinate and emphasize the writer's point well, pulling it all together for maximum effect. This book has a little something for everyone and can be enjoyed by all ages.

I love it and plan to share it with my grandchildren when I have the chance.

This is a poetry collection that is hilarious! The pages numbers are all screwy, the illustrations are great, and the ideas and humor behind the poems are clever! This is a book that you have to pick up and leaf through, reading poems as you go. Some are even perfect for reader's theatre! Kids and adults alike will laugh along and love these poems!

Wonderful and hilarious book - It was a great way to get my son interested in reading poetry and among the silliness there are some great poems he read as well. This would be a great gift for the holidays!!!

Just saw Chris speak at Texas book fair in Austin and bought the book based on his enthusiasm and sample poems. My 7 year old met him at their school and was excited to bring me today... thanks Chris. I hope you sell lots of copies and continue to write more. I like clever silly.

Book #52 Read in 2018
I'm Just No Good at Rhyming

This book reminded me of the book Where the Sidewalk Ends. It had short, funny poems along with illustrations that will appeal to young readers. This would make a good read aloud in an elementary classroom. I borrowed this book from the public library.

We received this book as a gift and my kids love it. The 4 year old likes the cadence of the rhyme and the 6 year old thinks the poems are silly. But really, it's me and my 34 year old best friend who are reading them aloud to each other and laughing our butts off. They are very similar to Shel Silverstein poems. Great find!

This is a great book of silly poetry from Chris Harris. It is full of wit and linguistic tricks, and is a thoroughly entertaining read. I had a hard time putting down after reading it to our boys. My 9 year old loves it too.

I just bought this book this weekend for my two boys and I have to RAVE about it here. Harris is hilariously entertaining and this is a book for ALL ages. We started reading it and sat there reading the entire book because it is SUCH a great book! High praise to you, Chris Harris!

If Shel Silverstein's "Where the Sidewalk Ends" and BJ Novak's "Book With No Pictures" had a love child, this would be it. My 7-y-o says she "loves it, it's very funny and I love the poems." I'm hoping she stops saying "avocado" soon....

As a third grade teacher, I do NOT like the overly silly poetry BUT this book has the spirit of Shel Silverstein all over it. This is funny children's poetry done extremely well. So many creative poems in this book. Two roads, Infinity Poem, soooo many. My only criticism is it is too long some of the genius poems would stand out in a shorter book.

This my favorite book that anyone I personally know has written. It is also my favorite kid's book. Not only did my 8-year-old son and I actually cry laughing (riddle page, especially) but we cried at the end. Bonus: Chris is super nice.

The PR rep writing the copy for Chris Harris’s “I’m Just No Good at Rhyming” did him a major disservice by comparing him to Shel Silverstein.

He’s Chris Harris and he’s working really hard at being moderately entertaining. Sometimes he pulls it off, and sometimes he doesn’t.

I read this one with my eight-year-old grandson who smiled on occasion and looked bored and/or confused on others. Perhaps it’s more for older children. I found it wordy and not especially charming. Neither of us was ever caught up in the words and rhythms.

However, we both enjoyed Lane Smith’s illustrations.

At first I liked the book, but it becomes repetitive, and some of the jokes here are mean. My son (age 7) keeps it in the car and reads it from random places, but he was not amused by some of the stuff, like the whole page of "I hate you"s. He liked some of the poems and laughs sometimes while reading the book, but it does not keep his interest for long.
